Walking into the doors of his home high school for the first time on the first day of school, Baekhyun didn't really know what to expect. First off, it was high school, and that in itself was terrifying enough. Other than that, he was finally going to see some of his old classmates again. That was also scary.
He made his way up the stairs, getting pushed and jostled around in the process, going slower than the rest of the students, who knew where to go and actually fit in. Baekhyun felt about as comfortable as a fish up a tree.
Just as I thought, the students here are... just the way they've always been... disorganized.
There's yelling and shoving. Screaming and a lot of selfie taking. It looked like a barnyard, and if the brunet was feeling really pessimistic, he might have noted that it smelled like one too. It certainly sounded like one.
Speed-walking past the knot of students, Baekhyun quickly rounded the corner and walked down the hall. Ah, peace and quiet... well, as quiet as it can get with this bunch.
It was a struggle to locate his homeroom teacher, and even more of a task to get to his locker without stepping on someone, or any stray papers laying around. This is going to be a long year. Already, he was missing his old school.
He grabbed his things, a very meager collection of papers, a binder, his bag, and a few pencils, and maneuvered his way into his homeroom, which also happened to be his English classroom. I don't know how I feel about this. At least my locker is close to my classes, and not a five minute walk away.
Last year, the brunet had the computer class teacher for homeroom, and the classroom was practically isolated from all of his other classes, so getting to and from his locker was practically impossible, if he didn't want to be late to every single class. The whole locker-is-nearby situation was the only upside so far.
He glanced at the seating chart, then walked to his seat at the far side of the room. Sitting down, he opted to watch his classmates mingle, making a mental list of what the friendship circles were, and picking out the people to avoid.
He recognized a lot of the people running around. And they didn't really change, as far as the brunet was concerned. Getting bored, he glanced at the name on the schedule next to him.
Xi Luhan.
Say what now? Luhan's here? The brunet heaved a sigh of relief. I know someone! It's only when Baekhyun began to glance at his deskmate's schedule that he remembered to look at his own. Sliding the two papers together, the brunet began to compare their schedules. Hm, we have four of the same classes, all in the afternoon and in succession. The only two we don't have together are in the morning. That's really good, because-
"Ahem." Hearing a intentional cough behind him, the brunet quickly lifted his head.
"Luhan!"
"Oh! Baekhyun! Are you my seatmate?"
"Lucky, I know." Baekhyun laughed and tugged Luhan to sit down in his seat. "And look! Our schedules are similar too!"
"Oh great!"
***
Slowly, Baekhyun found himself becoming closer and closer to Luhan, so close that the doe eyed boy told him one of his biggest secrets: he had a crush on Oh Sehun, one of the more um, disliked boys in their science class. (Baekhyun had talked to Sehun in multiple occasions in the past, at the urging of Luhan. He didn't seem that bad.)
The revelation had shocked the brunet a bit, not because taking a liking to a practical convict was unnatural, but because if Baekhyun had to admit it, he had developed a tiny crush on Luhan. But he was good at pushing his feelings down, he always had to push his feelings away. And that particular feeling had Baekhyun in deja vu for a while too, so he was good at concealing it.
Baekhyun had simply smiled and shrugged it off, placing a hand on Luhan's shoulder, like he always did. Never one to pass the chance up, he began to tease Luhan about his little crush, which resulted in the doe eyed boy shushing the brunet furiously.
"Do you think, a year ago from now, you would have thought we'd end up like this?"
"No. Not at all." Luhan smiled. "But I'm glad we did." They walk in silence for a while, which was unusual for them. Luhan shot Baekhyun a look and and spoke. "I want to take the three of us to go sing karaoke. Me, you, and Sehun."
At the mention of Sehun, Baekhyun's face fell a little, but not enough for Luhan to notice, or to be concerned about. "Great! When?"
"Well, I was thinking the weekend after you get back from that event of yours. Choir competition or something?"
"Showcase," the brunet corrected.
"Fine, showcase. And it's this Friday? So not the next day, but a week later?"
"Yeah, I should be free. If anything changes, I'll keep you informed."
"Of course. And I also have to ask Sehun. I'm sure he's fine though. You're the one with the ridiculous schedules."
"Yeah. Speaking of, don't we have soccer that day?"
"I think it's just a practice. And it's in the afternoon. We can always go during midday."
"Alright. So you'll text me the location or what?"
"It might be easier for me to go over and we can... actually no," Luhan trails off, thinking. "Both of you can come over to my house, and we'll just take the bus together. Of course, this is all speculation. I'll talk with Sehun during science today."
"Okay." Baekhyun watches as Luhan runs off to talk to someone else, a tall guy with blondish hair and a definite jawline.
It never once crossed his mind to analyze where exactly the showcase would be held, and what the location would mean for him.

Oh look, I can crank out 1K words in a day after all. -_-;
So I guess I'm still on time? It's still Friday for me...
You know what? The first line applies to me much more than I would like. :l
