♡ Chapter Six ♡
Natsuki walked to Yuri's home carrying a large bag full of ingredients. It was really heavy for her to carry so she had to take rest breaks and now again until made it to Yuri's house. She was about to ring the doorbell however it suddenly opens.
"Hey-" Yuri greets but Natsuki jumped back in shock.
She takes in a deep breath, "Geeze, you scared me!" she complained as she tries to calm herself down.
"S-sorry, I just s-s-saw you so I-" Yuri responds panicking but Natsuki puts her hands on her shoulder.
"Yuri, it's all good. Anyway, can I come in?" Natsuki asks.
"Sure," Yuri answers while blushing. She steps aside to let Natsuki in. Without asking Yuri takes Natsuki bags from her and carried them to her kitchen.
Natsuki growls, "Hey, I didn't your help!" she complains as she follows Yuri to her kitchen. She noted unlike her home it was really modern and it all was electric.
Yuri chuckles sightly as she pats Natsuki head, "Well, I wanted to help nevertheless," she says knowing that Natsuki was tired from carrying all of the ingredients.
She pouted as she folds her arms. "Yeah, whatever...." she mumbles as Yuri started taking the ingredients out of the bag and placed them on the table.
"How are you, anyway?" Yuri asks turning to her noticing her eye has healed a bit.
She rubbed her eye slightly as she turns away. "Fine, you?" she asks looking up at Yuri.
"I'm well," Yuri answers before turning around and going over to the kettle. Two teacups were already placed down. She turned on the kettle as she waited for it to boil. Yuri poured the boiling water in the cups as Natsuki stands their awkwardly. Yuri stirred the tea before giving it to Natsuki. "Here, it will boost our energy before we start," she says as Natsuki takes it.
"T-Thanks," Natsuki says blushing slightly as she takes a sip from it.
Yuri takes a big sip from it before setting it down on the table. "So what kind of cupcakes are we making?" she asks.
Natsuki points at the vanilla extract. "Vallina cupcakes with buttery icing. It's simple so you can't mess it up," she says as she sets down her tea. "Natsuki... that was rude..." she thought as she mentally scolds herself.
Because of that, Yuri chuckled nervously as she felt a bit hurt by that. "Um, I cook all the time so I w-won't mess it up," she replies to trying to ensure Natsuki.
"Oh really? What do you make?" Natsuki asks interested.
Yuri smiles, "Oh last night, I made myself a wonderful steak with fresh vegetables," she says. That made Natsuki slightly hungry.
"Ha, don't tell Monika that," Natsuki jokes knowing that Monika is a vegetarian.
Yuri giggles, "I don't plan too," she responds.
"It's annoying because I can't use gelatine food colouring which is much brighter," Natsuki says pouting as she folds her arms.
Yuri tilts her head in confusion, "Gelatine?" she asks.
"Yeah, it's skin, cartilage, and bones from animals. It's in most jelly sweets," Natsuki says and that makes Yuri cringe.
"Now I see why Monika is a vegetarian... that sounds disgusting," Yuri says now getting put off from sweets.
Natsuki giggles, "Don't worry, not all sweets have it. Just most," she says noticing Yuri's expression on her face.
"I am not really a sweet person so don't tell Sayori," Yuri says knowing how Sayori will react to it.
Natsuki shakes her head, "Knowing her after a day she will start eating them again. Anyway, let's get to cooking," she says excitedly.
"Should I pre-heat the oven?" she asks walking over to it.
Natsuki turns to her, "Is it electric?" she asks.
"Yeah," she answers.
"160," Natsuki says before opening the self-raising flour. She looks around Yuri's kitchen. "Hey were are your bowls?" she asks.
After Yuri finished setting up her oven, she bent down and went into one of the draws. She pulled out 3 different size large bowls with a weighing scale. She placed them in front of Natsuki. "Are these alright?" she asks.
She smiles as she replies with, "Perfect, do you have a whisk?" she asks.
"Electic or non-electric?" Yuri asks because she had both.
Natsuki rolls her eyes, "Non-electric of course! You have to be connected with your baking!" she tells her which made Yuri really confused. Nevertheless, she did not question it and got the whisk for Natsuki. "Thank you!" Natsuki placed the bowl on the weight scale and click the zero button.
"D-do you have a recipe?" Yuri asks not seeing any book around.
Natsuki chuckles, "I have this memorized!" she states as she poured in the flour. "I need 120 grams of this..." she says carefully pouring it however she poured a little too much clouded the air leaving little particulates in Yuri's hair. Yuri put her face into her elbow as she sneezes.
"Natsuki... be careful," Yuri says before dusting herself down.
Suddenly Natsuki laughs at Yuri, "Look, it a flour crown!" she says pointing at her hair with all of the flour in. Yuri chuckles as she began shaking her head. "It's only a bit of flour. Any time for the butter," she says bringing out the butter stick. "Hey, Yuri can you cut this into chunks? I need 120 grams."
Yuri nods her head before going over to her drawer and pulling out a holo cooking knife. She gets her chopping board and cuts the butter into chunks.
"That's a pretty knife," Natsuki says glaring at it.
"T-thanks I ordered it online..." Yuri says going red slightly before putting the pieces of butter in a piece by piece until it got to 240 grams on the scale.
Natsuki goes into a small carton of eggs and cracks a single one in there. She added some vanilla extract in and some baking powder. Natsuki started to whisk but it was a little too hard. Yuri chuckles as she took the bowl away from Natsuki and started to whisk it for her. Natsuki pouted before placing the icing sugar along with some food colouring.
"If you were going to get tired we could have used the electric whisk," Yuri says as she stirred the mixture unsure when to stop.
"Ugh, I d-don't like the noise," Natsuki utters remembering where her electric whisker ended up for making too much noise.
Yuri smiles, "That's okay, it does get noisy," she says not really understanding but decided not to question it.
Natsuki noticed Yuri's sleeve was getting dirty. She was going to say to pull it up but then she remembered. "You know it is nice to cook away from home," Natsuki says trying to change her mind off it.
"Oh, why is that?" Yuri questions.
"My papa doesn't like the baking that's why I am not allowed to use an electric whisk," Natsuki says laughing slightly as she looked down.
Yuri put down the mixture, "You have problems at home?" she asks looking down at Natsuki's legs which were bruised.
"...N-no..." Natsuki says which left Yuri unconvinced.
Yuri sighs, "Poor girl, I thought something was up..." she thought as she felt her heartburn. Yuri was angry but held it in. "Um... Ok, I trust you. However, if you get out of your home... mine is open..." she offered.
Natsuki exhales, "No thanks... but thank you," she says smiling slightly. "...but I-I might stop by..."
Yuri was happy with the result she got as long Natsuki could get somewhere to make her feel better. She decided to change the subject, "Anyway, how is this mixture?" she asks putting it down. Natsuki looks at it and gives it a little stir.
"Perfect," she says. "Can you line the cupcake packet?" she asks. Yuri gets out a muffin pan and placed it down before she started to line the pink cupcake packets. Natsuki started to pour the mixture it but it was slowly falling. "Come on!" Natsuki shouts at it.
Yuri chuckles before getting a spoon to help her out. "Here," she says as the mixture in the packet.
"Thanks," Natsuki says as they worked together to fill all of the cupcakes packets. "Done, put it in the oven!"
Yuri put on her oven mitts as she put the muffin tin in the oven. She closed it and let a sigh. "When will they be ready?" she asks. "This was kind of nice..." she wondered.
"I think it might be time to bring it up..." Natsuki thought as she put her hands down to her sides. "Hey, Yuri can we talk about something?" she asks looking down.
