Asking Her Out (6)

Sorry for the wait! I'm so, so sorry for making you all wait this long! I've been sick since December, AP Biology and English homework-- ugh, now I'm just complaining.

I hope you like this chapter, and thank you all for the votes and comments. They made me so, so happy!

Serin's POV

"So did you hear about the party this weekend?"

Hayi asked, pursing her lips as she reapplied lip gloss. Suhyun merely stared at her nails, looking at them with distaste. I, however, just blinked.

"Party?"

"Yeah," Suhyun started, blowing air on her nails. "Donghyuk's throwing a party soon for Jinhwan's birthday. He was supposed to invite you." Suhyun glanced at me up and down, then scoffed. "Oh wait, guess you didn't make the cut."

I shifted uncomfortably. It's been days since we started this "Project", and since then, I've been getting used to how Suhyun talks to me... but sometimes, she's just plain mean.

Hayi smacked Suhyun's arm. "Su." Hayi eyed her. "Don't be mean."

Suhyun rolled her eyes. "Sorry... Force of habit."

"I-It's fine.." I shifted again.

Suhyun raised here brow at me. "Was I talking to you?"

I closed my mouth, then left to go find Hanbin. I can only handle them for a short period... Not the whole day. Running my fingers through my dark hair, I glanced around, searching for Hanbin or Bobby, but instead came face-to-face with a group of girls that I had never met before.

"Um.." I started awkwardly, taking a few steps back. "Hi?"

A bleached blonde girl, the leader of the group I assume, was the first to speak up. "Who the hell do you think you are?" She, and the rest of her group, eyed me down. "What makes you so special?!"

"Yah! Why do you always get Oppa's attention!?"

"It's not fair!"

"You transfer out of nowhere and suddenly you think YOU'RE Queen Bee??

As they were shouting at me, I noticed that we were slowly but surely gaining a crowd. As the crowd grew, I noticed people were taking out their phones, recording us.

Don't get nervous, stand up for yourself, I told myself. Hanbin and Bobby aren't here to save you now Se.

I noticed as more people were coming, it riled the group even more. But what I didn't notice was the blonde leader coming towards me.... The next thing I knew, I felt my body be pushed and my back hit the wall behind me, my backpack dropped to the floor.

"You think you're the shit just because you have a pretty face." The blonde snarled. "Who do you think you are?! You're all anyone ever talks about! Why?!"

I stared coldly at the girl in front of me. Pretty face? Pfft. If only she knew all the changes I had to endure just to get this way...

"Well first off, I'm not a transfer student. I've been here since freshman year." I rolled my eyes, flicking my hair over my shoulder. I stood straighter. "And, a pretty face? Ha. But then again, I guess anything would look pretty compared to you."

The blonde's face turned bright red with both anger and embarrassment. "Then what about Oppa!? What gives you the right to be near him all the time?"

To be honest, I literally had no clue what she was talking about. Oppa? Does she mean Hanbin and Bobby?

I smirked. "I don't have to explain myself to you."

The blonde twitched, "Like hell you don't!" She raised her fist, about to strike when someone stepped out, grabbing her arm.

"Ji-Jinhwan Oppa?" The blonde had a look of fear in her eyes. Jinhwan narrowed his eyes at the girl and her group, then turned to glare at the crowd of people.

When he opened his mouth, his words sounded fierce, yet calm at the same time.

"Leave."

As everyone slowly departed, I tried to sneak away too, but he grabbed my wrist.

"You," He said with an edge to his tone. "You always cause trouble wherever you go... Everyone's been looking for you."

"Oh.." I fidgeted awkwardly as he let go of my wrist. "Is that all you wanted to say?"

He rolled his eyes. "No, the other thing was to tell you to stop being a nuisance."

He turned to leave and as he walked, I couldn't help but to think of how cute he was, despite his arrogant, asshole-like attitude. I breathed a heavy sigh, readjusted the straps on my backpack, then turned on my heel to head to Hanbin's locker.

But what I didn't know, was that Jinhwan had turned back to look at me too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I got home, Jinhwan's words kept ringing in my head. Stop being a nuisance? My frown became more apparent.

Sighing, I take my time changing into comfortable clothes. One leg at a time, blah-blah... I changed into my grey, Totoro sweats, a nice fitting pink camisole, and a black, off-shoulder top. I switched out the heels for a pair of black vans, and let my hair down, brushing out the curls. Then, I grabbed my camera, my tripod, and a few snacks before heading out. Even though I have to put up this new image of myself, I still had a job to do. And man, did I 'love' my job.

As I walked the streets, Jinhwan kept popping up in my mind, again. Am I really... A nuisance to everybody?

"Ugh," I groaned as I walked up the steps to the studio building. Setting my tripod down, I unlocked the door with my key. "Why do I always cause problems for people?!"

"....Who're you talking to?" A voice muttered behind me.

I froze, slowly turning around to see two confused faces behind me. I scratched the back of my neck awkwardly, chuckling--just as awkwardly.

"Heh... Hi Donghyuk... Hi Junhoe..." I shifted awkwardly. "H-How're you?"

I mentally slapped myself. How're you? Really?

Junhoe started chuckling silently, while Donghyuk just smirked. Donghyuk reached out, ruffling my hair.

"You're a bit weird outside of school, it's cute." He smiled. "Oh yeah! I forgot to ask if you wanted to come to my party, heheh..." He laughed cutely. "It's this weekend and---"

"If you keep being cute, I might pinch your cheeks." I blurted, then quickly placed a hand over my lips. I could feel my face heat up, but then Junhoe and Donghyuk started laughing.

"You're really weird," Donghyuk smiled, then winked. "I'll see you this weekend, ne?"

As he walked inside the building with his gym bag over his shoulder, I stood there, holding open the door with a red expression crossed over my face. Junhoe, who stayed behind with me, smiled. He waved his hand infront of my still dazed expression, then leaned down to where he was eye level with me.

"Yah, if you keep looking like that, I'll have to kiss you."

That snapped me out of it. I jumped back, startled at his words, while he merely laughed.

"I like weird girls," Junhoe smiled genuinely. "Here, I'll carry your tripod for you. C'mon, it's cold out here."

I blinked. "Th-thanks..."

Why am I stuttering? Ugh, Se what's wrong with you??

As we were walking up the steps to the studio, I noticed that Junhoe was staring at me the whole time. Did I have something on my face?

"You know, I can carry my tripod if it's too heavy."

"It's no big deal," He said with a smile. When we got to the studio doors, he stopped me by grabbing my wrist.

"Before the guys can get a hold of you, I was wondering..." He chuckled sheepishly. "Do you... maybe wanna.. go to the party with me? It's okay if you don't, or if you already got a date, or something..."

"Are you nervous?" I teased, then a smile came to my lips. "I'd love to."

"Great!" Nervously, he leaned down, planting a sweet, yet short kiss on my cheek. And right as he did that, the studio doors opened.

Junhoe looked up at the figure with a smirk plastered to his face.

"Oh," He says as he straightens forward.

"Hello, Jinhwan."
