Unwanted Encounter
James liked Fallon. She couldn't believe it. She refused to believe it. Fallon didn't like James in that way. She knew she would have to tell him eventually. She couldn't lead him on. That's not the type of person she wanted to be. If she did that to James, Noah would think she'd do it to him, and she couldn't have that. She was panicking, she didn't want this. If it had been Noah, it would be fine, but it wasn't. There wasn't anything she could do about it. She sighed, and fell asleep, thinking of Noah.
The next day was Sunday. Fallon didn't want to do anything today. It was raining outside, so she didn't want to go out. She knew she had to go to the shop at one point as she was running out of food. Fallon was good with money, as she had to rely on herself. She decided she would go today. She threw on a jumper, skinny jeans and trainers, then picked up her bag and called a taxi.
Fallon liked going to the shopping centre. Even though it was busy, she liked getting out of the house. She decided to buy lunch at the diner before she went food shopping. The shopping centre was full of people starting their Christmas shopping, even though it was almost a month away. Fallon needed to do hers at some point too, maybe she could do it today. She took a seat by the window of the diner, and ordered her food. She put her headphones in and sat silently staring out of the window. She kept one earphone out, so she could hear the waitress with her food. She was calm, watching the world go by. Walking past the window was James. He saw her and walked into the diner, sitting at the seat opposite her. He was the last person Fallon hoped to encounter. She sighed and rolled her eyes as he sat down. The waitress came back to the table with Fallon's order, a burger and chips. James took one of the chips and ate it without asking. This really annoyed Fallon. She ate in silence, trying to ignore him. He'd made it really awkward for them, it wasn't her fault. Eventually, Fallon had to break the awkward, uncomfortable silence. She had to know why he kissed her.
"James, what was last night about?" He looked at her, surprised by her question. An uncomfortable look crossed his face as he tried to find an answer.
"Umm... I... I don't know..." He stuttered. He needed time to find an answer. He couldn't judge Fallon's reaction. She didn't show her emotion often, and she was eating. That doesn't help. The silence returned to them. "Fallon, I'm sorry... I... Kissed you. Sorry it made us awkward..." He trailed off and looked at her. Fallon smiled at him in a forgiving way. She understood. She finished her food, paid and continued shopping. James decided to hang around with her, hoping to rebuild their friendship and make it less awkward. Part of him regretted it, but the rest loved it.
