3AM Eternal

Annie had never had to fight aliens before. She wasn't sure where to start but when one was stood directly in front of her she supposed fighting them in general was a good idea. She had brought items that would aid her in this battle even if Annie had never gotten happy with the idea of holding a gun. She would do it if she had to. And considering the fact that generally hitting the alien wasn't working it looked like she was going to have to use said gun.

Bang!

It was the first time in nearly a year that Annie had used a gun. The supposed euphoria that so many people talked about getting when they used one was still missing. She could never understand why so many people felt safer with one of these on them. It was rather the opposite in her opinion.

But she didn't have time to ponder gun laws right about now. She was quickly getting surrounded. With every alien she shot down another two replaced them. Using normal mundane weapons was not going to continue working for her. Therefore, clicking the safety back on Annie went to using her other powers. She had to hold off using her optic blasts for as long as possible considering how much they tired her out. But she could make the aliens dance.

"Let's dance." She taunted them not sure if they could understand her or not. But she was sure they got the idea behind her words when they slammed into each other. She was quick to make a small pile of aliens, who's name she hadn't managed to pick up from the others, before dropping a piece of loose roofing on top of them. She wasn't a fan of destroying public spaces but considering the attack had caused this rather large piece of concrete ceiling to fall she supposed she could use it to her advantage.

And so she did creating little piles and dropping the same piece of roofing on top. However, she wasn't aware that she was getting a little audience of aliens gathering the more she concentrate on her piles. She wasn't quick enough to get herself away before they were too close. Annie could hear someone shout her code name before she dropped down into a crouch position.

Thinking it was the end Annie was surprised when she suddenly found herself stood about six foot away a familiar hand on her shoulder. It would appear that she had forgotten that she could link her telekinesis to her mind links, teleporting herself to them if she was in immediate danger. Just she hadn't expected the one it pulled her to, to be Natasha. Considering Annie still had the mink link on mute.

"We thought we'd lost you for a second there." Natasha's voice suddenly broke her from her own thoughts.

"I'm like a cockroach. Very hard to kill." Annie joked it off but considering she hadn't realised just how strong that link was she was still very confused. But they didn't have time.

They were very quickly becoming outnumbered. It would be impossible to stop them all. Sure Thor had turned up about half an hour ago. But they would never be able to take on all the little single aliens, Loki who was parading around somewhere, and the massive worm looking things which were suddenly arriving. They needed more man power she just didn't know where they were going to get it from.

The purr of an old motorbike engine drew Annie's attention from the worm to her left. Riding into the battle field was Doctor Banner. The strange man she had only met the one, barely knew anything about. But apparently he held some sort of super secret. She supposed now was the time she found out what it is.

"Doctor Banner I think it's time you get angry."

"That's the thing, I'm always angry." Annie could have sworn she saw Natasha swoon a little at his words but thought it to be a trick of her eye. What she was certain was happening was Doctor Banner shapeshifting into something she pondered whether it was a mutant. Perhaps he had been a shapeshifter this entire time and she had missed the opportunity to meet and get to know another mutant.

Annie supposed she would have to survive this attack in order to work that out.

This new version of Doctor Banner was much stronger than his counterpart. Considering it punched on of the wormy things into obliteration. This gave them the opportunity for a breather. To regroup and work out what their next plan of attack would be. Annie wasn't sure exactly what she was going to end up doing but she knew that she really could have done with an energy drink before they left. She was tired. But if she gave up right now then she was sure people were going to die unlawfully.

"Alright, listen up. Until we can close the portal up there we need containment. Barton I want you on that roof. Call out patterns and strays. Stark you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out you turn it back or you turn it to ash." Captain America started. Annie turned to look at Clint in that moment who looked more than gleeful to be up at a height that he preferred.

Said man had caught her eyes moving his hand up in a familiar movement signing the phrase 'I love you' at her. She quickly sent it back not knowing how much longer until he got up to the vantage point. Annie turned to send it to Natasha, she was going to stop herself considering the argument they had, but considering the time she thought it would be petty. The benefit was also that Natasha still hadn't bothered to learn ASL and therefore, wouldn't have a clue what she was saying. Sending an 'I love you' sign was quick and never reciprocated but it made Annie feel better considering she wasn't sure what the captain wanted her to do.

"Wanna give me a lift?" Clint asked Stark knowing what the answer would be.

"Right. Better clench up Legolas." And with his words the jets of the Ironman suit were initiated and the pair were in the air.

"Thor you've got to try and bottleneck that portal. You've got the lightening, light the bastards up." Thor only nodded in response swinging the hammer thing he always carried and he had flown off.

"Summers, you're on the lookout for civilians make sure we've got them all to safety. If not get them out." Great Annie was on save the citizen. Sure she knew it was important but she could feel the inferiority, they didn't think she was good enough to fight the actual aliens. But she listened anyways and with a nod of her head was off towards the edge of the perimeter they had set up looking for anyone who was still stuck.

Upon reaching an upside down car, Annie supposed that perhaps this was an important thing to have done. For in the front of the car, she could see a young woman stuck. Annie panicked she had no clue how long this person had been stuck. But she knew she needed to get them out of there.

"Can you hear me?" She shouted at the other woman, hoping and praying that she was going to get a response. What she got wasn't words, but a muffled sound. Oh god she didn't know what to do, how do you get someone out of an upside down vehicle.

Approaching the passenger side of the car, Annie used her fist which probably wasn't her smartest idea to smash the window. Once she could stick her head inside of the car she could at least see the woman much clearer. She didn't look brilliant, which would be an understatement considering she was suspended upside down in her own car. There was a stream of what Annie hoped was dry blood trailing down the woman's head, the airbags had failed to deploy and Annie wasn't sure if there was a head injury or what was going on. All she knew was that if she didn't get this woman out there was still a massive chance the engine could ignite from the fuel and they would both die.

"Hi my name's Hex and I'm going to get you out of here. I'll come round your side and get the door away. Just stay still for now." Annie rushed her way around in order to look at the door. There was no chance that the door would open using normal human strength. She was lucky that she had above average strength.

Concentrating on the door Annie was able to get it off its hinges and able to chuck it behind her somewhere else. The next problem was getting this young woman out of there. Annie wanted to call her something than 'woman' or 'lady'.

"Hey, it's me again, the doors gone hence the breeze. I'm going to get that seatbelt off and then I'll get you out. Do you have a name I can use?" Annie felt as though she was talking at about a thousand miles per hour which didn't help the woman.

"Aly." Was the response she got. Which was awesome, but she had to focus on getting the seatbelt off. The easiest way was to focus on the molecules and manipulate them apart. Considering it was small she had to be certain as to not injure Aly in the process. But soon enough she had succeeded. Telekinesis was cool when used properly. Not when hiding it. And she used this mutation once again to help her move both herself and Aly backwards. Considering Annie wasn't certain there wasn't a head injury she held onto Aly's head as she shifted them both back slowly muttering an apology each time they moved concerned she caused the other woman pain.

Creating a little head and neck support from the particles around them was not the prettiest thing Annie had done but probably one of the most practical. It allowed her to fly both herself and Aly towards the ambulance set up just outside the parameter.

"Her name is Aly, I found her about 20 minutes ago upside down in a car. I have no clue what injuries have occurred don't have X-ray vision. She just needs urgent medical attention." Annie spoke as soon as she saw the paramedic happily laying Aly down on the stretcher they provided.

"Good luck Aly, I hope you get better soon." Annie headed back towards the mess which was the fight. Checking on her way for anyone else they might have missed. But she came up empty. There was no-one else around to her knowledge. Perhaps now she could be of use.
