Chapter 23
That night Taehyung barely got any sleep. Actually, he got none.
But I still love you.
Those words didn't seem to leave Taehyung no matter how much he tried to shoo them away. He wanted to ignore them and forget them but couldn't.
"Fuck you, Jungkook." Taehyung harshly whispered as he sat up in his bed and held his head in his hands.
He checked the time and it was some minutes past three in the morning.
/I've been awake all night?/
Taehyung groaned as he dropped back and stared at the ceiling trying to find a way to make himself fall asleep. But all he could think of was Jungkook, Jungkook and Jungkook.
"Aish!" Taehyung ruffled his hair and flapped his legs on the bed in frustration before getting up to wash his face.
He still had five days to spend here and he had no idea how long Jungkook would be staying here to torture him.
/Was this the only place left on the entire God forsaken planet for him to come to? And right in front of my fucking room? Really now, God? Why are you doing this to me? I thought you were on my side./
Taehyung washed up and stared at his reflection.
"Kim Taehyung, what's gotten into you? You're above this. Get your shit together, already."
He clapped his wet hands together before clapping them on his face and walked out. Sleep was no where near him so he just went out for a stroll. Since it was pretty late for any sane person to be up, Taehyung thought he could use the silence to help himself get out of his petty internal battle.
Taehyung walked out into the moonlight and put his hands in his pocket as he walked along the wall of his hotel as he recalled the events from the time he had arrived.
The moment he mistakenly walked in on Jungkook while he was changing.
The moment when he saw Jungkook at his door the same evening.
The moment when he talked to Jungkook the next morning.
The moment he felt that pain in his heart after Jungkook left.
The moment he saw that woman with Jungkook.
That woman.
His wife.
Jungkook's wife.
Taehyung didn't even realize he had stopped walking by now and had tears rolling down his cheeks. Taehyung looked to his side and then the other. There was no sign of anyone around as far as he could see so Taehyung sat down right there and pulled his knees up to his chest. He put his arms over it making a cushion to put his head atop and started crying silently before straight out bawling his eyes out.
He didn't really know why he was crying. He couldn't make up his mind if he was crying because he saw Jungkook with someone else or was it because Jungkook had finally made him fall for himself and hurt his ego.
"Jungkook, you piece of shit!"
Taehyung sobbed into his arms as he mumbled and resumed to soaking his sleeves with his tears.
He didn't keep track of the time he spent in crying but it was still dark when he went back in. However, he didn't go to his room directly. He stopped in front of it and faced Jungkook's room.
"You tried to beat me, the almighty Kim Taehyung, in my game. Now, I'll destroy you for challenging me."
And he turned around to move inside his own room. He washed up his tear stained face before he went to bed and fell asleep.
The next morning Taehyung woke up pretty late. Obviously because he was up till late and now he couldn't get up. When he did, finally, the first thing he did after freshening up was to check the whereabouts of Jungkook. He checked the hallway but Jungkook wasn't there. He went down to check the lobby but Jungkook wasn't there either. He couldn't check Jungkook's room since he would have to show himself but he needed to know to make sure if Jungkook was still here or not.
/I could knock and run./
The idea seemed childish but he didn't have much of a choice. So, Taehyung knocked on the door of Jungkook's room and immediately ran into his own. He looked through the peephole to see who came out to check. A moment later the door opened and out came Jungkook's wife. She looked around and turned back to shake her head while standing in the door way before moving back to close it. Taehyung was about to back up but stopped when he heard the door opening again. He looked out and saw her holding her bag as she moved out.
When she left his sight of vision and Jungkook still didnt come out, Taehyung slowly opened his own door to look out if she had left or not. He followed here down to the lobby and when he finally saw her getting in the cab he turned back around and walked up as he rubbed his hands.
/It would be a shame if she left you, wouldn't it now?/
He walked back to his room and sat on the bed thinking of a way to jeopardize Jungkook's marriage without getting the blame. He was in the middle of his thoughts when his phone buzzed. He checked it and found a message from an unknown number.
Unknown
Can I ask u something?
Taehyung wondered who it was and if they were worth his time at the moment but decided to ignore it since his current activity of plotting Jungkook's demise was much more important.
A few minutes later his phone buzzed again.
Unknown
Plz ans me just this once Tae
/Is it Jungkook?/
Taehyung had deleted Jungkook's number soon after they broke up so he couldn't be sure if it was him or not. After all, it might be some other person he played with at some time but doesn't have number of now. It was a plausible possibility.
The third text that came soon after clarified his doubts.
Unknown
I guess u dont hv my number anymore. It's me Jungkook
Taehyung ignored the small feeling rising in his chest at the fact that Jungkook still kept his number even after all this time. He was focused on ruining Jungkook at the moment and there was nothing that could come in his way, especially not some stupid thing like 'feelings'.
/That's right. Kim Taehyung doesn't fall for anyone but himself./
Unknown
What is it?
Did u get intimate with someone after me?
Taehyung felt like he was being accused.
No
Plz tell me the truth
Taehyung felt his blood boil at that. Not because Jungkook was asking him if he whored around or not but because of the idea that he gave Jungkook such an image of himself that he had to ask this. Yes, he blamed himself for making Jungkook think like that. He didn't know why he felt the need to be clean in Jungkook's eyes but he did. And without a second of further delay he called the number he got the text from. Jungkook was probably shocked by the sudden call so it rang twice before he eventually picked up.
"Hello." Jungkook was slightly cautious as he spoke but Taehyung didn't care about that. He immediately defended himself.
"Look, I know things escalated between us much too quickly and, um, it would make sense if you think that I might, uh, you know. But that was just because you were special. It doesn't mean I go around and.. and let people do.. things with me, ok?"
Jungkook mumbled a small 'ok' and even though Taehyung wanted to end the call there because he had already embarrassed himself by stuttering and calling Jungkook 'special' but the next words came out without his permission.
"You were my first and last."
Taehyung widened his eyes at what he just said and ended the call, immediately.
"Shit! No no no no no."
He gripped his head in his hands and groaned. He always made mistakes with his words when it came to Jungkook and he hated it. But then he perked up suddenly.
"Actually, I can use it against him. He did say he still loved me, didn't he?" He sighed and leaned back as he smirked evilly.
"Well then, let's see who are you more loyal to, Jungkook. Your love or your wife?"
