Comfort turned comedy
Bellatrix and Zanthea came back to Daibazaal after Zarkon contacted them. They knew why they were called and knew they'd have to face the inevitable at some point. They'd be staying there with their families until Elara passed, she has an estimated two months left and the hours of each day were painful for everyone. She wasn't in pain at all but she was getting more and more tired. Zarkon convinced to stop working and she refused but gave in soon. Right now it was pretty early and usually Elara would wake herself up but nope, she was fast asleep while Zarkon woke up and internally panicked.
'Oh no... What the fuck?! Ulaz you liar!' he thought to himself as he panicked.
He whacked her in the arm earning a gasp from her as she jolted awake.
"For what reason?" She groaned tiredly as she turned around and saw him frowning as if he was depressed.
"You can't even wake yourself up anymore." He said sadly.
"Zarkon I'm fi-"
"Stop saying you're fine. Clearly you're not fine. You're slipping away and you know it. I only have two months with you left. It isn't and never will be easy." He snapped.
She flinched when he snapped at her but didn't get mad at him at all, she knew and understood he was hurting. She knew how to ease his heartache so she got up and stood in front of him but he couldn't look at her. She didn't say a single word and hugged him to at least try to comfort him. After a few moments he hugged her back still sitting in the bed and she stood up.
"I know you're hurting bad, but this isn't something we can control, we been together for 10,000 years and surprisingly we aren't tired of each other. Once I go, whenever that is, I won't be gone permanently. I'll always be with you and everyone else in this family." Elara said.
"It won't be the same." Zarkon said sadly.
"I know but you'll be with me, making everything difficult for me again one day." Elara said.
"You can count on that. I swear your life will be difficult even in the afterlife." Zarkon jokes.
"Well look who's cracking jokes." Elara chuckled.
"I now know that I'll be with you again someday. But there's only one thing I'm truly worried about..." Zarkon said.
"What is it turtle man?" She giggled.
"When you're gone... Whose guts am I going to rearrange then?" He asked.
"Oh my gods Zarkon..." She sighed.
"It's a genuine and serious question." He chuckled.
"Well you're screwed." She said.
Seems like she knows exactly how to comfort him in hard times, however, he's clinging to whatever happiness he has left with her. She seems fine now but she's still declining. At least she's being kept happy.
