SEEK AND DESTROY —— CHAPTER TWO
Tomorrow 2.

  "Lani, Lani, Lani, that bitch is here, look!" Kika exclaimed while hitting Leilani's arm repeatedly and pointing at the stands where no other than Pablo Gavi sits. "That fucker, if nobody punches him, I will. Or maybe Nico will beat me to it."

Lani groaned looking up at the stands and dropping the ball from her hands. "Fuck! Seriously? That's the last thing I needed today."

Truly, Lani was sick of those two. Anastasia and Gavi equally peeved her, but more so the girl who had been bugging her all day long. Though at the very least, her friends where also in the stands which was enough to soothe the distasteful ache in her chest. Despite everything she finds herself wondering if he still feels something for her like she does for him.

Anastasia kept throwing snide comments her way all week at training. And purposefully icing her out. If Kika wasn't there for her, she might've ripped Ana's hair clean off.

Kika wrapped her arms around Lani's middle while she laid her head on her shoulder, "Come on, it's game time. Gotta show your brother that you're the better baller. "

Lani glanced over her shoulder at her best friend, "Please, we all know I'm miles clear of him."

Leilani grabbed Kika's hand and lead them toward the locker room. The arena was jam packed of fans, seeing as they were playing the championship quarterfinals. People were more focused on the football stars sitting court side. From Lamine to Nico, To Alejandro and Pau Cubarsi, people were all over them.

"Not gonna lie guys, I'm gonna explode if people ask me for anymore selfies." Lamine stated glancing around uncomfortably. "Fuck it, I'm gonna start charging people €20 per picture."

People tend to forget that the boy is merely 16. This kind of fame is not something he's used to yet. Having cameras shoved in his face is not ideal, to be quite honest. Gavi always told him he'd get used to it eventually, but it didn't make it less uncomfortable.

Pau scoffed at his friend, "That's rookie shit, you gotta go €50 or nothing. It's like you don't listen to my teachings."

"Pau what the fuck, have you charged people for a selfie before?" Alejandro chimed in staring at the teenager dumbfounded. "Holy shit, you have!"

"Once! And it was some rich guy who said his daughter had a crush on me!" Pau defended holding his arms up, "If they're gonna objectify me I'm gonna need a few bucks out of it at the very least." The rest of the crew stared at him in shock and confusion.

Before anyone else reprimanded him, the lights dimmed and loud music began to ring out in the arena. The boys don't understand why basketball must be so extra with intros, but to each their own. The opposing team trotted out onto the court between dances and smiles. After a while, Lani made her way onto the court and the crowd erupted in applause.

From the end of the row, beside Nico, Gavi looked uncomfortable. Much like how Leilani was the past weekend with Anastasia at her side. After that game Anastasia had prodded him to no end, and it hadn't been their first disagreement in the relationship. The guilt for choosing her over Leilani was growing inside of him day by day like moss growing at a rotting house. He feels the urge beneath his bones to call out how much he can't stand being in a relationship for much longer.

On the court, Lani was focused and poised. Most times she just links up with Kika on plays. Their connection is strong and they work like well oiled machine. The first half had been a breeze with her team leading 50-34. Anastasia was on the ball and she hesitated on passing it, but Maya snatched it and passed it to Kika who handed it over to Lani with 10 seconds left on the clock.

Lani went for the shot and the world slowed down. The ball danced around the rim for what seemed like centuries before going in right at the buzzer. The crowd erupted into cheers.

"Yes! Let's go!" Lani screamed, chest bumping Kika who met her halfway, "Get the fuck in, that's what i'm talking about!"

Anastasia glared daggers into her back. It's like her very gaze painfully penetrated stabs into her. But the only person who noted it was Gavi, as everyone was still all over Lani's buzzer beater.

Pau and Kika stared down at the post on Kika's phone with flabbergasted expressions. As if Anastasia hadn't already given Leilani enough shit, she decided to shade her and rub everything in her face on social media. Granted, Lani's caption was also an indirect shot toward her, but it differentiated in the fact that Lani had the right to be shady.

Kika snatched the phone and shoved it in Nico, Alejandro and Lani's faces, "Look at this BS! Ou bro, the fucking audacity, Gavi needs to control his dog." She scoffed annoyedly while typing another shady comment under the post.

"Is she serious." Ale commented through a mouthful of his milkshake, so it was muffled, "I mean really, fuck's her problem today?"

"Okay first of all, swallow your drink before you talk, nasty ass." Lamine stuffed a bite of his waffle into his mouth. The sugary and syrupy meal getting captured in his braces, but regardless he glanced back at Lani. "It's crazy, he had you and somehow ended up with...well, that." The teen scrunched his face up in disgust.

Kika laughed at his statement, reaching next to her to high-five him.

Lani shrugged, emitting a hum, "I guess. But what's done is done, I can't change his shitty choices, yeah it still hurt me but fuck it, we move."

Nico swallowed his mouthful, and crossed him arms with a sigh. He does this when he's about to say something really wise or really fucking dumb. "Okay—hear me out. I think he's regretting things, I mean at the game he was all sulky and shit and he kept staring at Lani with this like, guilty look. There's definitely some disagreements going on with them that we don't know about and it's probably about how he ended things with Lani." He popped another fry into his mouth. "Not saying that to defend him, but just saying she's definitely moving weird because the relationship doesn't feel secure anymore."

Leilani hadn't really thought of it that way. Not that she really spent her time sticking her nose into their relationship to analyze things like Nico did. But he made a good argument.

Pau chimed in as he glanced at Nico, "Okay, first of all, great point. But why's she taking it out on Lani?"

"Oh Pau, sweet, little, oblivious Pau." Kika patted his shoulder repeatedly with pursed lips. "It's pretty obvious, he likes never stopped liking Lei Lei and she's mad about that."

The silence that fell upon the table was deafening almost. Leilani especially, wasn't really buying the concept that Gavi regretted anything. He had completely blindsided, and it's hard to believe he'd feel regret, and more so this late.

Lani laughed dryly, "Keeks, that's bullshit."

"I don't know Leilani, is it really?" Kika eyed her suspiciously

Lani jumped quickly to defend herself, "Well what if it isn't? I'm not gonna let him off the hook just like that, fuck no." She took a hefty sip of her soda, "Let's say you theory is true, I'm not gonna forgive him because he's not doing anything to stop Ana from being a bitch and he knows that me and her were never on good terms and he still followed her after leading me."

Lamine nodded at her proudly, "True that, but hey let's just finish dinner and forget about those two idiots."

angie's notes. okay hello! short chapter finally updating i'm trying to be more consistent so i hope you guys enjoyed. this one goes out to babygirl nilah who I love so much! Also anastasia is my biggest opp bye i always have an enemy in my books, but i love the crew dynamic between kika lani and the guys. I know the introduction of kika is sudden and random but just roll with it, also lmk what you think of this story so far bc it's all getting messy!
