*Emily's P.O.V.*

Needless to say Nasreen was ticked off that a top FBI agent like Elizabeth was compromised; Clyde was definitely sad to discover that Bonnie was a double agent for Senator Morra. Even though I didn't necessarily break any of my rules, I was still locked up in my safe house without Rue, Benny, Mom or Dad. I still had my phone and my backpack filled with goodies, but either than that I was on my own.

I plopped down in a chair near the window, huffing as I stared out to the New York City skyscrapers. I was close enough to the ground to make out the citizens down on the ground below, but high enough that escaping through the window was out of the option. Bored, I went to the kitchen and looked among the fridge and cabinets, looking to make some food for my dinner. Discovering a knife, I shrugged before stabbing it into the wall, going back to search the cabinets.

The front door unlocked, causing me to grab another knife and my backpack, ducking behind the kitchens island. I could hear the door open and close, mentally sighing in relief when I recognized the sounds of the footsteps. Deciding to play cautiously, I peeked over the island, to see Mom looking around for me. I slowly got to my feet, trying not to giggle as I spoke out loud, "Hey Mom!" Mrs. Cooper jumped and spun around, groaning when she saw me, "Emily! Dont do that! What the heck happened?..... And why is there a knife in the wall?"

"What can I say? I was bored!" I shrugged, making Mom a peanut butter, jelly, honey, and chocolate icing sandwich, adding casually, "My one agent, Bonnie, turned out to be a spy working for Senator Morra. She kidnapped me and gave me up to the senator; we had a nice discussion about my birth mother and trust issues......" "WOW, WOW WOW!!! Slow DOWN, Emily!" Mom took a few steps forward, smiling worriedly as she shrugged, asking, "You talked with Senator Morra?"

I nodded, foldings up the monster of a sandwich, "Yep! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Are ya hungry?" I put the sandwich on a plate and held it out to Mom to take. My adoptive mom looked confused and concerned, taking the plate only to sit it back down on the island. I shrugged and grabbed the sandwich, quietly observing, "Ok, so your too stunned to be hungry." I took a bite out of the sandwiched, smiling dreamily at the taste of peanut butter, jelly spread, honey and chocolate icing, "Hmmmmmm!!! Delicious! I'm an amazing chef!"

Mom, always hating when I ramble on and on, exploded, "EMILY COOPER, NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO BE EATING A SANDWICH AND DISCUSSING THE LACK OF COOKING ABILITIES YOU HAVE!!! I CAME ALL THE WAY FROM WORK TO TAKE YOU AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE CITY AND FROM THE INSANE SENATOR!!!!" "Really? Cause the only on here whose acting crazy is you." I raised an eyebrow at mom, licking some chocolate icing off of my nose, "Second, why would I wanna run away? Senator Morra does not seek to kill me!" Mom glared at me, growling, "Emily.....!"

Vooooom! Vooom! Vooom! I looked down at my phone, seeing Benny calling me. Holding up my index finger, I told Mom, "One second; Benny's calling me. I'll be right back!" Grabbing the phone, I left my mother steaming in the kitchen as I walked into the living room. I swipped the cell phones answer button, holding the phones speaker up to my ear as I asked, "Yellow?" "Hey, Emily?" Benny's voice came from the phone, "Are you able to get out of the safe house?" "Well," I quietly spoke, eyeing my mom as she cautiously eyed the knife in the wall, "My mom left the front door open, so I should go through there....." I could hear Benny's surprised voice squeak,

"Emily, get out of there!!!!"

"Why? Is it because this lady is actually the Shadow Lady?"

"Yes!....... Wait, what?"

I noticed Mom, aka the Shadow Lady, looking at me, speaking to Benny, "I'll call you back." Benny's pleading voice was cut off by me ending the call, glaring down the lady in front of me. The Shadow Lady raised an eyebrow at me, asking in surprise, "How did you know it was me? We've never met before!" "You may have got my mom's looks and walking pattern down to a tee, but you forgot one thing." I slung my backpack over my shoulder, giving the Shadow Lady one more glance before walking out of the safe house, calling back, "My mother would have accepted the sandwich!"

The Shadow Lady followed me out of the safe house, down the flight of steps and to the sidewalk outside, pausing when she reached the buildings door. She didn't physically follow me across the street, but did with her eyes and with her breaking heart. I walked through a alleyway to another street, quietly kicking myself for leaving my birth mother back there. But, hey, she may be my birth mother, but she choice me over the love she once had with Senator Morra. And I refuse to be a child to divorced parents.

After texting Benny and walking for several minutes, I finally reached the Central Park, walking towards the Gapstow Bridge. Ever since we watched Home Alone 2, this certain bridge was a favorite for Rue, Benny and I to hide at if we got into trouble, or if we needed a place to have some peace and quiet. Sure enough, I could see Rue and Benny standing on the bridge, watching the ducks swim by. I smiled to myself; I'm definitely blessed to have Rue and Benny as my sister and best friend....... Snap.

I began to run at the two, yelling, "Rue!!!!! Benny!!!!! Run!!!!!"

I wasn't fast enough.

Men, holding semi automatic rifles and pistols, grabbed Rue and Benny and began to drag them away! I ran after the men as Rue and Benny were dragged out of the park and forced into a black van, determined to set them free. I called out as I raised my knife, "LET MY FRIENDS GO.......!!!!!" Bang! Bang! Someone was shooting at me from behind! I simultaneously ducked down and spun around, tossing the knife at the person as if it was a throwing knife. The knife found it's mark......

In the chest of the Shadow Lady.

As I blinked at my birth mom, she laying motionless in the grass, Sands men took off with my sister and best friend. As a ambulance came roaring into the park, I glared after the direction of where the van had taken off. In order to break me, theres a lot of things you could mess around with. But theres one thing you dare not touch, and that's the safety of my family. And Sands has just let the monster inside of me rise......
