Don't 'Chya Wanna Dance?
How the two girls slept through the party going on in the living room could be added to one of life's great mysteries. Brendon and Ryan were making out in a dark corner by the kitchen while Spencer, Jon, and Steven were all chanting for Max to "chug, chug, chug!" His way through several cans of beer. Breezy and Jack were cheering on Alex and Dallon as they sang into an ancient karaoke machine Patrick had found in the back of his closet. Hayley danced behind the couch, occasionally adding her own "WHOOP" of encouragement.
Patrick stood by the hallway, listening for the sound of the toddlers crying. Last he checked, they were sound asleep, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
"Hey, come join the party, Punk." Pete laughed as he left the kitchen area. He walked over to Patrick and leaned against the wall beside him. "The kids are alright." He insisted, offering Patrick a red solo cup.
Patrick took the cup with a small smile. "Just checking." He shrugged before taking a sip. The alcohol burned on the way down, but Patrick shook it off.
"I kind of miss doing things like this on the nightly." Pete said, looking around the room. "Everyone together, having a good time."
"Yea." Patrick chuckled, trailing his gaze over his friend's various activities. "It's hard to beat this."
Pete kissed Patrick's cheek. "We could... I mean, no one would miss us for a few minutes if we slipped off to the bedroom..." He wrapped an arm around Patrick and pressed his lips to his neck.
Patrick inhaled a sharp breath. Everyone was preoccupied, but that piece of paper slipped into the front of his thoughts. He still had no idea what to think about that situation.
"Maybe later." Patrick said, regretfully pushing Pete away. Pete frowned, but nodded. Patrick looked towards the group doing karaoke. Breezy was now singing into a microphone that Dallon held out to her with a huge smile on her face. "Did you know they're married?"
Pete followed Patrick's gaze. "Dallon and Breezy? No they aren't."
Patrick laughed. "He put a ring on it, trust me, I've seen it."
"Why do you get to learn the big secret?"
Patrick turned back to Pete. "Because I'm special." He teased, earning a quick peck on the lips from his husband.
The beat of the music shifted, filling the air with an eighties hit. Patrick raised his cup, letting out a cheer.
"Patrick! You have to sing it!" Hayley yelled.
"Do it, do it!" Jack encouraged, fist pumping as Alex ran over with a microphone.
Patrick started to object, but Pete grabbed his hand and pulled him over to the machine. "This is your song!" He grinned in a way that Patrick couldn't help but smile back at. He grabbed the microphone from Alex just as the lyrics began to pop up on screen.
"Clock strikes upon the hour and the sun begins to fade." He sang, shutting his eyes and letting himself fall into the rhythm of the song. He shook his hips, hearing cheers and whistles from his friends encouraging him on.
"Oh! I wanna dance with somebody!" Patrick opened his eyes with the chorus. Hayley, Alex, and Breezy were all up and dancing. Jack held his phone up, waving it to the beat. Dallon clapped, though he was watching Breezy with laughter on his lips. Pete still had that wide grin on his face, bobing his head and tapping his foot to the beat. Patrick grinned at him. "I wanna feel the heat with somebody!" He held his hand out to Pete, beckoning him closer.
Pete jumped closer as the girls cheered.
"Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody!" Patrick grabbed hold of Pete's hand. Pete pulled him closer, barely leaving any spaces between them. Patrick rolled his hips, keeping his eyes away from Pete's in a teasing manner. Everything felt so right in this moment. Friends, or rather, family surrounding them and having a blast. Somebody who loved him held him close while looking at him in a way that made him want to melt. Everything about this moment felt perfect.
"With somebody who loves me!"
