Fubuki Shirou and Fubuki Atsuya attracted a lot of people.
The audience from the soccer world regarded them as an exceptional duo. They were always bombarded in every corner of the school.
"There's so much people, bro," said the bear killer, Atsuya. He looked like he was whining about it. I saw Shirou smiled, but it was an uncomfortable one. Who would be comfortable with the people in school surrounding you every single day as if they do not get tired of it?
I could see a lot of girls pushing among themselves to get closer enough to Shirou, even boys so they could get his autograph.
I was told by one of my friends that the school tried to expel the chaos at school, but they were unable to stop it. They tried to regulate it instead, they separated the schedules of the two brothers; Shirou in the morning while Atsuya in the afternoon.
I find it very overwhelming being in the crowd along with them. There were times I was pulled in by my friend just so they could get to talk to Atsuya during lunchtime.
A few times that I was being forced to be in the same crowd as the Fubuki Brothers; I could feel somebody staring at me, but every time I looked at the direction of where the stare was coming from, there was no one who was looking at me.
I looked at the troubled brothers and quickly left the scene, not wanting to join the crowd yet again.
When I was able to settle on my seat in the classroom, I was approached by Miko, another friend of mine.
"Hey (Y/N)! I heard that our soccer team is training for the upcoming tournament! They could potentially be the champion among all the schools!" She jumped up and down in excitement. I smiled in amusement. She looked so pumped up, her eyes shimmering like a child. She was like any other person who loved soccer.
"I'm excited too," I said, trying to sound cheerful.
Honestly, I am so thankful I can read people's mouth whenever they speak. If they knew I was deaf, I don't think they would treat me the same as they treat the others.
She went on and on about how she was so amazed with the teams from the city were all so talented. Their hissatsu techniques were really cool. I laughed when she eventually shifted her attention to Seishou Gakuen's Haizaki and Kidou.
I assume that the bell rang because she frowned and pat me on the shoulder, signaling she was going to go back to her classroom. I bid her a farewell and I was left alone. Students began to rush in the classrooms and went to their respective places.
I did not realize that I was spacing out until somebody had poked my side. I jumped up slightly from my seat and looked at my right to see the one and only the Prince of Snowfields,
"Oh, Shirou-san," he gave his signature prince charming smile.
"I called you three times but you didn't notice or seem to hear me," I laughed nervously.
"Wh-why are you staring at me like that?" I asked when I felt he was looking at me intently that caused me to fake confusion. It was probably unintended because he was surprised. He shook his head and just smiled again.
"I want to hang out with you after dismissal," did I read that right? One of the Prince of Hakuren wanted to hang out with me?
"Are you sure that you want to do something later with me?" I asked, just to make sure. He tilted his head to the side in an innocent manner.
"Of course, (Y/N)."
'C-cute...!' I thought. I was flustered at the moment he posed so cutely without even putting that much effort. I could not say a word but just nodded, embarrassed that he looked like he was anticipating the answer.
Since the day we spend time together, we ended up being pretty close. He was really kind. I was not surprised about it though. The time I first met him, I could sense how kind-hearted he was. He truly is the other half of his brother, Atsuya.
At last, we were on our school break, I decided just to stay at home and just practiced the way I speak. My mother said I was getting better and better each time, which was a good sign.
Ever since I received my hearing aid, I was able to train my voice better. Since I could not hear my own voice without my helping device, I tend to get nervous because I did not want to sound too weird that could cause laughter.
The first time I wore it during middle school was the last time I wore it out. I was a child, yet I was bullied. I felt so different. I thought was just like the other children, human. To think that they treated me as if I was more another planet caused trauma up until now.
I heard the knock of my door, thinking ot was my mother.
"Please come in," I said as I dusted myself after standing up from my chair. I did not expect this. The one who opened the door made me drop my casual smile.
'Wh-why...why is...Shirou here...?'
I could feel tears welling up in the corner of my eyes. What is he going to think of me now?
That I am different?
That I am Deaf?
Was it my fault for being deaf?
"(Y-Y/N)..." more tears began to form, some of them already running down from my face. At least I was able to hear his voice now.
"This doesn't change the way I look at you, (Y/N)," he slowly said while approaching me cautiously. I backed away while shaking my head, my eyes closed tightly.
"I-I...I don't need pity, Shirou-san. I just need acceptance," I said tearfully. I could feel sudden warmth, I opened my eyes and gaze at Shirou, hugging me.
"You're really oblivious huh," he chuckled and brushed my hair away from my face, tucking it behind my ear. I bit my tongue and looked down.
"I-I don't know what you're saying, Shirou-san," I truthfully admitted.
"I already knew you were deaf. There's nothing wrong with it either," he shrugged his shoulders. I furrowed my eyebrows and continued to stare at him, but in confusion. He saw my reaction and just smiled amusingly,
"I noticed that you would only notice people whenever you look at them or they tapped on your shoulder to catch your attention. I don't think it's only because you space out a lot," his explanation was precise and with evidence. His observation skills are excellent, a nice asset for a soccer player.
"I'm sorry I didn't told you earlier, I was scared you would ignore me if you knew," I said, ashamed at my actions.
"I know, you probably think it'll look so ridiculous wearing something that's different from the others, but trust me, different is nice," He grinned.
He was the reason why I became more confident.
