Chapter 1 •••Asha•••

I yawned and stretched in my bed. Looking around at my surroundings, I thought to myself once again how dreary this cabin was.

My name is Asha di Angelo. I'm no son of Hades, Poseidon, Zeus, Apollo, Hermes, or even Aphrodite. I'm second generation.

My father is Nico di Angelo. My mother is Erica di Angelo, formally known as Chase.

Why, then, am I at Camp Half-Blood?

Well, since I'm a second generation child of Hades and Poseidon, who happen to be very powerful, I've inherited some of their power. My sister, Bianca, is in the Poseidon cabin, because she's better with water than I am. For me, I prefer shadow travel and summoning a dead army rather than swimming and fighting with waves.

I climbed out of bed and flung open the dark blinds on the windows. This cabin needed some life.

I stared outside for a moment, wondering what we would be doing today. Suddenly a face appeared before me. I screamed and fell backwards. "Hey, Asha!" The boy screamed, his voice strangely muffled by the glass that separated us.

"Dang it, Jack!" I roared, getting clumsily to my feet. Jack grinned wickedly at me. "That's no way to say good morning, sweetheart."

I rolled my eyes. "Are you sure you're a son of Apollo? Because most of Apollo's kids are helpful." I said.

Jack shook his head. "My father's got a devious side, Asha. Just because I like to prank doesn't mean I'm not a son of Apollo."

I snapped my blinds shut. I did not need this kid spying on me while I was getting dressed.

"HEY!" Jack shouted. "THAT WAS RUDE!"

Ignoring him, I threw on my jeans and Camp Half-Blood t-shirt as quickly as I could.

I took one look at myself in the mirror and laughed. "I look like a walking zombie." I snorted to myself. "Heck yeah!" Jack's voice yelled outside of my window.

"What, do you have supersonic hearing or something!?"

I heard an evil laugh and the sound of retracting footsteps. Sighing, I brushed out my hair and split it so it rested on my shoulders. Then I braided a strand and bobby-pinned it to the back of my head. (I know that sounds violent, but trust me, there was no blood involved.)

Glancing at myself one more time in the mirror, I grinned, slipped on my shoes, and walked out the door.

A gentle breeze made my hair rustle. I relished for a moment in the sunlight before heading over to my sister's cabin.

"Where ya headin', sweetie?" Jack called as he caught up with me. I looked at him in disgust. "Away from you."

"I always had a feeling that Jack was a creep." Bianca told me as we walked to breakfast together. I laughed. "Well, at least Jack isn't Tommy." I said.

Bianca shrugged. "You got me there. But it's not like Tommy watches me in the morning." I scowled. "He wasn't watching me the entire time." Then I paused, thinking about it. "Oh my gods, you don't think he was, do you?"

Bianca laughed. "Of course not. I doubt he's that much of a creep. But he definitely has a crush on you."

Now, this is the part where I stare at Bianca like she's crazy. You know that annoying best friend who you love to death but drives you insane? Yeah, that's Bianca. She's that person who ships you with someone that you hate with all your heart.

Bianca and I went our separate ways once we reached the dining pavilion. I grabbed my food and sighed. It was boring, eating alone. Sure, I had the people around me, but it didn't really count as having someone sitting with me.

I was so used to eating alone, that when I saw someone else sitting at the Hades table I had to rub my eyes. "Hi." The boy said. He had mocha colored skin and black hair. His eyes were golden.

"Um, who are you?" I asked curiously.

A/N: Sorry to interrupt, but if you figured out who this kid is (not by name but by parents) please comment here.

The boy grinned at me. "My name is Andrew." He said. I moved my hands in a "hurry up" gesture, and Andrew continued. "I'm a second generation just like you. My mother is Hazel and my father is Frank. They went on the quest with your mother and the original Seven to save your father, and my uncle."

I stared at the boy for another moment before recognition slapped me in the face. "Oh! My gods, Andrew the last time I saw you you were two! That was eight years ago! Are you seriously ten already?"

Andrew grinned childishly at me and I ruffled his hair. I sat next to him and set down my plate. "Did you offer anything?" I asked. Andrew nodded and stuffed some meat into his mouth.

It was nice having someone to sit with today. We talked to each other and laughed together. Finally I decided to ask him a question.

"Why are you here, Andrew?"

Andrew looked up at me with his innocent golden eyes. He was young, much to young to be training as a demigod. I knew that some people did train young...but Andrew was different. You could tell he wasn't well built, and that he was fragile, and he was small for his age too.

Andrew opened his mouth to answer, but was cut off when Bianca came running toward us, her blue-brown eyes wide and frightened.

"What is it, Bianca?" I yelled as she bent over the table, panting.

Andrew stared at the two of us, his eyes wider and more terrified than before. Bianca brushed her fluffy black hair out out of her face and stared at me. Her face was cut up and blood dripped onto her shirt, staining it red.

"Attack...on...camp..." She panted between gasps.

I widened my eyes until they were almost equal to Andrew's. Funny how things could go from great to horrible in a matter of seconds.

Bianca collapsed into a chair. "Bianca are you okay?" I yelled, shaking her shoulders. It wasn't like my sister to loose her breath so quickly. She had great stamina.

Bianca lifted her shirt to expose an ugly cut on her stomach. "Poison..." She choked, shuddering. I screamed. "Andrew get Chiron!" I yelled.

Andrew leapt out of his seat like a terrified cat, his hair seeming to bristle. "Who's Chiron?"

"The centaur!"

Andrew sprinted toward the head table. I turned back to Bianca and gripped her hand. "Stay with me, Bianca okay?"

Bianca looked at me, her eyes strangely calm. There was no fear, despite the fact that she had poison coursing through her veins right this second.

"Asha," she began, her voice completely steady, "we will never be separated."
