{12} FINALLY HOGWARTS
It is nighttime at Hogsmeade station, the train blows its whistle and pulls into outside the station. Hagrid walks along the side aisle, with a lantern. People, in their robes, begin pouring out of the train. Hagrid: Right, then! First years! This way, please! Come on, now, don't be shy! Come on now, hurry up! [Mia and Ron, now in their robes, walk up to Hagrid.]
Hagrid: Hello, Mia. Mia: Hey, Hagrid. Ron: Whoaa!
Ron's reaction to Hagrid licited laughter from the surrounding people, who recognized and understood his surprise and perhaps even apprehension. They chuckled not only at Ron's response but also because they themselves had experienced a similar reaction when they first encountered Hagrid.
Hagrid: Right then. This way to the boats! Come on, now, follow me. [Later, a large number of boats are plugging across a vast lake, where up ahead there is a huge castle, known as the Hogwarts Castle, can be seen. People are in awe.]
Mia, Sirius, Remus, and the others couldn't help but smile as the scene unveiled the majestic Hogwarts castle. Its grandeur and beauty never failed to evoke a sense of awe and wonder, even for those who had seen it countless times before. The sight of the castle, with its towering spires, intricate architecture, and enchanting ambiance, had a way of capturing hearts and leaving a lasting impression.
Despite their familiarity with Hogwarts, each viewing of the castle seemed to reignite a childlike sense of astonishment within Mia and everyone in the great hall. The awe-inspiring view reminded them of the magical world they were a part of.
"It's beautiful." Remus couldn't help but whisper to himself about the sheer beauty of the Hogwarts castle, unaware that Mia and Sirius, who overheard his words.
Mia turned her gaze towards Remus. "Yes, it never ceases to amaze me."
Ron: Wicked.
"Yes, Ron, Wicked it is." His brother, Charlie agreed with him.
They continue on further towards the castle. Later on, the first-year students walk in the castle, and up the staircase. a higher level, Professor McGonagall is waiting. She taps her fingers on a stone railing, and then goes to the top of the stairs to greet the newcomers.
McGonagall: Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses.
The sorting ceremony never fails to create excitement amongst the students and professors alike. There is an undeniable thrill in witnessing each new student being sorted into their respective house. The genuine reactions displayed by the onlookers often serve as a reminder of the observers' own memories and experiences when they were sorted into their own houses.
"I can't wait to see your sorting." Sirius told Mia.
—They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup.
The golden trio exchanged smiles, their faces lighting up with nostalgia as they reminisced about their eventful first year at Hogwarts
Ron turned to Mia, his eyes crinkling with warmth. "Remember all the points we gained and lost?"
Mia nodded, her smile mirroring Ron's sentiment. "Of course I remember, can't believe it been four years."
Hermione chuckled softly, a hint of disbelief evident in her voice. "Four years... it feels like just yesterday."
[A scared looking boy called Neville Longbottom, spots his toad sitting near McGonagall. He jumps forward.]
Neville: Trevor! [he catches his toad McGonagall stares down at him as some of the students laugh] Sorry. [He backs away, embarrassed.]
Student laughed at him. Neville looked embarrassed but laughed a bit when he realized how funny it is.
"What a clumsy oaf. Longbottom never fails to embarrass himself. It's quite entertaining." Draco smirks condescendingly. Laughing alongside his friends.
"Draco!" Narcissa scolded her son.
Mia's glare intensified, her voice filled with anger. "Oh for God sake, Draco, shut up.."
Neville, though still feeling embarrassed, appreciated Mia's defense. He managed a small smile and nodded in gratitude. "Thank you, Mia."
McGonagall: The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily. [she leaves to go into the Great Hall A young evil looking boy, with short blonde hair, called Draco Malfoy, speaks up.]
Draco: It's true then, what they're saying on the train. Mia has come to Hogwarts.
Ginny Weasley narrowed her eyes "Malfoy loves his rumors, doesn't he?"
Luna nodded her head.
[some of the students are heard whispering, "Mia Potter?" Draco introduces his two friends.] This is Crabbe and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy. [Ron snickers at his name]
Mia glances at Ron and stifles a laugh, she leaned and whispered. "Can't resist making fun of Malfoy's name. I guess it's hard not to find it amusing."
Ron laughed harder snd whisper back. "Draco Malfoy, the self-proclaimed elite, can't help but give us endless material for teasing. Can't blame me for finding it funny!"
Hermione rolls her eyes at them. "It's not nice to mock someone's name, no matter who they are."
Ron and Mia's secretive laughter caused everyone to look at them curiously. Hermione giggled slightly at them.
Think my name's funny, do you? I've no need to ask yours. Red hair, and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley. You'll soon find that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there. [extends his hand to Mia.]
The professors gaped at him. Draco's father, Lucius smirked slightly at his son's hatred towards the poor pure blood family and everyone who is not pure blood. But Snape, Draco's Godfather looked at him with disapproval for his words.
Arthur and Molly looked down ashamed for not having enough money to provide for her children the best they can have.
"Well, at least I've got friends who care about me" Ron crossed his arms defensively
"Some wizarding families are better than others,' oh, spare us the snobbery, Malfoy." George mockingly imitates Malfoy.
Professor McGonagall aware of Draco's hatred to people lower than him glared at him. "Mr. Malfoy, your opinions on blood superiority are not welcome at Hogwarts. Everyone must feel free to make friends based on their character, not their family name."
Mia: [not going to take Draco's arrogance] I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks. [Draco glares. McGonagall returns and taps Draco on the shoulder with a paper. He leaves Mia with one last glare.]
Sirius smirked at looked at Mia in approval. "that was brilliant!"
"Anytime."
McGonagall: We're ready for you now. Follow me. [Professor McGonagall leads everyone through two large doors which go to the Great Hall, where there are four long tables with thousands of students, as well as floating candles. The roof appears to be the sky.]
Hermione: It's not real, the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History.
Professor Dumbledore smiled. "Ah, the bewitched ceiling never fails to create a stunning atmosphere for our students. It's delightful to witness your excitement, Miss Granger."
Severus Rolls his eyes. "Yes, Miss Granger, we are all aware of the bewitched ceiling."
"Thank you Professor Dumbledore."
[McGonagall leads the first years to the front where the Sorting Hat lies on the stool.]
McGonagall: All right, will you wait along here, please? Now, before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words.
Dumbledore: I have a few start-of-term notices I wish to announce. The first years, please note that the Dark Forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, [shows a ragged old man, called Mr. Argus Filch, with his cat with red eyes, called Mrs. Norris.] has asked me to remind you that the third-floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you. [He sits back down]
Remus narrowed his eyes. "What a great speech for first years."
McGonagall: When I call your name, you will come forth. I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses. Hermione Granger.
Hermione: [to herself] Oh, no. Okay, relax. [She goes up]
Ron: Mental, that one, I'm telling you.
"Ronald!" Hermione scoffed.
[Mia nods in agreement. Hermione sits on the stool and McGonagall places the sorting hat on her head]
"And you agreed with him, Mia."
"I'm sorry!"
Sorting Hat: Ah, right then... hmm... right. Okay. Gryffindor! [The students cheer; Hermione jumps off with a smile.] McGonagall: Draco Malfoy. [Draco saunters up proudly. The tattered hat nearly freaks before touching down on Draco's head.] Sorting Hat: Slytherin! [The students cheer, not as loudly]
Ron: There isn't a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin.
"Not every Slytherin is bad!"
Mia turned towards Snape, noticing his scowl in response to the mention of Slytherins. She understood that he had his own history and experiences that shaped his perspective.
"You're right, Snape," Mia acknowledged, speaking calmly. "Not all Slytherins are bad. Each house has its share of individuals with diverse traits, just like any other group of people. It wouldn't be fair to generalize an entire house based on the actions of a few."
Snape's expression remained thoughtful as he absorbed her words. While his scowl didn't completely disappear, there was a hint of acceptance in his gaze.
McGonagall: Susan Bones.
[A small redhead, named Susan Bones, walks up to the Sorting Hat.]
Mia noticed Madam Bones standing near the Professor table, her face glowing with happiness as her niece's sorting approached. It was heartwarming to see the joy in her eyes.
[Mia looks around and notices a black greasy haired, pale man, called Severus Snape, giving her sinister looks. Her scar hurts.]
Mia: Ahh! [puts her hand on her forehead in pain]
Ron: [concerned] Mia, what is it?
Mia: Nothing. Nothing, I'm fine.
Mia eyes went towards her friends and the three shared a look of knowledge and understanding of the reason her scar's hurt
Sorting Hat: Let's see... I know! Hufflepuff!
McGonagall: Ronald Weasley.
[Ron gulps and walks up. He sits down and the hat is put on.] Sorting Hat: Ha! Another Weasley. I know just what to do with you. Gryffindor! [The students cheer as Ron sighs in relief.]
The Weasley family looked at themselves, proudly.
McGonagall: Mia Potter.
Mia's nerves began to flutter as her sorting approached. She knew that the sorting hat had contemplated placing her in Slytherin, but she had chosen to keep that information to herself. The thought of wearing the green and silver colors, surrounded by a reputation that didn't align with her values, made her anxious. As her eyes went to her left, she couldn't help but notice the excitement radiating from Sirius and Remus. Their enthusiasm was infectious, but it also added a layer of nerves to her already anxious state.
Her friends, sensing her unease, asked her; "Everything's okay, Mia?"
Mia just gave them a nod.
[Everything goes silent. Mia walks up and sits down on the stool. The Sorting Hat is placed on her head.] Sorting Hat: Hmm... difficult, very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh, yes. And a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?
Mia: [whispering to the hat] Not Slytherin, not Slytherin!
Dean whispering to Seamus. "Did she just say 'not Slytherin'?"
Seamus whispering back. "Don't blame her. Who would want to be Slytherin."
Sorting Hat: Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here, in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness! There's no doubt about that. No? [Mia [still whispering] Please, not Slytherin... anything but Slytherin.
Sorting Hat: Well, if you're sure. Better be... GRYFFINDOR! [There is an immense cheering and Mia gets sent to the Gryffindor table.]
As the Gryffindor table erupts with cheers and applause as Mia looked around her with a smile widen upon her now tomato-alike face. She noticed Remus and Sirius looking at her confused and slightly shocked.
"You almost got sorted into Slytherin?"
"I...," Mia began. "Yes?"
Fred and George: We got Potter! We got Potter! [Mia sits down at the table. She looks at Dumbledore, who lifts up his goblet and slightly waves it, as if he was wishing congratulations.]
As Mia's attention shifted from Dumbledore after giving him a smile to her favorite twins, she couldn't help but smile wider. With her eyes fixed on George and Fred, she leaned forward, enveloping them both in a warm embrace. She then proceeded to place gentle kisses on each of their cheeks, expressing her gratitude.
"Thank you guys, I appreciate that moment very much."
George responded with a genuine smile, while Fred playfully winked at her. "No need to thank us, Mia. We're always here for you."
