Chapter 21
/Tae, don't do it. Don't do it. You barely got out of your mess last time. Don't do it. Don't-
Oh come on, just this once?
No! Not even once. Don't./
Despite a part of his conscience telling him again and again not to dig another hole for himself, Taehyung still put on the fake look showing that he was trying to hide his pain at the sight of the guy in front of him and looked away before immediately shutting the door in his face.
/You idiot!
Sorry I had to.
No you didn't. But now that you have, let's just have fun.
Yay! I love you.
Of course you do. You are me./
"I've got to stop talking to my conscience like that." Taehyung mumbled to himself as he giggled and moved away waiting for another knock which, of course, came along with another very predictable line filled with worry and sincerity.
"Please open up. I just want to talk."
Taehyung rolled his eyes but didn't say anything back. He wanted to play again since he met his toy after a very long time but he had to meet Jimin first so his toy could wait.
"Taehyung?" Another knock followed by the pitiful voice of his ex echoed in his room sounding like music to Taehyung's ears.
After a few more attempts, the knocking stopped and Taehyung went to look through the peep hole to make sure there was no one out there anymore. Sure enough, there was no one there. Taehyung was sure, however, that Jungkook would come back tomorrow since he had seen Taehyung here now.
Little did he know that the guy who's room he invaded earlier by mistake was non other than Jungkook, himself. Since he didn't expect to see him at all, Taehyung didn't do a double take at him and quietly came out with his head down but Jungkook didn't miss to recognize him which was why he was standing shocked in his spot when he saw Taehyung.
Taehyung moved back and dressed up as he giggled at the impression he had given to his already lovestruck ex with his sudden hot look and jumped up and down in excitement. He had almost forgotten how much he enjoyed playing with his favorite toy aka Jeon Jungkook.
Taehyung picked his phone after getting fully clothed and texted Jimin to see if he was free. Jimin replied soon telling him he was on his way to home so Taehyung quickly got up and picked his wallet before heading out. He didn't have to wait for tomorrow to go over at Jimin's when he could meet him today.
Taehyung checked the hallway like a burglar to see if there was any sign of Jungkook, which was unlikely but it's better to be safe than sorry. When he saw none he rushed down and out of the hotel.
----------
It was around two in the morning when Taehyung came back dragging his feet up the stairs and to his room. He was tired af and his eyes were droopy but he didn't regret it one bit because he had a lot of fun.
He unlocked the door and went straight to bed not even caring that he left his door open. His eyes shut as soon as his head hit the pillow and Taehyung drifted to a deep sleep.
The next morning Taehyung woke up and removed his covers from his face before sitting up. He checked the time and it was noon. He was about to get up to get fresh but in an instant he froze.
/I did NOT have covers on me last night./
Taehyung immediately jumped from his bed and looked under it expecting to see someone. When he didn't find anyone there, he grabbed the chair and headed towards the bathroom to see if someone was in there. He quietly opened the door and peeked in but didn't find anyone there either.
/Someone was definitely here. I can bet my life on it./
*knock knock*
Taehyung shrieked - in a very manly way, and dropped the chair that fell with a thud.
"Are you okay in there?" Jungkook's voice asked from outside and Taehyung tried to calm his racing heart. It wasn't racing because of Jungkook but because of fear that had been running through his body for a few moments now.
"Y-yes. I'm fine. You can go." Taehyung called back as he lifted the chair and put it back in its place.
"Can we talk for a bit?" Taehyung looked at the door as he remembered the little act he did yesterday and smirked as he changed his tone to a struggled one.
"No. Please leave."
"It's not about, um, us? No, I mean it's not about the past. No, that's not what I meant. I mean *sigh*."
Taehyung put his sleeve in his mouth to muffle his giggles as he heard the confused rambling going on outside his door.
"Please leave Jungk-"
"It's about last night." Jungkook blurted out suddenly pausing Taehyung's words as he blinked at his door in confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Taehyung asked as he tilted his head and furrowed his eye brows.
"It's, um, can you at least open up, please? It's weird talking to the door." Taehyung wanted to say 'no' but that would be too much so he decided to show his gorgeous self to the poor guy.
When the door opened, Jungkook forgot what he had to say for a second and Taehyung could clearly see that. But he averted his eyes as soon as they made contact with Jungkook's and he put a hard expression on.
"What about last night?" Taehyung asked softly as he looked at the wall behind Jungkook and the older cleared his throat as he snapped out of his daze. He wanted to hug Taehyung so badly because he missed him so much but be couldn't since he could see how much pain Taehyung was feeling by seeing him.
"Uh, yeah. You didn't turn off your lights last night and your, um, your door was open, too. So I, uh, I came in and, um, I turned them off and put a cover on you and, uh, closed the door on my way out. I didn't touch anything else. I promise." Jungkook was flushed red by the time he stopped talking. He knew it was really awkward to tell all that to Taehyung like he was trying to make him feel burdened by his gracious act but he couldn't help it. He wanted to let Taehyung know that he still cared for him even after all this time. That he still loved him even after he was married.
Meanwhile Taehyung was stuck only on one thing.
"What were you doing here so late?"
Jungkook felt a little offended at the tone of Taehyung but he let it slide since he could tell Taehyung was unaware of Jungkook's stay in the same hotel. It was pretty obvious since he knew that Taehyung hadn't seen him properly yesterday so he didn't know it was Jungkook.
"I, um, I'm staying here. Right across you, actually." Jungkook rubbed his nape and laughed awkwardly as Taehyung 'oh-ed' and then did it again as he realized that he had walked in on Jungkook the previous day.
"I guess you didn't recognize me yesterday." Jungkook desperately wanted to keep the conversation going but Taehyung thought it was best to cut it off here to make it more fun.
"Yeah. I didn't. I, um, I have to go now. So, uh, bye." And with that Taehyung closed the door in Jungkook's face again. He walked back to his bed to fold the covers but stopped and clutched his fabric at where his heart was.
/Ookayy. This is weird. This is very very very weird. Why am I feeling sad? I shouldn't be./
Taehyung shook his head and proceeded with folding the covers, trying his best to ignore the strange feeling. He clearly remembered when he last felt it and it was when he had read Jungkook's text saying that he was getting married in three months. It was the exact same pain he was feeling now but he didn't want to let it grow so he tried to kill it. Again.
Unfortunately, he didn't know that the pain was only about to grow.
