Kai stepped into his room, shutting his door and locking it behind him.

"Computer," he called, "open all files on Selene Blackburn."  

The net screen on his wall ran a search, bringing up a biography and a photograph. Kai involuntarily started staring at the picture of her. She was gorgeous! He had heard she was pretty, but this was beyond his expectations. Kai shook his head, tearing his eyes away from her and scrolling down into the biography. 

Kai's father had told him about Selene's request for a marriage alliance in exchange for the letumosis antidote. Kai just didn't understand why she wanted a marriage alliance with the Commonwealth in particular. They weren't particularly more advanced than the other countries in the Earthen Union or anything. So... why them?

Kai scanned through the biography, a detailed list of life experiences and family history that was only cleared for release to certain people in the Commonwealth government  by the Lunar palace staff responsible for ensuring the royal family's privacy a few minutes ago. 

Kai whistled under his breath. "She's sure had a lot of near-death experiences." He muttered, scrolling through the list. Murderous shells, collapsing pillars, fires, poison... and yet her health was completely fine? No limbs missing or anything?

He scrolled into the part that described her rule as queen so far. She'd performed flawlessly according to her people's standards so far. Regolith poisoning rates in the mines on Luna had decreased considerably due to decreased costs of health care, and quality of living on Luna had also improved dramatically. Of course, that could be a load of propaganda spread by the crown, especially considering that this was information from the crown and Lunars didn't have a great history of honesty. 

But Selene had told Kai's dad to expect a visit soon. How soon? The thought of seeing her in person was enough to twist Kai's stomach into knots. Would he get to meet her? And if he did, how would he do his hair? What would he wear? He had so many questions. Kai hoped he'd get at least a few answered once Selene Blackburn came on her diplomatic mission.
