Blood spilled
Kenny never thought, he'd have someone call him dad after Ducks passing. The closet thing he had to another kid was Clem and Aj.
He then lost Clem for a few years, now she was back. He always dreamed of the moment he'd have them both back. he, however, wasn't expecting to have two new kids that wormed their way into his heart along with them.
He'll admit, that it was strange the first handful of times either one of the kids called him dad. Clem was having a field day with it though.
He in turn was having a field day with her little crush over Louis. As much as he hated the sole thought of the two getting together, it was fun to see Clem squirm in embarrassment.
Poor Aj had no clue what they were bantering about, he was just glad he had family around in one place.
A true family, in a safe place; surrounded by people, good people.
So why.....
Why did it have to.......
Crumble.......
Hot, golden flames engulfed everything in its path. Thick, black smoke made it hard to see.
The groans of the dead were mixed with the blood curling screams of the people, his people.
Kenny's head felt fuzzy. So very fuzzy. His thigh felt warm. His body ached all over.
Clem..... Where is she.... Where was Violet... Aj.... Tenn... where were they?
He had to get up, but he couldn't bring himself to get up. Blood soaked into his clothes.
Blood.... Kenny's mind supplied helpfully, as if he hadn't figured it out already. There was so much blood.
Raising his head, he saw corpses littering the floor. Walkers munched on the corpses as if they were a freshly made feast for them, an all you can eat buffet.
The groans where getting louder. Kenny's eye lids felt heavy. Maybe he could close them for a few seconds. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.....
Everything faded to black. The screams of the people faded away. It was peaceful. So very peaceful.

Like a cold bucket was dunked over his head he shot awake. He frankly took in the sight of the walker headed straight for him.
Even though his bones screamed in pain he managed to pushed himself into a sitting position. The walker was nearing. He tried to stand, only to actually scream in pain, at the sharp stabbing pain coming from his thigh.
When he looked down he noticed a piece of glass sticking out of it. His blood coated the ground beneath him. He took in the sight for a brief moment, before a gasp was pulled from his lips.
His fingers dug into the flesh of the decaying walker. It's rotten teeth snapped in his direction, while it's sole arm grabbed onto his head.
Kenny's arms felt like jelly. The walker, despite being all skin and bones was strong. Stronger than him in his current state.
It wasn't long till he was pinned to the floor. His arms barley keeping the walker inches away from his face. His nose scrunched up in disgusted from
The putrid smell of decay and blood.
His blood ran cold when his hands gave out. The walker dove down towards his face. Everything slowed down, he couldn't even hear the noise happening around him.
He refused to look away from death. He and death have been doing this tango for a long time, and he be damned if he was the one who pulled away.
He stared for a long time, as the walker finally drew near. It's arm yanked his head forward, and he felt the cold graze of teeth against his cheek. He felt nothing more, he felt no pain.
It all happen so suddenly. His eye Barely saw the blond blur tackling the walker. Everything sped up again after that.
The screams made him flinch. The thick smell of smoke made his face pinch up, and his eyes water. It wasn't till he heard the crunch of a skull that he managed to pull himself together.
His head slumped to the side. Violet was sitting on top of the walker with a brick in her hand. She was drenched in red, her hair more strawberry blond than the light blond he was used to seeing.
Her breathing was rigid, her eyes frantic. The brick fell out of her hands as her shoulders sagged. When she turned to look at him, he could see the tears in her eyes. "Dad!"
She screamed, her body colliding with his. Kenny managed to push her away from his leg, while maintaining the hug she initiated.
"You're okay!.... Your okay right?!?" She pulled away, her eyes scanning over his face before taking in the rest of him.
A frown pulled at her lips when she spotted the shard of glass. "I'm okay kiddo" he forced a chuckle. "I'm okay, thanks to you."
That didn't seem to ease her concern, but she nodded anyway. "We have to get home." She pulled out a pocket knife from her shoe "everyone's waiting."
"Is everyone okay?" Violet eyes flashed with sorrow at his question.
She averted her eyes "Omar.... He... he.... Omar was shot!" She forced out, her breath hitching. "It was in the leg! But-but..." she clenched her jaw "he couldn't run. Delta... they... they took him."
A few tears rolled down her cheeks. "Marlon was stabbed protecting Brody" she paused, her Adam's apple bobbing. "Ruby cut her hand open. Tenn.... He..."
Kenny felt his heart sink. "What about Tenn?" He grabbed her shoulders.
The dam, Violet was holding back broke. Streams of tears left her eyes all at once. "They took him! I-I couldn't... I couldn't re-reach him..." she sobbed.
Tears weld up in his own eye, but he couldn't let himself fall to despair right now. They need to get to safety. "Fuck... okay... it'll be okay, we'll get him back. Let's focus on getting to safety."
Violet didn't fight him. She was too broken to do so. She wordlessly helped him get up, then pulled one of his arms over her shoulders, in order transferred some of his weight onto her.
The smoke while hard to see in; helped them go unnoticed by any Delta members. Violet clutched her pocket knife tightly in her hand either way.
They passed numerous corpses of people they have come to know. Each one of them being full of bullet holes or gaping wounds from walkers.
The screams were farther away now. They sounded very distant. If it wasn't so quite he may have missed it.
"Shit, this should be easy." a women spoke with her voice full of despair.
"I'll see you in hell" Clem responded, with no regard for her life. Her voice full of anger.
Kenny and Violet shared a look, then started walking towards their voices.
"You'll be there for a good long time before I show up." The closer they got the clearer their voices sounded.
"I don't mind waiting." Clem snarled. Her confidence never wavering. She simply continued to glare at the women.
Her gun clicked, and she pressed it against her forehead. Clem let out a shaky breath, her eyes fluttering shut. The woman's finger moved to press against the trigger.
All kenny could hear was his own heartbeat in his ears. His vision turned red. Violet moved to grab onto his jacket, however he shrugged her off, as he ran forward.

I was really hoping I could get through September and October with at least a few chapters for this book, but I couldn't juggle my school, work, private life, and my writing. I had to choose between them and I decided to focus on my school and work.
I'm still a bit swamped with school, but since my job is seasonal, and is no longer open. I now have a bit more free time. So hopefully I can get caught up!
Thank you all so much for staying with me, and for all the support on this story, as well as my other ones! I Hope you have a wonderful day or night
