02. His Secret
"Yes. He passed away years ago. My dear... Jiminie..."
Jungkook looked at his uncle who held his gaze fixed to the frame in his hand. Before he could ask him something, they heard a sound of tires. And hearing it, Jungkook almost ran out of the room to the front door.
"Grandma!!!", Jungkook squealed like a little kid seeing the old woman who climbed down from an old looking nissan truck. She was wearing a knee length green skirt with white blouse. She stopped when she heard Jungkook calling her.
"Omo!! Is that my Jungkookie??", she smiled in glee seeing her grandson after so much time. Jungkook took no time to rush towards her and hug her. He bended down to reach her aged bent form.
She affectionately caressed his face with a smile. "What are you doing here my Jungkookie??", she asked. "Just helping out uncle with all the 'moving out'..", he answered smiling.
"Practically it's not moving out. I'm just shifting to another place because it's comparatively near to our farms. I have aged and I want less travelling. Plus I am moving the useless material so that I can get more space in the house.", Uncle Taehyung complained from behind. They both turned and laughed at him at how he was trying to justify his point.
"Goodness. I have been waiting for you to take that step.", Grandma whined cutely with an exaggerated sigh while she approached her son, while Jungkook carried her bag for her. "But would it be you if you ever listened to me?"
"I do listen to you!!", uncle defended.
"Yeah? Then why are you not married yet?", his grandmother passed back and that pulled out a loud laugh out of Jungkook. "Grandma is right, uncle. Why didn't you get married? You know, my mother always eats ears on the same thing. She thinks that I will end like you just because I don't happen to have a girlfriend currently...", Taehyung looked at him in disbelief. They went in while bickering.
Most of the things from store room were already packed. They were just waiting for the movers to come. While Jungkook was helping his uncle to pack leftover things, Grandma was settled in. She came to look if they were done or not. They were sprawled between many boxes. Then her gaze landed on the door at the farther end of the hallway.
"You didn't empty that room?", she asked addressing Taehyung who was busy taking few boxes. He didn't look up at her. Instead answered her, "No I didn't."
"Why?", her face was now filled with frown. Which was a little unusual for Jungkook. His grandma wasn't the one to get worried over anything that easily. She was as easy going as him.
"I mean... No one uses that room anyways. So what's the use of removing the things in it. We don't have much time for this. It would be a hassle...", he answered. Although it didn't sound sincere.
"Tae... I want you to get over it. It was an accident. Now it's time to get rid of those memories. It won't go away until you wouldn't let go...", she said softly. Her eyes were filled with concern..there was something more which was purposefully left unsaid in Jungkook's presence. So he just looked at both of them sneakily trying not to look intrigued by their conversation, just moving his hands on work he was doing.
Taehyung nodded lightly. To which she sighed and went away with her slow pace. Jungkook saw Taehyung pull out the frame he had kept safely in the 'usable goods' box and place it in the ones which he was going throw out.
"What accident?", Jungkook asked cautiously. The older just gave him a glance before he started talking.
"Um.. There was an accident 23 years ago. There was a fire at that part of our mansion. And Jimin... was here to pick few things up. He was in there. We tried so hard to save him. But...", his voice trembled at the end. Jungkook could tell that he was still living that horrific incident till this day.
"After that we permanently shut the doors of that room...", Taehyung completed. Jungkook saw the photo frame in his hands. His hands were slowly caressing the face in that frame which was not even visible. Probably that photo has taken a lot of caresses since that day.
His eyes lifted up to his uncle's tired face.
"Is that why you never married?"
"What?", Taehyung looked up with wide eyes.
"Because of Jimin?", he asked silently. He had always wondered why even his uncle didn't get married. He earned well. He had good looks, hell even now he looked like he was in his prime. His grandma, mother and other people around them tried to persuade him into a marriage for several years only to be rejected bluntly. He never told anyone the reason nor spoke out the worries if he had any. But now, Jungkook could clearly see it in his eyes. And probably he had caught the reason why his uncle was spending his life alone...
He got his answer when his uncle chose to stay silent, still caressing the old frame. As if the faded photo held everything he wanted.
"You know I am a professional photographer...", Taehyung looked up at the sudden change of subject.
"I can develop that picture like completely new, if you want!!", Jungkook said with a smile. Taehyung's eyes turned to the frame as if he was thinking something and then he spoke up. "No it's okay... I see him everyday..."
"What?", Jungkook's eyes widened.
"In my dreams.", Taehyung completed with a light smile making the younger breath sigh of relief. With that the older placed the frame in 'unusable goods'. "Tape it up...", he simply told his nephew and walked away. He didn't see that Jungkook picked the frame and observed the blurred picture. He slowly traced it with his fingers.
And with something in mind he chose to keep it to himself.
"I will make it as new as yesterday. As if I have clicked it myself. He can't come back but I will give him a new life through this picture... My uncle would be so happy. "

Screams filled the place.
Taehyung stood frozen with horror in front of the door which was surrounded by monstrous ribbons of fire. Suddenly the window adjacent to the door met with an impact of something that was thrown at the glass.
The glass of the window shattered in seconds and what made it shatter was the same frame which Taehyung had gifted Jimin. The frame successfully broke the window and came a pained voice from inside....
"Helppp!!!"
Taehyung's teary eyes shot open when he realised that it was another dream and he was drenched in sweat... like always...

Jungkook's eyes opened. He heard something.
With an instinct of some intruder breaking in he stood up from his bed. He took a torch and slowly walked towards a the hallways.
What shocked him was that the door at it's end was open. And there was light coming out from it. He frowned upon seeing the lights on.
"Grandma or uncle won't open that door. Is it really an intruder?", he clenched his fists, ready to fight any moment. Without making any noise, he started charging towards the room. But he came to a halt seeing a person standing in the window.
That person was standing with his back towards Jungkook. He slightly tilted his head, but still Jungkook was unable to see his face. But he was 100% sure that the person was looking at him through his peripheral vision. Jungkook couldn't understand what to do now. There was something weird. Before he could do something, that person raised his hand which was holding the same frame Jungkook had kept. His eyes widened.
"So you will give me a new life through this?"
