Chapter 28
Taehyung woke up in the middle of the night and realized he had fallen asleep on the couch. He rubbed his eyes and stretched before getting up and going to his room to change. He looked around after changing as if something was missing.
"Jungkook!"
Taehyung's eyes went wide as he woke up completely and searched his house for him.
"Jungkook?"
No answer.
"Kookie, where are you?"
Still nothing.
Taehyung picked his phone and dialed Jungkook's number hoping he still had the same one. When a faint ringing was heard, Taehyung started looking around for the device. He heard it close to the door and walked over to the main door. He opened it when the ringing became clearer and there sat Jungkook, looking up, slightly sniffing and hiccuping. Taehyung put his phone away and walked up to him silently and sat beside him.
Jungkook didn't say anything when Taehyung came and for a moment it seemed like he wasn't even aware of the younger's presence. Taehyung turned his head slightly towards him to see him and smiled at the teary sight of Jungkook.
/Looks like he finally let it out./
Jungkook felt the other's eyes on him and turned making Taehyung flustered as he immediately turned away.
"Tae?"
Taehyung slowly looked back at him with a small smile.
"Yeah?"
Jungkook didn't have one of his own, though.
"I'm leaving."
Taehyung blinked in confusion.
"What?"
Jungkook took in a deep breath and rubbed his face clean with the back of his hand, as he looked ahead.
"I'm leaving this country. I can't stay here anymore."
/Told you he doesn't love you anymore./
"Why- I mean where will you go?"
Taehyung tried to not look or sound sad but it seemed like Jungkook didn't even care about him at the point.
"I don't know. Just away from here. To start again."
Taehyung didn't know what to say to that. If Jungkook wanted to start again then that meant that he didn't want to keep in touch with Taehyung anymore.
"Ok."
Silence fell upon them. Taehyung was crushed inside out and had nothing to say anymore. Jungkook had clearly told him off and there wasn't any doubt in his words that could give Taehyung even slightest of a hope that he could have a chance.
Jungkook left the next morning without much talk and Taehyung didn't say anything either when the other left. They shared small heartless and cold 'goodbyes' without even meeting eyes and that was that.
After Jungkook left, Taehyung stayed home that day instead of going for work. He couldn't bring himself to get up and go out. He sat on the couch where Jungkook and him slept last night- well, maybe only he slept and not Jungkook.
After a moment of silence, Taehyung started giggling and was eventually, laughing. He doubled over until he had tears in his eyes and clutched his tummy.
"My God!"
Taehyung wiped his eyes as he straightened up and took in a deep breath.
"You actually killed her for me, God? I can't believe you love me this much."
He got up and went over towards the mirror and stared at his reflection. His hand traced his facial features softly as he gazed at his own eyes.
"I'm so ethereal that even God goes beyond reasons for me."
He scoffed as he glanced at the door Jungkook left from.
"You'll come back to me. I know, you will. I just have that effect."
