Shadows glide above wet grass

Head tilts towards sunny sky

Sunbeams blind my upward gaze

No way to identify

Brief mysteries on my walk

Add sparks to daily routine

What's that buzzing noise I hear?

Bee nest in an evergreen

Nearby a woodpecker drums

Can I figure out which tree?

Searching for a spot of red

Twisting in bark jamboree

On gray sidewalk something crawls

I stop for a closer look

Caterpillar, green and fat

Searching for a safer nook

Overhead a loud "kee-kee"

Red-tailed hawk is soaring high

Laugh as I watch smaller birds

Dive bomb hawk as she flies by

Something wet drops on my arm

Did a bird just poop on me?

Nope, it's just a drop of rain

Head home with a fast step flee

As loud storm rolls overhead

Reflect on my daily walk

Mysteries add harmony

To a stroll around my block
