CHAPTER 27

HAPPINESS

SELENE's POV

I was prepared to the worst possible visions from Jane's past but to the least expected... She hits my cheeks with her knuckles making the barrier disappear and I fall behind.

"My lady!" I heard Dark Blade scream inside me.

"I'm alright."

"I... won't let you see it!" Jane shouted, "YOU WILL NEVER BE PERMITTED TO BE HAPPY!!!!!!!!" Her voice echoes in the room and I felt my womb contracted in pain. Not now baby! Please hold on tight and don't leave me and daddy! A tear swell from my cheeks as I stood up and saw Jane drawing a sword and sticking it into her left chest. I know she won't die of any physical pain from the weapons but she is up to something.

I drew Dark Blade into his sword form and clenched on him tightly. I don't need to win but I need to save her.

"Selene! Look out!" I turn my eyes back to Jane and a pair of wings appeared in her back. Black striking feathers sitting all together and compose her wings as she levitated. She wasn't saying any word and her eyes have lost all its colours. Why does she still continue to fight? What is it that she really wants? Why did she have to massacre the people I love?

And that's when another answer hit me.

She doesn't want to kill them but... She thought she didn't have any other options. If I am correct then the answer is...

Jane simply wanted to be loved but because the royal lineage continues on... Her madness also increases. She has been reborn a lot of times but falling for the same entity but always end up hurting. This is it, right? This is the secret she never wanted to tell anyone. She has made the deal with the devil and now she cannot take it again, she wants to finish me and my next successor.

"I won't let you kill anyone anymore Jane... I'll save you." I announced and breathe deeply.

"Really? What do you know about saving when you killed more than me?" She chuckled.

"Liar!"

"Really now? because as far as I remember, your ancestors continue looking for answers and deaths didn't matter to them as long as they reach the answers they needed."

I know what she meant... I have to keep it cool before she infiltrates my mind. Sir Whei explained it to me before the battle started...

"Wait a minute milady!" Sir Whei calls me before I got on my horse.

"What is it Sir Whei? A change of heart?"

"No. But I believe you should know about a council secret that the von Klein might use on you." He sighed as I faced him fully. 

"Spill it, Sir."

"The experiment that the council has been conducting with the direct consent and approvals of the royal family. In other words, your lineage.  The experiment regarding the blood differences... And the blood pills..."

"You mean the project Thana is leading right now?"

"Yes. You should know that this isn't a brand new discovery already... It has been passed from one royalty to the next. I want to tell you that the blood pills failed twice in the examination so the scientists tried adding a vampire's blood but the effect changed its course. The vampires who took the pill mixed with real vampire blood... Hunted the owners and killed them.."

"No one knew?" My eyes darted to some vampire children running around before returning my gaze to Sir Whei.

"Well, their families yes but the rest of the burden was all carried by your late grandparents and parents."

"But with the vampire deaths and sacrifices, we acquire even something right?"

Sir Whei smiled. "Yes, my queen. The current project holder, your sister, Lady Thana has come up with more theories and safer experiments not requiring vampires to do something out of this world." I smiled at the thought of my sister's success. "But milady, I am telling this to you because I know the von Klein will use it on you think you are unaware of it... Please do remember that it is completely not your fault. Do not take all burden in one piece but take note that you should trust and believe in your people and to yourself. That should sit as the key to winning over her"

I clutch on my sword again and glared at her as she started flying looking down on me. I need to end this quickly or my princess will be in danger while I stay here. The cramps are getting more painful.

The moment I blink my eyes was the worst move ever.

"SELENNNNEEEE!!!!"

My eyes dilated as I saw Jane standing close to me squeezing my neck with her pointed fingers almost burying in me.... in a quarter of a second...

"I'll... show you... what hell is... Selene..." Was what I heard then everything turned black...

THIRD PERSON'S POV

The bells ring wondrously as the bride started walking holding her bouquet of red roses. The music sweetly played as the groom waits in a couple more steps. There were so many guests from both families and supporters.

Camera flashes endlessly capturing every happy moment.

"She looks very happy." A wedding coordinator whispers.

"And so does he." The manager whispers.

"But I still can't believe Leo would get married to Jane!!" Another whisper with tickles in her voice.

"What can you say about this Ms. Carmen?" The manager asks to the lady beside her holding some folders.

"Eh?" She absent-mindedly answers.

"Well... How does it feel like that the hottest star you're handling is now getting married?"

"Ugh... I don't know..." She answers and the coordinators were left looking for each other.

"Please excuse me. I'll wait for everyone in the reception hall." She started walking but took a last glance at the happy couple making their vows before the altar.

The wind brushed to her soft cheeks as she left the church. An empty feeling filling her heart... Herself... It feels as if she's forgetting something important in herself. She got on her car and looked at her time.

It had stopped working for quite some time now.

A buzzing sound came approaching and she looks out of the window and there was an aeroplane passing by. She raises her arms as if she'll reach and grab the plane with her bare small hands.

The plane disappears into the clouds and she slowly retreats her hands back to her laps. Suddenly there was knock on her car window so her eyes drifted to the direction of the sound.

She sees a familiar face of a kid and she decided to pull the window down.

"What's up little girl? Do you need anything?" She asks. The child smiles and asks a question she never anticipated...

"Hello. Are you happy seeing him with someone else?"

"Pardon? What do you mean?"

"Your husband... marrying another woman..." There was a fast continuous beat inside her that made her more uncomfortable.

"You may have the wrong girl miss. I'm not married to anyone."

"Are you not?"

A sudden pain occurred in her tummy. She looks down to the source and saw a bump on her tummy. "What the f--" And then the car disappeared and so did the girl.

"Selene!"

"Selene!"

"Selene!"

Different voices called out. Who are they?!

Everything turned black as she loses herself and her consciousness.
