Small snow imps snuck in overnight

Turning my world a wintry white

Feel my eyes pop with breath's slow sigh

Snowflakes are stacked eight inches high

Those tall white stacks upon deck's rail

Won't last long when bird feathers sail

My porch posts' base is quite a sight

Snow curls in a frosty delight

Blue jays swoop in for peanut deal

Eager for an unfrozen meal

Some try to land on tall snow stacks

Sink in shock as long wing tips smack

Forecast states more snow on the way

I must lean into winter's sway

Must change plans and shovel today

Takes three hours to clear my driveway

Hot soup drives off my inner chill

Cardinal chirps near my windowsill

Watch clumps of snow fall from bare trees

Warm quilt snuggles from chin to knees

Pristine visions a novel fare

Frosty white blankets everywhere

Snowflakes stacked among evergreens

Savor my gardens' winter scenes
