02 ❧ Aine: The Ball-Crashing Hero
Note: I am no lawyer nor an expert in judiciary processes so correct me if I'm wrong but based on my research, Article 41 of the Japanese Penal Code (2019) states that the current age of criminal liability in Japan is 14 years old. Just putting it out there before anyone gets confused why the police would even consider detaining a minor.
That's all! Hope you enjoy this chapter!

{ Third Person POV }
No one likes bad news.
Especially if it's the police calling you in the middle of a meeting to tell you that your 15-year-old niece beat up a man two decades older than her.
The purple-haired woman literally jumped into her car and cursed at about seven different people on the road for being on her way. Most of them tried to yell right back at the mad driver only to stop themselves when they realized who they were talking to. Thinking it was an emergency, cars just went and parted for the pro-hero like she was Moses, walking through the Red Sea like a boss.
It wasn't exactly an emergency, per say, but these people be damned if they even dare delay her any further. Slamming her heels on the brakes in front of the Saitama Police Station, the tall and rather attractive woman hastily stepped out of the vehicle and was immediately greeted with an escort that pointed her inside the two-story building.
"I'm glad you can make it in such a short notice, Midnight-san.", the male officer greeted, opening the glass door for the U.A. teacher and veteran hero. Having no time to change out of her costume, Nemuri entered the police station in her R-rated attire that left very little for the imagination, catching everyone's attention and having people look up from their work just to stare at the curvaceous female following the chief of the Saitama Police Department.
"I should be the one to thank you for the call.", Nemuri stated as they entered another door, stopping right in front of a large one-sided glass window which overseen the interrogation room where a young pink-haired girl sat, legs crossed and nonchalantly looking at her nails.
Nemuri sighed out in relief. Aine was in handcuffs but did not seem hurt nor scared. To be honest, the kid had the guts to look bored. They must've taken her belongings since all she was wearing was her sweater and skirt, her scarf and boots missing.
"We got a call reporting a molester a few blocks from here.", the chief of police stated, picking up a brown folder from a nearby table and offering it to Nemuri. "We sent a few people in and found the guy, 35-years-old, in an alleyway with Kayama-san and another woman, 23."
"I see...", the pro-hero nodded, taking the file. "I was told she got into a fight?"
"Well, yes─"
"Did she win?", the pro-hero asked oh-so-casually as she opened the folder, catching the police off guard.
"Uh...yes? We believe so."
A small smirk crossed Nemuri's lips at that, pride written allover her face. When she finally caught the odd look the officer was giving her though, she looked away and awkwardly coughed into her hand.
"This is Aine's number.", Nemuri stated as she went over the documents, trying to change the topic. "She's the one that made the call. Why is she the one in custody?"
'Also,', she added in her own thoughts, raising a brow at Aine's phrasing of said report. ' "A boner about to get ass without consent"? Really? What is wrong with this kid's vocabulary?'
"Well...", the man reluctantly started, taking a moment to brush off Nemuri's behavior. Like Aunt, like niece he guessed. "Yes, she did make the call. But when we found the three of them, we also found the man unconscious with a broken shoulder, a possible concussion, what could be politely called as a 'shattered scrotum' and your niece sitting atop his body, sipping tea."
Blue eyes widened, Nemuri sheepishly turning her head towards the officer, then towards Aine and then back at him. She was at lost for words and could only purse her lips in response.
"The rest of the report is in that file.", the officer continued, looking towards the teenage girl who did not even look a tiny speck bothered by the situation she was in. "We could argue it was for self-defense since the man is more than twice her age and size. We also checked and he already have records with the same offenses in different occasions..."
"I could feel a 'but' in that statement.", Nemuri pointed out the obvious, cross-checking on the reports. The male sighed, exasperated.
"Midnight-san... The man may be the initial perpetrator but we have to consider that your niece took it too far and was practically unharmed while the other person needed immediate medical attention.", he said. "We tried to look over it all since she is related to a pro-hero but...."
The man looked over at Nemuri with an unreadable expression. "She's also the daughter of that villain, am I correct?"
A short and uncomfortable silence took place after that question. Nemuri did not meet the man's gaze immediately, her grip on the folder she held slowly tightening. He had hit a sore spot and had caused an eerie shadow to cast over the woman's eyes at his choice of words.
The hero sent the man a warning glare, opened her mouth and was just about to snap something right back, when she was suddenly cut off by another female, practically bursting into the room and catching both of them off guard.
"W-Wait! Please!", a brunette in a small semi-formal dress called out, clearly out of breath as she ran over to where the policeman and heroine stood.
Nemuri raised a brow. "And you are...?",
"Oh, this is the woman that ─"
"I was the one she saved!", said female exclaimed, cutting off the police officer. She took a moment to catch her breath, having to run the moment she heard that the teenager from before was being held by the police. "S-She helped me back there. T-That girl with the pink hair. If it was a little bit sooner, t-that man would've...", the woman trailed off, her nerves still shaken from the events of earlier. She gulped. "E-Everyone was busy and no one came to help...b-but she did."
Her gaze met Midnight's whose eyes had widened by a fraction.
"That girl... She's my hero.", the younger female said, a pleading look directed at the hero. "So please... Let her go..."
Nemuri paused at her words, blue eyes staring the woman with a mixture of surprise and, oddly enough, hope. The pro-hero and the officer exchanged looks before the male sighed, sending the brunette a polite smile. "Don't worry, miss. She will not be detained. We just need to ask her a few questions and she'll be free to go right after."
Nemuri looked at the man but did not say anything, smiling at the female when she continuously bowed in gratitude. The chief then offered to escort her out, leaving Nemuri inside the room.
Once left alone in front of the observation window, the pro-hero looked over at Aine with a soft and thoughtful look in her eyes. The woman's words from earlier echoed in her head as she looked at the child she had catered and raised like her own for the last six years.
Aine was a free soul, liberated and stubborn. Nemuri knew that since her mother's capture, all Aine wanted was to be able to make a life of her own without the constraints of society continuously telling her what she can and cannot do. She was a handful and a brat, but Nemuri admired the girl's spirit to be able to face prejudice and judgment on a daily basis with unwavering confidence. At this point, she knew that Aine had the ability to be anything she puts her mind into.
'...A hero, huh?', the woman smiled, a soft laugh escaping her lips. She shook her head, dark purple hair swaying with the movement. 'Why does Principal Nezu always had to be right?'

︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿︿
I made a thing with an old game I used to play back at elementary school:
Yes, I'm. A 19-year-old college girl playing dress up games at 2 am. I regret nothing.
Also, one person stated that they can't wait till Aine meets Eijiro but we gotta be a little bit patient. That was a major mistake on my first works when I dived into the story without building plot and ended up regretting every chapter that came after. So we'll lay out the stepping stones first, okay? ♥
It won't take that long since I already have a plan on how they'll meet and am currently trying to push the plot into that direction. So please stay tuned!
Anyways, if you enjoyed this chapter of SEDUCE, please drop a comment and a vote!
Love you all! Stay awesome!
