The startling truth
(I edited Dayak to make her look younger)
Elara and Haggar were clearly NEVER going to get along. Haggar was far too psycho, narcissistic, and creepy for Elara get along with. Dayak knew that Elara doesn't know who Haggar really is so she thinks it's a good idea to tell her. The kids were all occupied while Elara and Dayak talked as they usually, oh boy...
"Elara, you and Haggar will clearly never ever be nice to eachother but there's something you need to know that is very important and startling." Dayak said carefully. Elara's tilted a bit.
"And that is?" Elara asked. Dayak got close to Elara's ear so Lotor won't hear her.
"Haggar was Honerva, Lotor's mother." Dayak whispered. Elara scowled in disgust, Haggar is one hell a mother isn't she?
"Kids we'll be right back ok?" Elara said, smiling at the children who nodded. Elara and Dayak stepped out of the room.
"So you're telling me that that witch is Lotor's birth mother? Zarkon married THAT?" Elara asked in clearly bewilderment. Dayak nodded slowly, as if ashamed to admit such a thing.
"Zarkon obviously doesn't remember then... the quintessence must have wiped out some memories. He hates her guts though, he can't stand to think about her after what she did to that child. She abandoned them both for quintessence, she wasn't even fully corrupted yet." Elara said, her ears pinned down feeling awful for Lotor, he didn't deserve that at such a young age.
"If he finds out who she is, he'll lose his mind in rage. Oh thank the gods he married you. He saw how much Lotor cared about you and how much you cared about him, she is not his mother, you are." Dayak says. Elara smiled softly.
"You better not make me cry." Elara said, chuckling and wiping away tears that formed at the corners of her eyes. "But seriously... ew..." Elara said.
"She didn't always look like that, the quintessence changed her, a lot, but look at you, a strong, beautiful, hard headed, scary, Galra woman. You have been exposed to quite an amount of quintessence and you haven't changed a bit, unless you get mad. You Elara, are an upgrade." Dayak said, smiling at the Empress. The two hugged, they were like mother and daughter, Dayak has been like a second mother to Elara ever since her and Sendak's parent passed away from illness.
"Thank you for telling me Dayak. Not the best thing to find out, but thank you." Elara said softly smiling. Elara knew deep down that one day Lotor would want to ask about his birth mother as he got older and it was actually worrying her a lot, but she also knew that Lotor saw her as his mother and it made her happy instantly, until she remembered that she'd never truly have a happy family, Zarkon isn't the same benevolent, kind soul anymore. It was only a matter of time until things changed for worse or for better....
