Land

The first to awaken were mello and sunset. Mello was surprised to find they were alive, and looked around as if he didn't believe he were. "is everyone here?" Sunset called, helping van free his tail from a fallen crate. The other looked up wearily and groggy, "Everyone's 'ere captain" Albin replied softly, slithering up onto her shoulders. Sunset gave a relieved sigh, climbing out above deck.

Van stood behind her as they both assessed the damage of the boat. "She won't hold for long captain" Val watched her face for any reaction, sunset just nodded simply "then we'll need to find somewhere to dock for repairs, jack?" She turned to watch the bear climb out from the hatch "aye cap'n?" He said in a thick accent, "can you figure out where we are?" She took her telescope from her belt and handed it to him, having noticed he had lost his own in the storm. He nodded and climbed the rigging to the crows nest, extending the telescope and closing one eye.

After a few seconds he called out "land ahoy!" Before taking hold of a rope tied down on the crows nest, he took his knife from his back pocket and cut the rope, holding onto one end, it zipped down, dropping him onto the deck below. He offered the telescope to sunset "north east, about half a mile away" sunset pushed the telescope back to him and smiled "set sail crew! We're heading for land" she put a hand on jack's shoulder "you keep it, I'll see if I can get a better one for you on land, but until then it's more useful to you then it is to me" she said warmly. Jack smiled "thanks.." sunset tipped her head to him, setting off to take the wheel.

Albin threaded his body around the handles on the wheel, hissing happily as he felt the warmth of the sun reflecting from the water. The ship sailed on towards the island, and once in view, mello cried out happily "this my home town!" He smiled happily, chanting "I'm home! Im home!". The ship came swiftly into the docks, the crew tossed ropes to the dock, and sunset leapt over the edge and onto the wooden platform, trying the ropes securely and sliding a plank across the ship and dock so the others could get off.

Mello came to sunset's side, fizz and jack took the down the sails and sat down on some empty crates and barrels on the dock, setting to work sewing up the holes and tears. Sunset took a bag of gold coins, showing them to mello "will these do as currency here?" Mello nodded "they are worth far more than a simple coin here, are they full gold" "aye, they are." She dumped the bag in her pocket "so, are you going to be heading home?" Mello shook his head "I want to stay with you, if that's ok. But I will go visit my family" sunset gave him a concerned look, then smiled happily "sure, you can join the crew. It'll be nice having a new face around, well... I'm gonna go into town and see if I can restock our supplies.. we lost quite a lot during that storm, especially after that aphid wave" her ears flattened against the bandana she wore around her head, "thanks by the way... i don't think we would have survived that without you..." Mello gave a small giggle " you shouldn't be thanking me, all I did was warn you" "aye, but we wouldn't have noticed the danger until it was too late" Mello nodded "well, I'm glad I can be apart of your.. uh.. crew".

Sunset turned to fizz "take down the flag, I don't want these people to know we are pirates, we aren't here to threaten them or plunder their supplies, this is our friend's home" fizz gave a nod and stood, going over to the edge of the dock and calling out "Albin! Lower the flags" in reply the flags fell, the snake had climbed the ringing, and wrapped his body around the rope, using his weight to lower them.

Mello smiled to Val "you've got a lot of work to do here, and I presume you'd want to get it done quickly? I have a friend, loc, he'll be able to give you a hand" Val gave a smile, turning to look at the damaged ship "yeah, I do have a ton of work ahead of me, I can get it done in a jiff, I've worked on ships all me life, buuuut.. a helping hand would be nice" He frowned "but alas, no one would be willing to help pirates, they have a.. thing... with our kind" Mello shook his head " I promise, loc is a very accepting guy, he'll help you" he rushed off, coming back with a deer who was busy wiping off his hands with a cloth "hi, the names loc, mel tells me you need a hand repairing a ship?" He offers a clean hand, and Val looks down at his on, callis and dirt ridden hands, then embarrassingly shakes loc's own "Val, handy man aboard the scamallach nice to meet you" loc smiled "ah, a pirate ship, that explains the strong shake, I find that pirate maintenance are usually much better skilled then any land dwelling ship repair".

Mello smiled, and turned to leave to find his family, and sunset travelled into the market area, she didn't understand the language written on the signs, and the townspeople gave her disgusted looks and scolding faces. She pulled a thin hood over her head to hide her face from their hateful glares. She found herself in a grocery shop, she was confused, how did they get so many exotic foods in one place? She shook her head and gathered enough food to last them weeks upon weeks, she didn't plan to stop on another island such as this for a while, and they usually sourced their food from uninhabited lands.

She returned to ship with Arms filled with plastic bags, she tipped the groceries from the bags and packed them into crates and barrels, the perishable food was packed into a cardboard box which was to be stored in the kitchen. Once everything was packed she stacked the crates and barrels and tossed a net over them,  she filled eight big drums with fresh drinking water and two with what was left of their whisky.

She returned to the markets and found herself in a camping store, she picked out a few things that might be useful. a compass, another map, a telescope, rope, pocket knives, portable lights and fresh sleeping bags among other things. The sun bear behind the cashier spoke in a different tongue, reading out the costs, sunset tilted her head and the bear rolled his eyes "you speak English?" Sunset nodded "aye" and the bear rolled its eyes again, muttering "urg.. pirates.." sunset shifted on her feet, then placed a few of the golden coins on the counter, the bear looked up in surprise "that's...that's too much" sunset nodded "keep the change, I don't use yer currency anyways" she flipped her hood back up and took her items back to the ship, leaving the bear in shock.
