{25} MIA IN A CAGE WITH DOBBY

As the announcement from Dumbledore filled the Great Hall, signaling the resumption of the movie screening, a buzz of anticipation and curiosity flowed through the room. People around the hall began to settle down, finding their seats and readying themselves for the much-anticipated show.

"MIA POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS"

When the title was exclaimed from the Slytherin table, it caused a ripple of surprise and nervous glances exchanged among the students.

Amidst the murmurs and whispers, Lucius Malfoy's incredulous question cut through the air. "You don't mean you found it, do you?" his eyes widened, and his voice carried a mix of unease and disbelief.

Mia's eyes sparkled as a sly smile tugged at her lips.

"The movie will tell you,"

she responded, her tone imbued with a calculated confidence that hinted at a deeper understanding of the situation, leaving a tinge of uncertainty in the air. The tension in the room was palpable as the audience awaited the beginning of the movie, each person curious and apprehensive about what revelations the film would hold.

[In the clouds during sunset, The film's title in golden letters slowly zooms through the camera afterwards; it is a quiet summer evening in Surrey. Mia Potter is in her bedroom]

"You're in an actual bedroom!" Sirius exclaimed.

"Yeah... well, they were actually afraid that I would something to them." Mia said, smiling.

[looking at the picture book that Hagrid gave her at the end of her first year at Hogwarts; she looks at the picture of her as a baby with her parents, then turns the page to look at a picture of her with her closest friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger; she then hears her owl Hedwig chirping and hooting in her cage.]

As the scenes flickered across the screen and Mia gazed at the pictures of her and her friends during their first year at Hogwarts, a palpable sense of awe spread throughout the room. However, a poignant undercurrent of sadness colored the atmosphere once more, reminding everyone of the loss and absence that shadowed Mia's life.

The adults, in particular, felt the weight of remembrance and longing for Lily and James, whom they dearly missed. Their wistful gazes conveyed a profound sense of yearning for their departed friends. Inwardly, they acknowledged that Mia's yearning for her parents, whom she had never known, was a burden heavier than anyone could fathom.

Mia: I can't let you out, Hedwig. I'm not allowed to use magic outside of school. [Hedwig nibbles at her lock, squawking loudly] Besides, if Uncle Vernon--

"No one has to know." Ron whispered to Mia.

Mia couldn't help but giggle softly in response.

Remus gazed at Hedwig's cage on the screen in disbelief before turning to Mia. "Why is she locked up?"

Mia met their expectant gazes and simply said, "She did some pretty bad things to them."

Her solemn explanation only fueled their curiosity, and everyone continued to peer at her, eager for a more elaborate.

With a fond smile, Mia began, "She's actually quite fierce. When the Dursleys tried to hurt me, Hedwig defended me. That's why they put her in the cage. It's as simple as that."

Vernon: [angrily from downstairs] Mia Potter!
Mia: [glances downstairs then looks at Hedwig before closing his book and going downstairs] Now you've done it. [In the kitchen, Petunia is working on a cake as Mia enters.]

"The cake looks really delicious," Ron remarked, his eyes fixed on the scrumptious cake displayed on the screen.

Mia nodded in agreement, her words holding a hint of reserved acknowledgment, "Yeah, Aunt Petunia is a really good baker." Despite the strained relationship, Mia's attempt to acknowledge Aunt Petunia's skill revealed an underlying effort to move past their differences and find common ground. Her tone hinted at a conflicting mix of reluctance and a genuine attempt to let go of the past grievances.

Petunia: She's in there, Vernon. [Mia enters the living room, where Uncle Vernon is getting Dudley dressed up.]
Vernon: I'm warning you. If you can't control that bloody bird, it'll have to go.

Mia rolled her eyes and glared at the screen. "She wouldn't be all fussed up if she isn't locked in a cage," she remarked, her words tinged with irritation,

Mia: But she's bored. If I could only let her out for... an hour or two.
Vernon: [chuckles] So you can send secret messages to your freaky little friends? No, ma'am.
Mia: But I haven't had any messages from any of my friends. Not one. All summer.

"You guys didn't write her a message?" Sirius's tone carried a hint of accusation, causing a sudden, uneasy silence to settle over the group. Remus fixed them with a stern, disapproving glare, his silence speaking volumes. The palpable frustration at Mia being left alone with the Dursleys, coupled with the absence of communication from their end, fueled their simmering anger.

Mia, sensing the tension, interjected with a firm but calming tone, "Calm down. It will be explained soon," her attempt to diffuse the escalating emotions evident in her expression.

Following a few moments of strained silence, they managed to regain some composure, their lingering worry and unanswered questions casting a shadow over the movie night. Despite their efforts to focus on the film, the unease lingered in the air, overshadowing the otherwise relaxed atmosphere.

Dudley: Who would want to be friends with you? [bumps Mia harshly]

"I would!" Ron and Hermione chimed in simultaneously, their voices laced with solidarity and defiance.

Mia responded with a small, grateful smile, touched by her friends' unwavering support,

Vernon: I should think you'd be a little more grateful. We've raised you since you a were a baby, given you the food off our table, even let you have Dudley's second bedroom, purely out of the goodness of our hearts.

"Grateful? Grateful for what exactly?" Hermione's voice surged with indignation as she yelled at the screen, her words laced with righteous anger. The room crackled with tension, everyone feeling the weight of her words.

"Sleeping in a cupboard under the stairs for her entire life?" Fred's voice echoed with fury, his eyes flashing with indignation.

"Or for being neglected?" Oliver added, his tone reflecting a mix of frustration and empathy. The air in the room grew heavy with the weight of their shared outrage, the impact of years of mistreatment and neglect surfacing in their voices.

"Also, what does he mean by Dudley's second bedroom?" Amelia asked, her voice reflecting genuine confusion and concern for Mia's well-being.

Mia took a few moments before responding, her eyes flickering with a mix of pain and resignation. "That was his closet. My current bedroom was his closet."

Many people in the great hall gasped audibly, the collective astonishment echoing through the room, as the staggering truth of Mia's living conditions came to light. Even Draco, known for his callous demeanor, felt a twinge of sympathy for her, his expression softening for a fleeting moment as he processed the enormity of Mia's hardship.

Mia sank into her place, her posture reflecting the weight of her past as she absorbed the reactions around her.

"So their spoiled son had two bedrooms, while you slept in a cupboard under the stairs for years?" Sirius's voice, although carefully composed, crackled with barely contained rage. The fire in his eyes, however, betrayed the seething anger simmering beneath the surface, mirroring the incredulity and outrage shared by everyone in the room.

Mia simply nodded in response, her eyes bearing the unspoken pain of a decade's worth of mistreatment and neglect.

Petunia: [to Dudley] Not now, bumpkins. It's for when the Masons arrive.

"Bumpkins!" George scoffed, unable to contain his amusement as he let out a hearty laugh.

The sound of laughter filled the air, a chorus of amused reactions echoing through the room at the expense of one of Dudley's embarrassing nicknames.

Vernon: Which should be any minute. [motions for his family to come into the living room] Now, let's go over our schedule once again, shall we? Petunia, when the Masons arrive, you will be...?

"They seriously have a schedule for when people come to visit?" Hermione asked, her disbelief evident in the furrow of her brow and the tone of her voice.

Mia nodded in response, a tinge of resignation coloring her features as she confirmed, "Yeah."

"They are weird but not the kind of weird that I like," Luna chimed in with her characteristic nonchalance, her dreamy gaze fixed on the conversation.

Mia turned to Luna, a small smile playing on her lips as she looked at her friend's unorthodox perspective. "I know, right?" she agreed, sharing a lighthearted moment amidst the weight of their conversation. Giggling softly, she found comfort in Luna's unique way of embracing the peculiarities of life.

Petunia: In the lounge, waiting to welcome them graciously to our home.

"Could these people be any more insincere?" Blaise inquired of Draco in a subdued voice, the skepticism and disapproval evident in his tone.

Vernon: Good. And, Dudley, you will be...?
Dudley: I'll be waiting to open the door.
Vernon: Excellent. [the three of them turn to Mia with scornful looks] And you...?
Mia: I'll be in my bedroom, making no noise and pretending that I don't exist.

"WHAT!"

Many voices rose in disbelief, echoing the shock reverberating through the room.

"It was a long time ago. And I was okay with it," Mia declared with a sense of resignation, attempting to downplay the significance of the past.

"How can you be okay with it?" Draco's astonished inquiry cut through the silence, reflecting the widespread incredulity at Mia's unexpected admission.

"I would do anything to not be around them, so pretending to not exist was the only way out." Mia explained calmly, her response drawing a moment of contemplative silence from the group.

"I would do that too." Pansy said

"Me too." Ron concurred with a shrug.

Vernon: Too right you will. With any luck, this could well be the day I make the biggest deal of my career, and you will not mess it up.
[Mia goes upstairs as the doorbell rings.]
Vernon: [from below] Mr. and Mrs. Mason! Do come in! [Mia hears someone laughing madly in his room.]

Ginny inquired, "What's happening?"

Mia responded simply, "Just wait."

[She opens the door to find, a house elf named Dobby bouncing on her bed.]

Draco's eyes widened in surprise and confusion as he recognized his old house-elf, Dobby, in Potter's room. "What the hell was he doing in Potter's room?" he muttered, his mind racing with questions.

Turning to Draco, Pansy asked in a hushed tone, "What is your old house-elf doing in Potter's room?"

"I have no idea," Draco replied, his voice revealing his perplexity.

Then, Pansy turned to Mia and asked with a hint of urgency, "What is a house-elf doing in your room?"

Mia met Pansy's gaze with a steely look and replied, "You'll find out if you stop asking and continue watching."

Dobby: Mia Potter! Such an honor it is! [Mia closes the door.]
Mia: Who are you?

"What?" Fred said, clearly confused.

"That's not weird at all," George continued, his voice tinged with sarcasm and amusement.

Dobby: Dobby ma'am, Dobby the house elf.
Mia: Not to be to be rude or anything, but this isn't a great time for me to have a house elf in my bedroom.
Dobby: Oh, oh, yes, ma'am! Dobby understands! It's just that, Dobby has come to tell you- it is difficult, Dobby wonders where to begin?
Mia: Why don't you sit down?
Dobby: S-sit down? S-sit- sit down? [he soon begins to cry]

"Why is he crying?" Percy asked, his brow furrowed in concern as he observed the unexpected display of emotion.

"That's weird," Dean remarked, raising an eyebrow in confusion at the baffling situation.

"Exactly, Mia didn't say anything worth crying about," Hermione added, her tone betraying a mix of surprise and skepticism as she tried to make sense of the situation.

Mia: Dobby, ssh! I'm sorry! [Dobby cries louder] I didn't mean to offend you, or anything.
Dobby: [stops crying when he hears that word] Offend Dobby? Dobby has heard of your greatness, but never has he been asked to sit down by a anyone, like an equal.
Mia: You can't have met many decent wizards then.
Dobby: No, I haven't. That was an awful thing to say. [he then bangs his head on the dresser drawer repeatedly] Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby!

Many looked on in shock as Dobby's actions unfolded, their expressions a mix of surprise and concern at the unexpected turn of events.

"Why is he doing that?" Lavender asked in shock, her wide eyes reflecting disbelief and confusion as she tried to make sense of Dobby's behavior.

Mia: Stop, Dobby! Dobby, shh! Dobby, please stop! [From downstairs in the living room, the Dursleys and the Masons are having some wine as they hear the banging from above.]

"Please be quiet, Dobby," Neville implored, his voice filled with urgency and concern as he addressed the house-elf on the screen, clearly not wanting Mia to get in trouble.

"Oh no!" Hermione exclaimed, her eyes widening in distress, her voice carrying a blend of worry and frustration as she watched the unfolding situation.

"He is really pissing me off," Sirius said through gritted teeth, his expression reflecting a mix of anger and protectiveness as he observed the events on the screen.

Vernon: Oh, don't mind that. It's just the... cat [he chuckles lightly, as Mr. and Mrs. Mason look on, being convinced and concerned at the same time.]

"I don't like what's happening," Molly said, her eyes darting to look at Mia with a deep concern for her well-being, fearing the potential repercussions of Dobby's actions.

Dobby: [still banging his head on the drawer] Bad Dobby!
Mia: Dobby, stop! Please be quiet. Are you all right?
Dobby: Dobby had to punish himself. [pushes a stool closer to Mia] Dobby almost spoke ill of his family.

"What family?" Fred asked, his curiosity piqued as he sought clarity from Mia.

"The worst," Mia said in a small tone, causing him to look at her. Mia's expression was one of unease as she pointed to the Malfoy family in her head, the weight of her words apparent in her eyes

"Oh," Fred whispered in shock, his eyes widening as he processed.

Mia: Your family?
Dobby: The wizard family Dobby serves. [gets up and sits on the stool] Dobby is bound to serve one family forever. If they knew Dobby was here... [shivers] But Dobby had to come. Dobby has to protect Mia Potter. To warn her. Mia Potter must not go back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year.

"How does he know?" Ginny asked, her confusion evident as she tried to make sense of the situation.

"Is he the one putting you in danger?" Amelia asked, her brow furrowed with concern.

"No!" Mia said quickly, shaking her head. "Why would he warn me about the danger he might cause?"

Amanda nodded, understanding dawning in her eyes as she grasped Mia's point.

"Maybe..." Oliver began, capturing the attention of everyone present. "Maybe the family he serves might want to hurt her."

"That is what I was thinking," Theodore added, his expression reflecting realization.

Draco nudged him and shot him a glare, indicating a disapproval of his contribution. However, Mia noticed the shift in the Malfoy family, especially Lucius, and couldn't help but smirk at the realization that her suspicions might be justified.

[Mia looks at him in surprise] There is a plot, a plot to make most terrible things happen.
Mia: What terrible things? Who's plotting them?
Dobby: [trying to resist himself from saying something] Oh, he! Can't say!
Mia: Okay, I understand. You can't say.
Dobby: Don't make me talk. L-- [He gets on the desk, grabs the lamp and hits himself with it.] Bad Dobby!

"Dobby, stop!" Neville begged. He didn't want Mia to be in trouble, and his plea carried a mix of fear and concern for his friend.

Mia: Dobby? Dobby, put the lamp down. [Dobby keeps hitting himself, in the living room, Vernon is still doing his conversation with the Masons.]
Vernon: So, when they arrive at the ninth hole-- [Dobby's shout is heard, Vernon hears it upstairs while looking suspicious.]

"Oh, no," Molly said softly, her voice filled with fear for Mia. The words conveyed both concern and apprehension as Molly grappled with the distressing situation.

Mia: [trying to grab the lamp from Dobby] Give me the lamp! [Dobby keeps straining until Mia hears Vernon coming upstairs] Dobby, stop!

"Give Mia the lamp," Remus urged at the screen, his tone reflecting urgency.

[She finally grabs it from Dobby, grabs his rags, hides him in the closet, and closes the door] Get in there and keep quiet!
Vernon: [opening the door, stomping into the room, and glaring at Mia] What the devil are you doing up here?!

"You better leave her alone, you BASTARD!" Sirius growled lowly at the screen, his protective instinct evident in his fierce tone as he stood up for Mia in a moment of danger.

Mia: I was just... [Dobby slowly opens the closet door; Mia pushes it closed]
Vernon: You've just ruined the punchline of my Japanese golfer joke.

Many in the room rolled their eyes, displaying a mix of annoyance and disbelief.

Mia: Sorry. [closes the closet door again]
Vernon: [glances at the closet door, unaware of Dobby's presence, then lifts his finger as he turns his eyes back to Mia] One more sound, and you'll wish you'd never been born, girl.

"Remind me, Remus, that once the movie ends, I'll end his bloodline," Sirius declared with steely determination, his words reflecting a deep sense of protectiveness towards Mia. His eyes bore a fierce glint, revealing the intensity of his emotions.

Remus nodded in solemn agreement, his expression mirroring Sirius's seriousness. The gravity of the situation was apparent in the set of his jaw and the unwavering gaze he directed at the screen, displaying an unwavering loyalty to his friend.

Amidst their intense exchange, Mia looked at them with a mixture of perplexity and concern, her expression a blend of disbelief and wariness. She shook her head incredulously, attempting to temper Sirius and Remus's extreme reaction with a subtle gesture of disapproval. Her gaze conveyed a mix of caution and understanding, acknowledging their fervent desire to protect her while also urging them to exercise restraint.

[He sees the closet door opening again] And fix that door.
Mia: [closing the door again] Yes, sir. [Vernon glares at Mia as he walks out of the room, pulling the door closed; with Vernon gone, Mia opens the closet door to let Dobby out] See why I've got to go back? [Dobby removes a sock from his ear] I don't belong here; I belong in your world, at Hogwarts. [Dobby sniffs the sock and throws it aside and turns to Mia] It's the only place I've got friends.
Dobby: Friends who don't even write to Mia Potter?

"That's suspicious," Colin remarked, his tone laced with curiosity and a hint of skepticism, as he voiced his unease about the unfolding situation.

"How did he know that?" Blaise inquired, his furrowed brow indicating his confusion as he sought to unravel the truth.

"You'll see in a few seconds," Mia replied cryptically.

Mia: Well, I expect they've been--hang on, how do you know my friends haven't been writing me?
Dobby: Mia Potter mustn't be angry with Dobby. Dobby hoped if Mia Potter thought her friends had forgotten him, Mia Potter might not want to go back to school.

"He did what?" Sirius exploded, his voice echoing with disbelief and anger as he reacted to the shocking revelation.

"Why would he do that?" Remus pondered aloud, his voice tinged with a mixture of confusion and concern, as he grappled with the implications of what is happening.

"It must be a big thing, if he had hoped for that to happen," Dean observed, his tone reflective and astute, as he contemplated the significance of the unforeseen development.

Mia: Give me those. Now.

"Yes, give her those!" Ron yelled eagerly.

Dobby: No! [Mia attempts to grab Dobby; he dodges, runs for the door, opens it, and races out of the room with Mia chasing after him; Dobby stops at the kitchen doorway, looking at Petunia's cake. In the background, Vernon is talking to the Masons. Dobby glances back at Mia with what looks like a devilish smile.]

"Are you kidding me?" Cho asked, her voice tinged with exhaustion and disbelief as she reacted to a surprising or frustrating situation.

"Oh, no," Arthur muttered, having somewhat figured out Dobby's plan and the potential consequences.

"Please, put the cake back down," Remus begged, his tone pleading as he sought to diffuse the escalating tension.

"So you didn't cast that charm at all?" Amelia inquired, seeking clarification as she attempted to untangle the misunderstanding.

"No, but it wouldn't be the last time I got blamed for something I didn't do," Mia asserted sternly, her words carrying a hint of bitterness as she confronted the injustice she had endured. Her firm response left the individuals who had unfairly blamed and turned on her feeling even more remorseful than before.

Mia: Dobby, get back here! [still smiling in a kind-of-devilish way, Dobby shakes his head "no" and snaps his fingers, causing the cake to levitate] Dobby... Please... No.

"Please, don't do it, Dobby," Hermione implored, her plea filled with concern and apprehension as she addressed the screen, her heart aching for the unfolding situation.

"Yes. Please, don't," Sirius begged, his tone reflecting both urgency and distress, unable to bear witness to the potential consequences of Dobby's actions. "I can't watch this,"

Dobby: Mia Potter must say she's not going back to school.
Mia: I can't. Hogwarts is my home.
Dobby: Then Dobby must do it. For Mia Potter's own good. [With a smug look on his face, he snaps his fingers again, causing the cake to float out of the kitchen; Mia pushes Dobby aside as she steps into the living room to see the cake moving towards the Dursleys and the Masons]

"Oh, no," many exclaimed in shock, their collective reaction capturing the sudden realization of a grave and the circumstances she might face.

Vernon: One plumber says "Look at all that water.", and the second plumber says "Yes, and that's just the top of it." [Mia holds up her hands in an attempt to grab the cake; Vernon, Petunia, and Dudley all look in surprise to see the floating cake with Mia attempting to catch it as floats directly above
Mrs. Mason; watching from around the corner, unseen, Dobby snaps his fingers again, causing the cake to fall and splatter all over Mrs.
Mason]

The room was filled with a palpable sense of unease as many experienced that sinking 'Oh, shit' feeling in the pit of their stomachs, signaling the gravity of the situation dawning upon them.

I'm sorry. It's my niece. Very disturbed. [Mia turns around to face Dobby, who backs away] Meeting strangers upsets her, that's why I kept her upstairs. [Mia glares at Dobby with an angry look on her face that says "Thanks a lot, Dobby. I'm going to be in huge trouble now, because of you."; Dobby snaps his fingers and vanishes into thin air]

"Where did he go?"

[Petunia and Dudley watch as Vernon drills bars into Mia's bedroom window.]
Vernon: [after tightening the bars, he glares at Mia, who glares back at him through the window]

Molly was mortified.

She thought her sons had been joking about the bars.

"They really put bars in front of your window?" Amelia asked carefully, noting details of Mia's home and upbringing, making preparations for a trial to remove Mia from that environment permanently.

"Yes."

"THEY PUT BARS IN FRONT OF YOUR WINDOW?!?" Remus and Sirius erupted in disbelief and outrage.

Remus started to growl, his anger palpable, and Mia, sensing the escalating tension, moved to him, attempting to soothe his agitation. The room fell into a tense silence, uncertain of what to do next and fearful of the imminent repercussions.

Vernon: You're never going back to that school. You're never going to see those freaky friends of yours again. Never!

Hermione gasped in shock at the derogatory remark.

"Who's he calling 'freaky'?" Ron bellowed at the screen, his voice laced with indignation and fury.

[Later that evening, as Mia is asleep in bed, she hears what sounds like a car engine outside. Waking up and putting on her glasses, she gets out of bed and walks to the window. Looking out the window, she sees a strange object moving through the sky.]

"Hey, what's happening?" Dean asked, clearly bewildered.

Seamus joined in, adding, "Yeah, what's that?"

[As she looks, the object appears to be a shooting star, before turning into two beams of light. A turquoise Ford Anglia car flies to Mia's bedroom window, then turns to the right as Mia and Hedwig silently watch. In the Ford Anglia is Ron, accompanied by his older twins, Fred and George.]

"I struggle enough seeing without my glasses; I don't need to be completely blind, guys," Mia quipped with a hint of exasperation.

In response, George, Fred, and Ron blushed at the gentle tease but couldn't help exchanging warm smiles with Mia. The lighthearted comment sparked laughter from the others, filling the room.

Ron: [looking at Mia through the bars on her window] Hiya, Mia.
Mia: [surprised to see her friends] Ron, Fred, George, what are you all doing here?
Ron: Rescuing you, of course. Now, come on. Get your trunk!

"YES!" Sirius's voice boomed with an exhilarated shout that pierced through the room.

Amidst the uproar, voices from all corners exclaimed with joy and excitement, expressing their elation at the prospect of Mia's long-awaited rescue from the Dursleys. Cheers mingled in the air, creating an atmosphere brimming with relief.

[Eventually, Mia has gotten dressed, packed her Hogwarts trunk with some clothes, her books, pajamas, uniforms, and all other necessities, shuts it closed, and locks it.]
Ron: [putting a hook at the bars on Mia's window] You'd better stand back. [Mia steps back as Ron turns to the twin in the drivers' seat] Let's go! [The car pulls the bars on Mia's window off. SMASH! Petunia and Vernon wake up.]

A ripple of laughter filled the room as people couldn't help but find humor in the situation. Despite Vernon's misguided attempts to prevent Mia from leaving, his efforts were clearly in vain, adding an amusing touch to the unfolding events.

Petunia: Oh!
Vernon: Now, what the hell's he doing? [Mia picks up her trunk and makes for the window, where the car's trunk is open for it.]

"The monster is awake," Seamus chided, casting a cautious glance around the room, the humor in his voice only half concealing a genuine concern.

Neville's eyes widened with fear as he urgently implored Mia, "Oh, Mia, run!" The urgency in his voice revealed his genuine fear for his friend's safety,

Vernon: Potter!

"Hurry!" Oliver's voice rang out with urgency, his anxiety palpable as he watched Fred, George, and Ron move swiftly to get Mia out of harm's way before her uncle could reach her. The tension in the room heightened as they worked quickly to ensure Mia's safety.

Dudley: [Also awake and on the landing] Dad! What's going on!?
[Mia puts her trunk in the car.]
George: Go, go, go, go!
Dudley: Dad, hurry up! [Camera shows Vernon unlocking the locks on the door on Mia's bedroom.]

Mia stole a furtive glance at her godfathers, and immediately regretted it. Their expressions were a tumult of unbridled rage—anger and fury simmered beneath the surface. The intensity of their emotions was palpable, and Mia could almost feel the crackle of tension in the air. It was clear that her uncle wouldn't stand a chance if they were to confront him—a fact that filled her with a mix of apprehension and grim satisfaction.

[Mia picks up Hedwig's cage.]
Ron: Come on.
Fred: Come on.
Ron: Come on, Mia! Hurry up! [Vernon unlocks Mia's door and opens it as Harry is about to climb out and into the car.]

A sense of palpable anxiety and fear permeated the room, with some individuals raising their voices in a cacophony of urgent demands.

"HURRY UP!" Neville, Ginny, Hermione, Dean, and Seamus all shouted in unison, their voices blending into a chorus of escalating anxiety. The urgency in their cries conveyed the depth of their concern as they urged action to ensure Mia's safety.

Vernon: Petunia, he's escaping! [He grabs Mia's ankle.]

"Did he actually run?!" Charlie asked, his eyes wide with disbelief, his voice laced with astonishment.

"And that fast?" Ginny added, her incredulity matching Charlie's as they exchanged wide-eyed glances.

Mia, too, stood in stunned silence, her mind reeling from the unexpected turn of events

Mia: Aah!
Dudley: Get her, Dad!
Harry: Aah!
Ron: [Seizes Mia's waist.] I've got you, Mia!
Vernon: Come here!
Mia: [struggles to get out of Vernon's grip.] Let go of me!
Vernon: Oh no, girl! You and that bloody pigeon aren't going anywhere!

"If he despises you that much, why wouldn't he let you go," Hermione asked, her voice filled with disbelief and a tinge of anger. Her brow furrowed as she struggled to comprehend the cruelty of the situation, her eyes reflecting genuine concern for Mia

As Hermione spoke, Amelia furiously transcribed every word onto her notepad, her brow furrowed in determination, her movements purposeful and resolute. The atmosphere in the room crackled with urgency and resolve, as everyone present understood that this was not a suitable environment for Mia. Plans were swiftly put in place to remove her from the situation once the movies had ended, and the determination in their voices left no doubt that they were committed to ensuring Mia's safety and well-being.

Mia: Get off!
Ron: Drive!
Fred: Right.
George: Right!
Vernon: No! No! No! No! Aaaah! [He falls from the window and lands in the garden.]
Dudley: Dad!
Vernon: Oh... Damn. [He stumbles out of the garden.]

The room erupted into laughter at Vernon's misfortune, the jovial atmosphere providing a brief respite from the tension. Amidst the laughter, Mia's expression turned to one of stunned amazement as she watched the scene unfold on the screen.

"I'm amazed the bushes didn't die from his fall," Mia remarked with a hint of sarcasm, eliciting a fresh round of laughter from those around her.

[The car flies away.]
Ron: By the way, Mia, Happy Birthday! [They fly off, away from Little Whinging;]

Mia's eyes shimmered with gratitude as she turned to Ron, Fred, and George, her voice filled with sincere appreciation. "Thank you so much for rescuing me. I don't know what I would have done without you guys. You're amazing."

Ron's face broke into a proud grin, his chest puffing out ever so slightly as he responded, "No worries, Mia. We've got your back."

Fred and George exchanged a knowing look, their mischievous smiles softening into genuine warmth. "Anytime, Mia. You know we can't let anything happen to our favorite troublemaker," George added, a twinkle in his eye.

Mia nodded, a warm smile spreading across her face as she felt the weight of their support. "I'm lucky to have friends like you. Thank you."

Molly and Arthur smiled at them.
