Payment In Chocolate Chip Cookies

"Natie... Please go to sleep..." Patrick pleaded as his adopted child continued to cry from her crib. He shushed her with a soft voice as he bent down to hold her in his arms.

The little girl immediately grabbed hold of the fabric of the loose tee shirt that he wore to bed. Her cries didn't cease, prompting Patrick to begin rocking her small figure.

"You're okay, I promise..." He soothed, "It's alright, Natie..."

Her cries softened, but still continued. Patrick began to hum and walk around the room. She tugged at his shirt the entire time, continuing her soft cries.

Patrick was tired. It was about three in the morning now, but Natasha had been awake since about two twenty. Patrick didn't want to wake Pete up, so he had been dealing with their daughter for the past fourty minutes by himself.

"Natasha I will literally pay you in chocolate chip cookies at this point." Patrick pleaded after having her nearly asleep, but stepping on a squeaking toy that woke her up again.

A soft chuckle carried through the air behind Patrick. "I thought I was going to be the one to crack under cookie pressure."

Patrick turned to see Pete in the doorway. His husband had a tired smile on his face as he held out a sippy cup. "This might help." He offered, "It helped my friend, Megan, when her kids woke up at ungodly hours."

Patrick smiled. "What would I do without you?" He asked as he hurriedly stepped over to Pete. He connected their lips just briefly before pulling away and holding Natasha out to Pete. He shifted his arms to hold her before handing her the bottle.

Natasha was quick to swipe the sippy cup from Pete's hand and pop it into her mouth. Her eyes drooped almost immediately as she drank from it.

"We should send a thank you letter to your friend." Patrick awed as he and Pete began to walk over to her crib.

Pete just smiled as he lowered Natasha into her crib. Patrick leaned against him, enjoying the warmth of Pete's bare skin. Natasha was now asleep; it almost made Patrick jealous how quickly Pete had managed it.

"I'm sorry if we woke you up..." Patrick mumbled as Pete wrapped his arm around him.

"Nah," Pete shook his head, "The group chat lit up. Kellin got transfered hospitals about ten minutes ago."

Patrick stood up straight to look at Pete. "What happened to Kellin?"

A small frown formed on Pete's lips, "Vic called it complications..." He turned to Patrick, "Should we go visit them?"

Patrick nodded. "If Kellin can have visitors. Besides," a laugh escaped Patrick's lips, "Ryan would love an opportunity to babysit."

"You're going to make his day, punk." Pete smiled. He pulled Patrick close and pressed their lips together. Patrick slid his arms around Pete's bare torso, sliding them down a bit to hold the hip of Pete's pajama pants.

Pete pulled away with a hum. "There's a child present, punk, for shame." A delilish smirk played itself on his lips.

Patrick rolled his eyes. "It's too late for that, I'm bed." He paused. "I mean tired." He corrected himself.

Pete laughed. He didn't say anything before Patrick found himself being scooped into his husband's arms. He was never used to the feeling, but was able to restrain himself from squealing. He in no way wanted to risk Natasha waking up after that struggle to get her to sleep. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Pete's neck as he was carried out of their daughter's room.
