It was further cemented in Edmund's brain that the new girl next door was his age, because he saw her hop into the old beat up truck and drive off the next afternoon.

She was gone for about two hours, and when she returned, she looked exhausted.

Edmund watched her stop and turn off the truck, before jump out and grab a few plastic grocery bags from the passenger seat.

She disappeared inside the house, and he saw the door close softly behind her.

They were just normal people, the blonde girl and the dark-haired man. But Edmund wanted to pretend she was a lost princess, a secret trainer assassin, a magic fairy trapped in the human world.

But over all of that, he really wanted to know her name, what secrets were hidden behind those pale locks and soft eyes.

He bet, more than anything, she was hiding something.

As he turned to go help with supper, he could have sworn he saw a metallic hand pull the blinds shut.

Edmund knelt before Trix, tears in his eyes.

"What do you want now?" Trix repeated, sneering as she crossed her arms over her chest.

He couldn't see her, but he could imagine what she looked like. Tight black suit, hood covering her face, so that the only thing visible was crystal blue eyes. Boots up to half-way on her thigh, and gloves with the fingers cut off.

"Your help," Edmund whispered. Suddenly, he didn't know if it would work. If she would assist him. If their constant battling formed a bond or not.

"There's someone new, someone stronger than you. Much to your surprise, you're not the most dangerous person i've ever had to fight." He paused, his voice cracking. He was so scared. "They-they..."

Trix took note of his appearance, of the scars around Edmund's eyes, which she had largely ignored until then.

Upon closer inspection, as she tilted his head up by the chin, the scars were raw scratches, dug deep into the flesh. The eyes of Edmund were a faded, milky white.

"They blinded you?" Trix's voice cut almost in half volume, surprise evident in her posture, even though Edmund couldn't see it, not that he could ever imagine her having such human emotions, even if he wanted to.

"I need your help." Edmund repeated in a whimper.

Trix was silent for a moment, thinking, then stepped out of Edmund's begging hands. "Why should I help you? It was your own stupidity that got you into this mess."

She turned, cape whisking behind her. "Guards!" She called, before gazing at him over her shoulder. "I'll have you know that I don't appreciate competition."

One of the robotic human figures came rushing into the room, grasping Edmund by the arms.

"Take him to the dungeon." Trix commanded. "I have a date with a future minion."

As Edmund was forced away, he heard the heeled footsteps of Trix fade away, and realized he had undoubtedly make the biggest mistake of his life.

Now, he had to fix it.

Don't worry if you thought it was going slow, the real action is about to start.

The introductory chapters are over!
