Day 10

Erza's POV - MONDAY

After the sleepover everyone had forgotten everything, by everyone I just mean Levy and Lucy. Juvia was insisting that she and Gajeel move in with me to protect me, Jellal however told her that was a breach of our deal and would end with him killing me.

I don't remember that part of the bet, but even so, Juvia said that she or Gajeel would walk to school and back every day with me.

"You really don't have to," I tried to say. "I can defend myself."

"Against him? Juvia saw you, Erza. You are not safe." With that, Gajeel left the mansion but stayed within the perimeter in case of another attack and Juvia helped me make sure Lucy and Levy were okay.

Jellal kept his part of the bargain and wiped their memories and instead placed in pillow fights which never happened. He also made sure that he whispered something sexual right next to my ear before he left, let's just say that I was chasing him down the corridor with a piece of wood I had ripped off of the bed frame. It made a handy stake.

The weekend had ended and that was when school kicked me in the backside when I realised that I had trigonometry homework. On the way to school on Monday I was frantically scribbling down random numbers which looked almost correct when suddenly I bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry!" I rushed as I knelt down to pick up the homework I just dropped.

"It's fine, my fault really." The girl knelt down beside me and picked up the worksheet before I could. "Trigonometry? Do you go to the high school here?"

"Yeah, I'm a student."

"This is wonderful!" She beamed, "You may know who I'm looking for, do you know a girl by the name of Erza Scarlet?"

Standing up slowly, I took back my homework. "That I do. Why are you looking for her?"

"I just want to meet her, I've heard stuff from my friends who live here."

By any chance, are your friends vampires?

"Well," she brushed her knees and smiled at me. "Have a lovely day." With that she wandered off, she looked around my age if not older.

That was... Something.

As I arrived at school, the air felt different. Everyone seemed to be in a dream like world.

I approached Lucy who wasn't like everyone else.

"Lucy, do you see what I'm seeing?"

"Yeah, Levy is in the library with one of the new students. Can you believe there are three new students, and they're all boys!" She squealed. "They're all pretty hot too, but there's one and he's literally what I was describing last week." Turning to face me she put her hands on my shoulders and said in a playfully serious voice- "I think it's destiny."

"Actually, it's Natsu."

The hairs on the back of my neck stood to attention as I heard the all too familiar voice. The pink haired imbecile was leaning against the wall grinning.

"Oh my gosh sorry, I didn't know you were there-," Lucy began to crumble as embarrassment set in. "I'm, I'm Lucy this is Erza my friend." She gestured to me which caused Natsu to look at me in confusion. I glared at him and somehow he got the memo.

"Nice to meet you two ladies, I think I'm in most of your classes you know?" He checked his timetable and nodded. "Mr Hades' class?"

"That's us!" Lucy nodded.

The bell for class rang out and the sea of people around us began to move. Lucy was caught up with a group and quickly managed to get far ahead of us.

Natsu looked at me with the same look he gave after Lucy showed no recollection of him.

"What's with her?" He asked.

"Didn't Jellal tell you?"

"Tell me what?"

"He wiped their memories, to protect them from the deal. I don't care if you've got me involved, but you must swear to leave them alone." I explained.

"That's very unlike Jellal, he always asks for something in return." Natsu looked at me from the corner of his eye. Then he gasped. "Oh no, not you Erza. You didn't-!"

He feigned surprise and gasped again.

"Shut up, it was a small price to pay."

"Well now that he's had a taste, he won't stop." He chuckled.

"I'm still going to win this though, soon you both will be out of my life for good." I sighed with happiness. "But for now, I'll have to put up with you."

"I'm touched."

We walked to class for a moment before I began to wonder, why was Natsu here? Then it hit me.

"Where's Jellal?"

Natsu smirked.

"I'm not the only new student here today."

***

When Erza Scarlet walks into a room, people say that she can change the atmosphere drastically. Others say that she changes the temperature.

Today they were correct.

As soon as I got to my class I felt the eyes of each individual move to me. My blood was boiling and my fists were clenched by my sides; I was on the warpath. From the edge of my vision I could see some students scampering away from me, desperately attempting to leap out of windows and some were praying to whatever God they believed in.

Everyone had a variety of hair colour, ranging from Lucy's bright blonde hair to Gray's jet black hair. But there was one boy who I recognised immediately.

"Natsu! I was beginning to think that you'd gotten lost."

Natsu brushed past me and leant against the desk next to the evil blood-sucking vampire.

"Erza helped me find my way here, ain't she an angel?" He turned back to face me and suddenly regretted his words as a swung my fist towards his face. He yelped and hid behind a random student. "Okay, more like a demon."

Jellal looked up at me from his desk and smiled, as if he was an innocent looking for a friend.

"I'm Jellal, Jellal Fernandez." He stuck his hand out. "Pleasure to meet you Erza."

I reluctantly took his hand but said nothing. After he let go of my hand I rushed to my desk and sent him occasional death stares.

Levy wandered into the classroom holding all of her schoolbooks close to her chest, she seemed to be talking to someone as she entered. Following behind her was none other than Gajeel, the werewolf from the weekend.

"-and then all you need to do is carry the six over and you've got the answer!" Levy explained, when she saw me she waved forgetting that she was meant to be holding her books. As a result, the pieces of literature crashed to the ground, but before they could make impact Gajeel had caught them.

He coughed as he handed them back to her. "These are yours, I believe."

Levy's eyes sparkled as she took back her prized possessions. Gajeel did a nod as greeting to me then scanned the classroom. His eyes stopped on a certain point and I could see the alarm on his face.

By that I mean he flared his nostrils.

"Gajeel!" I heard Jellal call out. "Long time no see, eh?"

Gajeel simply looked away and retorted, "Clearly it hasn't been long enough."

"Feisty." Natsu remarked.

"Gajeel I'm hurt!" Jellal dramatised, "I thought we were such close friends."

"You know those two?" Levy asked Gajeel who simply grunted in response. She shrugged and sat down at her desk, to my surprise Gajeel sat at the desk behind her cutting off Jellal and Natsu's sight of her. Levy turned to me and asked quietly, "did we have any extra homework?"

Lucy, who was sat at the desk in front of us spun around on her seat and shook her head.

"When don't you talk about homework? Seriously Levs, have a break." She attempted to dance sat down but stopped after I started to laugh. "What's that Erza? My moves are better than yours any day!"

I put my hands up in defence, "I believe you! I surrender!"

She smiled. "Just as I thought! And Levy we need to go shopping with you soon. What about Halloween? We could organise a party so you can get all dressed up!"

Levy shook her head. "I'm meant to be on a university tour that day, I doubt I'll be back in time for whatever party you'll organise."

"Liiiieeeeessss!!" Lucy hissed.

"T-They're not lies!"

Lucy shook her head. "I'm hurt Levy, I truly thought we were friends."

"We are!"

"Then come on! Just this once, skip that for fun, for something you won't always get to do." She stood up and proclaimed to the whole class now, "Fellow students, we are only students for a short time. Why not make the most of it? We should make stories to tell our children, and their children, create legacies. Not spend all day locked up inside doing schoolwork 24/7!" She bowed and gained little applause from those who actually listened.

"Fine, as long as you don't do something like that again I'll go to a little Halloween party." Levy huffed, putting her head on the table. "I'm so tired, it's like I got no sleep at the weekend."

"Me too, what did we do at the sleepover Erza?" Lucy asked. "It's like we ran a marathon!"

I shrugged and mentally thanked fate that at that moment our teacher decided to walk through the door.

"Hello class! Mr Hades won't be in this week so I'm your cover teacher for now."

When I saw who it was my jaw dropped in shock.

It was the girl from this morning.

The same pink hair, the same clothes...

"I don't like the whole formal thing, so just call me Meredy."

***

At lunch I avoided the boys at all costs. Juvia had to stop following Gray as he decided to sit beside them, she couldn't stand the vampires but didn't want to leave me because of the deal between Jellal and I.

"Doesn't it seem off?"

"What?" I asked.

"That Mr Hades is off this week, he's never ill." Levy pointed out. "This 'Meredy' seems way too friendly. I think this is a trick the police are doing to find out if anyone does drugs I bet."

"You've got it all wrong," Lucy shut her idea down. "Meredy is a secret spy who is trying to locate the gang lord's connections!"

"Gang Lord?" Juvia asked.

"Isn't there some gang around here?"

"No, Lucy you've been writing about that. It's fictional, not real." I sighed as I took a bite of my sandwich.

"Oh."

"She doesn't look that old though does she?" Levy said. "She looks a little older than us."

"Hey ladies," we all looked up to see Gajeel wandering over to us. "Juvia I need to talk to you."

"Sure." Juvia stood up and excused herself from the group. I watched as Gajeel told her something, neither one of them seemed happy or pleased about the news. Juvia motioned for me to go over to them.

"I'll be one second guys," I stood up and walked over to the two. "What?"

"During class something felt odd." Gajeel began. "Meredy isn't who she says she is, I think she's a vampire like Jellal."

"How...why...?" I was too confused. "Why would she come here?"

"The boys want to kill you in order to gain the manor right? So, maybe they called for back up, this mission of theirs seems to be invading your life." Gajeel suggested.

"Juvia thinks otherwise, perhaps she is a rival vampire? Juvia hasn't seen her interact with either vampire."

"Either way, we all need to be on the lookout for more danger." I finished, leading them back to the girls.

Just as I was about to reach Lucy and Levy, my arm was grabbed and I was spun around to meet the face of-

"Jellal."

"Scarlet." He smiled and continued to hold my forearm. "I just wanted to check up on you."

"I'm fine, still alive."

"So I see."

"And I'll still be alive in a month, in a year... Who knows how long? The point, you won't win." With that I turned away and made sure to click my hair in his face.

Just for good measure.

"Cute," I heard him say before he finally got out of earshot.
