After lunch, the guidance counsellor ordered a full sweep of every girls bag for Fallon's ring. Fallon already knew who had it, but she told no one. That would give it away. The head teacher came into Fallon's class, and ordered all girls to empty their bags into their desks. Fallon complied, having nothing to hide. From behind her, Fallon could hear a voice.
"Huh? What's this doing here?" Fallon turned around to see Penelope holding up Fallon's ring. Perfect. The head teacher marched over to Penelope's desk and took the ring.
"Is this your ring, Fallon?" The teacher presented it to her. Fallon looked tearful as she took it back.
"Yes, sir." All eyes were on Penelope. She didn't know how the ring got into her bag, but she was being accused of stealing it. She would never do that. Not to someone she hardly knew. The head teacher ordered her to collect her stuff and leave the classroom immediately. Fallon hoped that this would be the event that would result in Penelope getting expelled.

After class, Fallon decided to walk home alone. She fiddled with the ring, lost in thought. Sometimes she wished she had her mum around like most other girls her age. Her mum never spent any time with her. Her mum was never around. Neither was her dad. They didn't seem to care about anything other than earning money. They didn't even spend any time together. It was like Fallon, her mum and her dad all led separate lives without even knowing of each other's existence. Fallon sighed and slipped the ring on her finger. It was a fit, which often surprised Fallon. She wasn't looking where she was going, as she was looking at the ring, when she heard a shout.
"Fallon look out!" It was Victoria. Fallon looked up in the direction and saw a car approaching her. She quickly sprinted to the curb as quick as she could, avoiding getting ran over by mere seconds. She was breathing loudly in relief. Victoria waited until no more cars were coming, then crossed the road to meet Fallon. "You really should look where your going." Fallon blushed a little in embarrassment. Victoria was right, she really should've been looking at where she was going. "I see you got your ring back, huh." Fallon looked down at the ring on her finger. They started to walk as they continued their conversation.
"Yeah. Penelope stole it." Fallon was a little bit distant. She was shaken, she would've been dead if it wasn't for Victoria.
"Yeah, I heard. Did you hear she got expelled?" Fallon's eyes widened with shock. It had actually worked. She had gotten Penelope expelled. That meant she had one less rival to eliminate. She couldn't let Victoria catch onto her thoughts.
"Wow. I didn't expect that." But Fallon did. It had been her goal the whole time. They continued to talk as they walked back to Fallon's. "Um, do you want to come in for a while, maybe stay the night?" Victoria looked at her, surprised by Fallon's request. She smiled and nodded her head.
"I would like that very much."
