"It'sa sin th'hat ssomehaow, light is chahnging ta'shadow..." Zars sang, taking a long drink from her wine glass after she finished her favorite phrase of the song she was listening to on the old turntable sitting on her nightstand. The old Pink Floyd album spun and spun around on that turntable, blaring the age-old music of the 80's tirelessly. So tirelessly and loudly, in fact, that the little lady didn't hear the doorbell until On The Turning Awayfaded into Yet Another Movie. Rising in confusion, she hopped to the ground and made her way through her now-dark living room to her door. The buzzing was incessant and unforgiving even as Zars neared the steel door, the ringing becoming more unbearable as her headache grew worse.
"Wh'eye do I have a duh'or'bell?" The little woman slurred quietly to herself as she pulled the door open to a dark, hooded figure with its pale, skeletal finger on the doorbell to ring it yet again. It looked at Zars and Zars looked at it, both of them taking each other in with the shared gaze. It didn't take the vampire long to know who lie beneath the cloak and what quarrel lie between them.
The flash of metal in a blue-tinted, pale hand was the only warning Zars had before she was shot. Seeing the gun in the corner of her eye, she grinned at her daughter even as the gun's barrel exploded with light- a bullet lodging itself in the small woman's stomach. Her small body was flung backwards, knocking the wine glass out of her hand to shatter somewhere on her floor.
"Someone is lying very still..." the turntable still blared, timeless song of Pink Floyd coaxing the victim into a soft void, chords all but lost on her dulling mind.
