HAPPILY EVER AFTER
{FLUFF}
A/U: Pt 3 of the previous two shots. Takes place few years later.
"Good morning Joong- Wait! What the fuck...Where is he?"
Waking up on an empty bed wasn't the routine Seonghwa was accustomed to. So when he found the space beside him deserted, he was genuinely curious.
"What's happening?" he questioned to himself, looking astonishingly around the room which was currently bathing in daylight, "The windows are open, curtains on one side, clothes not on floor, tables cleaned and...." Seonghwa once again looked at the empty spot, "Him not here?"
Seonghwa was very confused. Usually it was him who used to get up before his boyfriend and start doing all the chores, his boyfriend lending a hand later. But today, seeing his boyfriend nowhere near him startled him to this extent that he didn't hesitate to look inside the blanket or even under the bed too check whether he was hiding anywhere or not.
Where did he go?
Suddenly, he froze.
Shit! Did something happen to him again?
Seonghwa and his boyfriend, after going through a hell of numerous hardships, had finally found some peace in their lives and had settled in a place far away from the city, leaving behind their horrendous past there. They had moved towards the country side and had bought a simple cottage house for themselves amidst the meadows, to lead a simple life. The couple worked as baristas in a nearby cafe shop and their earnings were enough for the two to live their lives the way they had always dreamt of. All they wanted was peace, love and happiness, which were denied to them throughout their lives.
And now, seeing the absence of his lover beside him, Seonghwa's fears knew no bounds. He had woken up several times in the past to find him gone, only to later see him in a terrific danger. This time too, he feared the worst.
Panicking, Seonghwa quickly came out of the blankets and grabbed whatever was nearest to him to put on. He wore his slippers and opened the door and dashed downstairs, even though the pain in his bottom was shooting up his spine, making it a little difficult for him to walk. Still, he limped and somehow stumbled in the dining hall, his breath unsteady and heart beating like crazy. He had expected to see something else, but had come to the dining table...only to encounter something else he had never seen before.
The dining table in front of him was all set, completely laden with various types of food. At first Seonghwa thought it was all an illusion and spent a good ten minutes rubbing his eyes and slapping himself over and over again to check whether he was in his dreams or not. 'Cause whatever he was seeing right in front of him looked exactly like a dream.
Who did this all?
"You alright baby?" a voice asked as Seonghwa was rudely slapped back to reality. He shook his head and raised his gaze up, only to see Hongjoong standing in front of him, wearing an apron and holding a plate of sizzling toasts on them, smiling radiantly.
"J-Joong y-you-"
"Oh yeah me," Hongjoong replied, putting the plate on the table amidst all the other delicacies and looking up at Seonghwa, smirking, "Surprised, aren't you?"
"Y-Yeah-"
"Oh...actually, I just thought," Hongjoong continued, "Why should it be you who'll prepare breakfast and dinner everyday? I look incapable, don't I? You know what...I just decided something. From today onwards," he whispered, edging closer to the half awake boy, "If you like my cooking skills, I'll be the one to cook breakfasts everyday," he swiftly grabbed Seonghwa by his waist, pulling him closer and placed a soft kiss on his nose, "And later...we can make dinner together, alright?"
Seonghwa's mouth fell open. What's going on?
"B-But J-Joong how did y-you-"
"Ooooh how did I learn to cook?" Hongjoong completed his question, smiling, "I'm a barista, does it mean I can't cook, mn? I learnt it honey, all for you," he had a way with his words, which never failed to make the other blush.
Did he hit his head somewhere last night? But yesterday he was with me doing-
"Now," Hongjoong continued, his gaze slowly travelling downwards, "Why don't you go upstairs, brush your teeth, take a shower and then come downstairs hm? 'Cause...I don't think I'll be able to control myself any longer if you're still in my shirt and," he slipped his hand underneath the huge shirt, grabbing his bare ass, "Wearing nothing underneath. Didn't get enough yesterday, mn?"
Seonghwa's face flushed, making him look like a boiled lobster. He hit the man on his broad chest, shying away and quickly covering his front part by pulling the shirt further down, even though it had already reached his mid thighs.
"Don't act like there's something left to see honey," Hongjoong slurred, as he let go of his boyfriend, "I've literally ate you up in broad daylight befo-"
"Ughh can you stop talking about 'eating' m-me and focus o-on the real food there?" Seonghwa stuttered, wriggling himself free from the strong grasp and pointing at the food in the table.
"Sure sure," Hongjoong chuckled, "But not before you, Sir. So please go and wash up and come downstairs....in something decent!"
"Ughh fineeee!"
"And oh...Hwa?" Hongjoong called, as Seonghwa was halfway up the stairs.
"Yes?"
"Remember this! Nothing in this word tastes softer than your thick ass cheeks and nothing tastes sweeter than your juicy ass hole, buttercup."
"Yo-You horny fucker!"
The breakfast was amazing, and Seonghwa couldn't stop himself from overeating, stuffing his cheeks with as much food he could put in at a time and trying to compliment Hongjoong at the same time. Nevertheless he choked a number of times and Hongjoong couldn't help but become worried.
"I know you like my food sweetheart but please eat calmly. No one's going to run away with your food. It's all yours."
"Nouh ich tache cho-"
"Eat! Eat first and then talk!"
Seonghwa couldn't believe his boyfriend had learnt to cook this well, even better than him to be precise, and this made his admiration for Hongjoong increase ten folds. Not only was his man a strong buff dashing guy with a hot gangster background, but presently he was also a sweet barista, an amazing cook, a sweet household man, and definitely the best beast on bed.
"It was soooooo good," Seonghwa cried as he put down the spoon on the plate, throwing his head backwards and heaving a sigh of pleasure. He slightly cursed his stomach for having so less space, groaning in disappointment. But soon, he got up and looked at Hongjoong.
"Okie let me do the plates-"
"No! I'll do them," Hongjoong replied, as he got up from his chair to collect the dishes, "You can go dress upsta-"
"B-But you'll be late-"
"Actually, I'm not going today," Hongjoong said, piling up the dishes, "I'll stay back."
"But why?" asked a confused Seonghwa.
"Uh I'm tired today, a little," Hongjoong said a little hesitantly, scratching his head, "Just for today hun. I'll definitely go tomorrow."
He's hiding something for sure!
"It's not that," Seonghwa murmured, not telling him anything, "It's just...like shouldn't I be the one who should stay back after bearing all your assaults yesterday night?"
"Technically today!"
"Today?"
"I fucked you till 3 a-"
"Ugh! Joong shut up!" snapped a flustered Seonghwa, "I-It's okay. I-I'll g-go alone. You stay back...ughh why is he always so dirty minded?"
"Take off that anal plug before wearing your underwears," Hongjoong cried as Seonghwa ran upstairs to change, "Or else I'll end up pressing the switch from here and you know what will happen next-"
"Jesus fucking Christ SHUT UP KIM HONGJOONG!"
* * *
Seonghwa had just turned the knob of the front door and no sooner had he crossed the threshold of his house, he was a little shocked. Why hasn't he switched on the lights? Isn't he home? It was all dark indoors and he could hardly see anything other than a little flicker of glow in a distance. Curious, he walked forward and reached the dining hall, where he noticed something on the table.
The surroundings were dark and the only glow in the room was from the candles placed on the table. A huge bouquet of red roses was placed beside the candles, and there was a note.
Seonghwa was really confused at all this sudden arrangements. He put his bag down and picked up the note, which read:
It all started when the warmth in your beautiful eyes embraced my cold gaze
"What?" faltered Seonghwa, chuckling, as he could easily understand the handwriting, "What's wrong with Joongie today?" But before he could understand what's happening, he discovered something.
The note was connected to a red thread, and as Seonghwa followed it, he found more.
I could feel my heart exploding at the sight of you...your gaze setting fire within me.
"Really?" Seonghwa smirked, following the thread to find another note on the floor.
Our first night together was rough, yet your sweetness filling me to the core was intoxicating.
"This beast," Seonghwa blushed, remembering their first night, when he had just known his name but ended up getting fucked by him, "He was so rough!"
Before I knew what's happening...I already fell for you.
"Ooohhh really?" Seonghwa laughed, finding another note in front of a door that lead towards their backyard, "God! Joong! You've literally made a spiderweb in the house! Huh, who cares! You're going to clean this...definitely not me!"
I loved you everyday, getting indulged in the whirlpool of your warmth and beauty, your sweetness and loving bubbly nature. I kept on drowning in you but never regretted, because I knew your gentle waves would always embrace me even if I go deeper into your sea.
"Ughh cheesy," Seonghwa smiled, putting each and every note in his pocket, but still confused, "What is today?" he asked himself, "Why all this?"
By this time, he was already outdoors. It was dark and a little cold outside. Their backyard had little lights and therefore Seonghwa could see everything clearly. He again found another note on a bench.
You were there for me through everything, and even if I tried to push you away, you never left. But in the end, you and I won it together, ran away together, and now we are here, all safe and sound.
"Why are you telling me the story that I've literally lived, Joongie?" Seonghwa asked himself, smiling. He moved forward, and found another string of notes.
Today, I'm nervous.
"Nervous about what?"
I don't know what will happen to us after this...I don't know if we'll be the same anymore...
"What are you talking about?" Seonghwa felt a little scared.
I'm scared...whether you'll accept this...
"Accept what?"
It's all your choice darling! If you don't, I'll be fine with it...just know...I mean it!
"What choice?" Seonghwa became frustrated.
Will you...
"Ughh...Will you wha- Ouch! J-Joong?"
Seonghwa stopped on his tracks, and all he could see in front of his eyes was his boyfriend, Hongjoong.
Shocked, the boy looked around to see himself amidst the small rose bushes which the couple had planted, the plants decorated with golden lights. Little fairy lights hung from the trees around them, making the place glow like a fairyland. There was a table behind Hongjoong and even though Seonghwa couldn't see it properly, he had already caught a glimpse of a cake on top of it and various food items around, along with several chairs around the table.
Hongjoong was wearing nothing too special but the same jacket he had worn when they met the first time in that bar, that same shirt, that same jeans, even the same shoes, which confused Seonghwa even more. He was holding a note in his hand, the last one, which was connecting the end of the string.
"J-Joong what's all...t-this?"
Hongjoong, without saying a word brought the paper forward to him, while Seonghwa took it hesitantly. As he turned the paper towards him and read the last words, he froze.
Will you marry me?
"J-Joong wh-wha-"
By the time Seonghwa could say more, Hongjoong was already down on one knee in front of him, extending his hands forward which held a shining diamond ring inside a box.
"Hwa," he spoke softly, his eyes shining in the glow of the soft golden lights around them, "I may not be a perfect guy. I may not be the guy you deserve 'cause you always deserve better. I've done many wrongs in my past and I know it...I'm not perfect. But...But if you give me a chance, I might show how much, how much I love you, care for you, and want to make you mine...forever. I want to walk on the line of our lives with you, even beyond the place where the path ends, 'cause even death can't do us apart. I want to cherish the moon and the stars, the Sun and the rains, the breeze and the Springs with you. I want to spend every single moment of my life with you. I want to spoil you, wine and dine with you, make you scream my name at night," Seonghwa really blushed hard at this, while Hongjoong couldn't help smirking, "Whatever ughh...and have you asleep against my skin every night. I want to raise our kids with you and make a wonderful family with you. So..." Hongjoong paused, looking deep into Seonghwa's watery eyes, "Will you marry me, Hwa?"
Seonghwa was speechless. He couldn't help but cover his mouth with his hands, tears streaming down his cheeks. He couldn't believe whatever was happening in front of him. He couldn't believe the deepest desire was coming true right in front of him. He couldn't believe, the man he had loved since the day he first saw him, the man whom he never wanted to loose, the man for whom he could sacrifice his everything, even his own existence, was kneeling in front of him, asking him to be his life partner.
"H-Hwa baby I-"
"Yes!"
"What?"
"Y-Yes," faltered Seonghwa, smiling through his tears, "I-I'll marry y-you...."
"Uh I couldn't hear it," Hongjoong joked, pretending not being able to hear, "Could you kindly repeat it?"
"I'll marry y-you!"
"Pardon sir?"
"Ughh YESSSS!" Seonghwa practically screamed, making Hongjoong smile widely, "I'LL MARRY YOU. NOW GIMME THE RING!" Seonghwa extended his hand forward, tears still rolling down his cheeks.
Hongjoong couldn't hide his happiness as he took the ring off the box and gently took Seonghwa's hand in his own. He slid it in his ring finger, and softly kissed his hand, making Seonghwa blush like crazy
"We're getting married honey," Hongjoong whispered, as he got up from the floor, wrapping his arms around Seonghwa's waist, their faces so close to each others' that they could feel each other's heavy breaths fanning on their faces.
"Y-Yes," Seonghwa stuttered, his eyes, "We're getting married. Oh Joongie! You d-did this a-all for me?"
"You know I love you the most baby, and I'm ready to do anything to make it all special though I couldn't do much-"
Seonghwa quickly shut him up by placing his lips on his. Hongjoong at first was a little shocked, but soon let himself go with the flow. The kiss was sweet, yet hot and fiery with the passion of their young love, filled with the excitement of embarking on a new beginning. Hongjoong's grip around Seonghwa's waist tightened, as Seonghwa rested his hands on Hongjoong's chest as gave his full into the kiss. They kissed on, not getting enough of each other, even if they had kissed so many times. This kiss was different, it was like sealing a promise forever and neither wanted to let go of it.
"Yoooo enoughhhh!"
"Cut! Cut! Cut!"
"Let's eat nowwww!"
"I want the cake!!"
"J-Joong what are they-"
"Im sorry for bringing these hooligans in here but...err....they were the ones who actually came up with the plan, honey."
"R-Really?"
"CONGRATULATIONS FUCKERS!"
Seonghwa looked around only to see Yunho, Mingi, Wooyoung, San, Yeosang and Jongho cramming the place, surrounding the engaged couple, cheering, smiling and clapping. Seonghwa's eyes watered once again, overwhelmed by the situation.
"Th-Thank you guys-"
"Eyyy Hwa hyung, stoppp!" Wooyoung cried, "But you know what, you're a real fool. How could you think that this 'good for nothing' hyung," he pointed at Hongjoong, "Could come up with this brilliant idea without my help?"
"Hold up! Did you just call me a 'good for nothing', Woo?" Hongjoong asked, looking very concerned.
"Oh yeah 'cause you are!"
"Wooyoung you weren't the only one who came with everything," interjected Yunho, "I literally had to teach hyung the entire speech and also how to write all those romantic shits on those papers, even though I'm not that good-"
"Fuck it, Yun," Hongjoong cried, "It's not like you haven't ever written all that for Ming-"
"You didn't even know what to wear-"
"Shut up Yeo!"
"We had to choose and order the cake too-"
"Jongho stop!"
"And those food items-"
"Ughh you people stop exposing me!"
"Look, I don't know anything but I think I'll have to eat something right now," Wooyoung interrupted, looking very grumpy, "I'm hungry!"
"You're always hungry!" complained his boyfriend San.
"Shut up! It's because-"
"Wooyoung-"
"Guys! Guys! Guys! Stop!" Seonghwa finally spoke, smiling at all of them, "Thank you, thank you so much, all of you, for today! This will definitely be one of the best memory of mine. And yes c'mon now...let's go eat!"
"IT'S FEAST TIMEEEE!"
* * *
"And they lived happily ever after."
"Dad, can we read another one?"
"Not today flower," Hongjoong said, as he tucked his little daughter under her blankets, putting the story book on her bedside table.
"Pleaseeee?" asked the girl with her big doe eyes looking up pleadingly at her dad.
"Don't you have school tomorrow, petal?" he asked softly, "Also we already read two stories today. Let's keep the rest for tomorrow, okie?"
"Okieee! Good Night Daddy!"
"Good night, love," Hongjoong whispered, as he kissed his little girl on her forehead, switched off the lights and left the room.
"Baby's asleep?" asked Seonghwa, as soon as Hongjoong entered their room.
"Yes," he replied, lying down beside Seonghwa, cuddling him under the blankets, "Though she wanted to hear more stories. Such a little stubborn lady, just like you!"
"Ohh am I stubborn?" Seonghwa asked jokingly, wrapping his arm around Hongjoong's waist, "So, what was it today?'
"Mn the usual. Fairy tales. Those happily ever after and all..."
"But not all stories with those endings are fairy tales, are they?" Seonghwa questioned, looking at his husband with a soft smile on his lips.
"What do you mean, darling?" asked Hongjoong, a little confused at Seonghwa's words.
"Look at us, Joongie," whispered Seonghwa, "Isn't this the definition of 'Happily Ever After'?"
Hongjoong paused for a minute, a smile slowly lighting up his face. All those incidents from his life flashed like a cinema reel in front of his eyes and he couldn't help but smile brightly. He quickly gave Seonghwa a light kiss on his lips and said,
"Yes Hwa. You're right. Not all of them are fairy tales, 'cause," he looked deep into those beautiful rich brown eyes of his husband, emotions slightly choking his voice, "We did have a happy ending. We are indeed living happily ever after."
Seonghwa smiled and kissed him back. He turned off the lights and soon the couple fell asleep in each other's arms.
Not all stories are fairy tales and Hongjoong and Seonghwa had realised that better than anyone. Because even after all the hardships and life threatening situation they had gone through, at the end of the day, they really lived happily ever after.
