Let Me Speak

"There's a lot of repetition in this-"

"Y/n we don't live in a book," Tom grumbled, tiredly kissing her forehead. "I don't know why you keep bringing it up, there's no possibility we're in one."

"That's what a book character-"

"Hypothetically, if we were in a book," Tom said. "You would be breaking the fourth wall right now and I don't know how much the readers would enjoy that."

"They would get used to it," Y/n frowned. "I mean, there's Deadpool, people love him."

"Love, just get up," Tom said. "Wouldn't they be getting tired of these conversations as well?"

Y/n gave an awkward smile and got up, not replying to Tom's comment.

Once the two of them got ready, Y/n started laughing.

"You're bringing your mini backpack again?" she asked, wiping the tears away from her eyes, "I haven't seen that for three years."

Tom frowned and turned away. "I'm leaving, so if you want to join me, do so now."

Y/n stood up straight, quickly walking over to Tom who was walking out of the room already.

They walked out into the nice cool morning, Y/n was glad it wasn't very hot yet. The two of them went to get breakfast, going to another bakery, then they started walking to the Metro.

They took the Metro to Sento Station, then walked to Piazza Navona.

"Fancy," Y/n said, wiggling her eyebrows.

Tom had a small smile on his face, as he led her over to Fontana Dei Quattro Fiumi, or, Four Rivers Fountain.

Y/n gazed around when her gaze landed on someone who looked like Dylan, but the person was gone in only a matter or second.

"Huh, I thought I saw someone that looked like Dylan," she told Tom.

Tom tensed a little bit but covered it with a laugh.

"That's strange," he said. "Maybe you haven't gotten enough sleep, you could be seeing things."

"Maybe," Y/n said, with a small shrug.

They walked around looking at the fountains.

"I heard they had good Tartufo here," Y/n said, gazing at one of the shops.

"A what?" Tom asked.

"A Tartufo, it's a fancy chocolate ice cream roll," Y/n explained, her thoughts now only thinking about eating one. "I've always wanted one, and Piazza Navona is the place to get one."

"You didn't know we were at the Louvre," Tom said, raising an eyebrow. "But you know about some chocolate ice cream roll?"

"Uh, yes," Y/n said. "What? Food is always on my mind, I do a lot of looking. I can't tell you where something is, but I can tell you what to eat there- well, most of the time."

"Let's go get one then," Tom said. "If that's the one thing you know about Piazza Navona."

Y/n beamed as she led the way to a restaurant to get one.

It was a bit pricey, but Y/n took care of it, ignoring all of Tom's protests.

Y/n's eyes were big when they brought out the dessert.

"I'm apologizing in advance if I eat it all," she said, staring at the Tartufo. "It just looks so good."

Tom smiled, handing Y/n a spoon.

"It's fine, Y/n," he said. "Have as much as you'd like."

"You should have the first bite," Y/n said, not taking her eyes off of the dessert. "I want to make sure you get at least a bite."

Tom raised an eyebrow, watching Y/n as he took a bite of the Tarfufo, her eyes watched him closely as he ate it.

Once he had some, she immediately ate some.

"This is amazing," she said, taking another bite. "They weren't lying when they said this is the place to get some."

"It is good," Tom agreed.

"See, you're in charge of all of the places we go to," Y/n said. "While I'm in charge of food."

"Yes you are," Tom grinned.

After they finished their Tartufo, they set off again, to The Pantheon.

"Did you know," Tom said, as they were walking. "'Pantheon' means 'to honor all gods', it's a Greek word."

"That's pretty cool," Y/n said.

She looked around again, seeing the same person who looked like Dylan.

"Now, this is going to be very strange," Y/n said. "But think I saw Dylan again."

Tom tensed again, however, he was glad he wasn't holding Y/n's hadn't the moment.

"That's strange," he said, cursing Dylan inside of his head.

He had seen Dylan and Ivy a countless number of times that day, even though they said they would stay out of the way.

"I don't know why you would be seeing him."

"Why are we still over here?" Ivy hissed to Dylan, as they had just seen Tom and Y/n. "Our parents specifically said don't let Tom and Y/n see us, we can't be ruining their perfect vacation."

"Oh come on, it's not a big deal," Dylan hissed back, as they made a shortcut through an alley. "It's not like Tom is going to propose, we're just here because my mom found a good deal, and thought it would be fun if your family- not including Haz and Kylee- to come with us."

"I'm not the one who made the rules, Dyke," Ivy said, rolling her eyes. "I just don't want to get in trouble."

"You were going to get in trouble anyway, Ivory," Dylan whispered. "You're with me, I always get in trouble."

"Not all the time," Ivy pointed out, as they appeared back at Piazza Navona. "Plus what if he does propose?"

Dylan rolled his eyes, as he saw their parents. The two of them quickly and quietly snuck back over to them. Then acting as though they had been there the whole time.

"Kylee and Harrison aren't even here," Dylan said. "Why would Tom propose and not invite the two of them. The two of them are too busy being in London anyway."

Ivy sighed, ignoring Dylan.

"Where were you two?" Dylan's mom asked.

"Dylan decided we should go and find Y/n and Tom," Ivy said, folding her arms. "She saw Dylan, and Tom glared at both of us."

Dylan glared at Ivy, she wasn't supposed to rat them out.

"Dylan!" his mom exclaimed. "You're not supposed to get in their way. We're here to be on our own vacation, not barge into Tom and Y/n's vacation."

"Okay, I won't try and interrupt their cheesy vacation anymore," Dylan said, folding his arms. "Why did we even come on vacation, at the same time as Y/n and Tom, but we're not allowed to be seen?"

"I already told you, Dylan," his mom said. "There was a good deal, so I bought tickets, it just so happened that it was the same time that Tom and Y/n were here. I didn't tell you where we were going, so you wouldn't tell Y/n, I didn't want to ruin her time with Tom."

Dylan frowned, refraining from rolling eyes since if he did, there was a very good chance he would get in trouble.

He did not want to get in trouble. Especially in a different country, where people knew who his sister was.

That's when Dylan's phone went off.

"Now look what's happened," Ivy said, snatching his phone from his hands. "It's Tom."

"Hello?" Ivy said, putting the call on speaker.

"What were you two thinking?" Tom asked.

"Where's Y/n?" Dylan asked. "I don't think she's going to want to hear this conversation."

"She's in the bathroom-"

"How far away from the bathroom are you?" Dylan interrupted. "Last time you stood too close to the bathroom, Zendaya confessed her love for you. Y/n was a bit off after that."

"No, I'm not close to the bathroom-" Tom said.

"What do you want?" Ivy asked, politely.

"Why were you over where we were, Y/n saw Dylan twice," Tom said. "Two times, you two are supposed to stay out of the way-"

"I'm sorry," Dylan said, rolling his eyes. Not that Tom would know.

"Just stay out of the way," Tom whispered. "Haz, don't worry Kylee loves you."

Dylan and Ivy exchanged looks.

"Er- okay then," Ivy said.

"Remember what we talked about and you'll be fine," Tom said. "Bye Haz."

"Who was that?" Y/n asked as Tom pocketed his phone.

"It was Haz, he was panicking about whether or not he's doing everything right for him and Kylee's wedding," Tom improvised.

Y/n raised an eyebrow but nodded.

"So, where are we going next?" she asked.

"We're going to the Pantheon," Tom said, putting his hand out for her.

Y/n nodded, and they set off.

They walked for about five minutes until they were faced with the Pantheon.

Y/n marveled at the stonework.

"This front part of the portico is what remains of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa's original temple," Y/n blurted out, not sure what she just said, or if it was right.

"That's right," Tom said, a smile on his lips. "I didn't know you knew that."

Y/n slowly nodded.

"Yeah, I know a lot of facts about Rome," she lied.

She didn't even know where she heard that fact from, so now she had to fake knowing things about Rome.

"Really," Tom said, raising an eyebrow. "What does SPQR mean?"

Y/n, of course, knew that one, she would be a fake Percy Jackson fan if she didn't know what it meant

"It's Senātus Populusque Rōmānus," Y/n said. "Or, The Roman Senate and People, or, The Senate and People of Rome."

Tom slowly nodded, he wasn't sure if she was going to get that right. He thought that little fact she blurted out was something that she read once, he didn't know she actually knew a lot of facts about Rome.

Y/n knew nothing.

She just had to fake it till she made it. Right now, he was going easy on her.

"What about-"

"Why don't we go in?" Y/n asked. "We have a lot to see today, right? It's already two in the afternoon as well, we better go in."

Tom chuckled softly, as Y/n pushed him to the Pantheon.
