Sidewalk Joy
It's been so dry
Fall colors drab
Yellows and browns
On sidewalk slab
Leaves still rustle
On morning stroll
A memory
Childhood's porthole
Walk home from school
On leaf strewn street
Satisfaction
Of shuffling feet
Scatter leaf piles
From under trees
Orange and red
A sight to see
Return from time
Of simple joy
Where tree's castoffs
Become a toy
I smile, reflect
And hope that rain
Adds bright color
To fall's domain
