Chapter 10
Chapter 10
(I dedicate this chapter to ShinyPonyta, who is an awesome reader and writer. Since her amazing pokemon fanfiction, Zapped, is a Pokemon X and Y Fanfic, I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate this specific chapter to her.)
Amos had forgotten how annoying Mira and Leia were before going to Kalos. They were each on a flying pokemon. He was on Hydreigon, White and Fiona on Abel the Charizard, Mira on Draco, and Leia borrowed Zekrom from him. White had stayed in Unova a little longer to try and get N out of Unova. She had just caught up to them around noon.
"I'm bored, are you bored?" White demanded as Abel flew side by side with Hydreigon.
"If you're bored, why don't you race with Mira and Leia?" Amos asked her calmly, glancing at the other two trainers who were flying a lot faster than White and himself.
"Abel's a little too...old." she answered before adding to her Charizard, "No offense, Abel."
"None taken," grunted Abel as Hydreigon snickered.
Amos sighed and said, "Well then how much longer until we get there?"
"I don't know, you're the one with the map!" His friend retorted.
Not wanting to start a bigger argument, Amos took out his own Xtransceiver and opened the map on it. Unova was closest to Sinnoh and Kanto, so it would take awhile to reach Kalos. They were currently flying over the ocean, and the estimated time left before reaching they're destination was twenty minutes.
"We should be there shortly," he told White, putting his Xtransceiver away. "Do you know which city we're going to?"
"We're going to Lumiose City," she replied. "It's at the center of Kalos. We're going to wait for Margaret and Danny there, and I'm going to try and find Sky Blue."
"How do you know he hasn't left Lumiose City?"
"Because he knows full well that I'll break his neck if he does."
"He doesn't even know we're coming."
"He should. I sent a letter to that lab, and I think I made it clear that he will have to stay put or face my wrath."
Amos snorted at this. White had a reputation for being a talented fighter, not only as a trainer, but also a master of martial arts. Most male trainers, like her brother and Sky Blue, tried not to annoy her too much because of her skills.
"How are you going to find Fiona's dad?" He finally asked.
White shrugged and looked at Fiona, who had fallen asleep against her chest.
"I have to find out who shares her last name," she answered simply.
"And you're not going to tell me what her last name is?" Amos continued. White wouldn't tell him what Fiona's full name.
"Why should I?" demanded White.
"Because I want to help!"
"And I appreciate that! I just want to do this myself, ok?"
Amos was about to retort, but a black shadow and an orange creature burst out of the clouds behind them. He wasn't surprised to see that it was Leia and Zekrom, and Mira and Draco.
"Hey, we can see Kalos up ahead!" said Mira excitedly, pointing at the open sky ahead.
"We shouldn't be there yet, Mira." White told her flatly.
"Well you two got to speed up to see it!" Leia retorted.
"I'll see it when I reach it, I'm not speeding up." Amos said unconcernedly, and White nodded in agreement.
He saw Mira and Leia exchange evil smirks. Then a blast of wind tossed the Hydreigon and Charizard forward. Zekrom and Draco had used their strong wings to start a very strong wind to make the other two pokemon move faster. However, neither Hydreigon nor Abel seemed very happy about this. Both pokemon were roaring in frustration. He even heard Fiona scream in fear.
"Life's too short to be slow, sis!" Mira called in a sing song voice.
"WELL THAT WASN'T NECESSARY!" bellowed White, who was trying to control Abel and trying to keep a frightened Fiona from falling off.
"Lighten up, guys!" piped up Leia. "See! You can see the region!"
Amos looked down over the side of Hydreigon's back. A large mass of land was laid out below them. He could see dark orange deserts untouched by the snow on one side of Kalos. Northern Kalos seemed to be cooler, and the area looked like a ridged snow bank. The rest of the region seemed the be covered with forests.
"Come on, let's go!" Mira yelled as Draco dove down. "Adventure awaits us!"
"Oh please," he heard White scoff as Zekrom dove down after the other Dragon Type. "Someone stab me."
"We both signed up for this, we might as well take the best of it." Amos told her as Hydreigon and Abel followed the other dragon-like pokemon.
The region of Kalos looked so small from the extreme height they were at. The continent grew steadily larger as they flew toward the center of the land. They soon saw a white city with a darkened tower at the center.
Lumiose City.
"Head for the south end of the city!" White called to them as Abel swiveled in midair and flew to one side of the city.
As Hydreigon flew after the Charizard, something landed behind Amos on Hydreigon's back. He turned to see that Leia had leapt off Zekrom to join him and his pokemon.
"What are you doing?" He asked his cousin shrewdly as she returned Zekrom to his pokeball.
"Isn't Zekrom supposed to be a secret?" She replied, putting the legendary's pokeball in his hand.
"Yeah, but don't jump off him like that, you could've missed and fell to your death."
However, Amos gave up on scolding her as she rolled her eyes. He personally thought that White, Sky Blue, and Mira had been a bad influence on Leia, since the three of them had been known to pull similar stunts. Unlike the Jackson cousins, the trio lived much more difficult lives that required stealth and the ability to defend themselves (he knew that at least the two older trainers' defensive system included guns and knifes).
The three dragon pokemon soon landed on a street in Lumiose City. The buildings were extremely tall. There were cafes, boutiques, salons, and even a video studio. Advertisements were everywhere. A few passing people kept staring at the small group of trainers and their dragon pokemon.
"This is AWESOME!" Mira cried, already jumping off Draco and looking around at the buildings.
"Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me," growled White, getting off her Charizard's back and approaching the young dragon tamer. "I'm going to take seventy five percent of your money."
"What?! Why?!"
"Because you waste all your money on clothes."
"Ah, come on, Whit! That's not fair!"
"Are you going to take my money too?" Leia asked Amos as they watched White attempt to take her friend's wallet, which Mira was now holding out of her friend's reach.
"Not unless you waste your money on pointless things." He answered, getting off Hydreigon and pulled the two other girls apart. "White, please take her wallet later."
"Ugh, fine!" White snapped, turning away from Mira. "But I won't let you waste your money on fashion!"
"Where do you think we should go first?" Amos continued as Mira stuck her tongue out at White.
"You guys can go to wherever, I guess," his friend huffed. "I'm going to the Kalos Labs."
"I wanna go!" said Mira automatically as she returned Draco to his pokeball.
"Maybe we should all just go together," Leia suggested. "The four of us can wait for you outside if you want."
"You can do that, it's your time you're wasting." White replied, picking up Fiona and returning Abel to his own pokeball. "Do you want to come, Amos?"
Amos shrugged in reply as he returned Hydreigon as well. He had no idea what was in Lumiose City, and the only one who had visited Kalos before was White. Because of this, he preferred staying in a group.
"I'll take that as a yes, so let's go!" The older trainer continued with a frown as she led the way down a street, the three other trainers following her.
He noticed that lots of people stared at them as they passed, and he knew why. White was still known by many as a criminal. Actually, not many people were given the true story of Team Plasma's second downfall. Many people were told that Amos, Leia, and Hugh had stopped Ghetsis by themselves, with a little help from N. White, N, Sky Blue, and Mira had requested that not many people were told about what really happened. They wanted to tell people when they thought it was necessary.
They soon found a large, tan and green building with a gate in front of it. Two pokeball statues were on each side of the entrance. It had a few plants around it as well.
"This place looks bigger than the other labs!" Mira pointed out, gesturing to the building.
"Its the newest of the pokemon research labs." White informed her, setting down Fiona and taking out her Xtransceiver and a pokeball. "You guys can wait here or look around the city, I don't care where you go. I'll call you all when I'm done. By the way, Amos, one of my pokemon wishes to reconnect with his family."
She then pressed the button on the pokeball, and Archy burst out of it in white light. The Arcanine looked at Amos and wagged his tail, making a small whining noise. Amos sighed and withdrew two pokeballs off his belt and pressed the buttons. Liliana and Arianna yipped happily and ran over to Archy when released. Archy barked and licked his mate and daughter.
"Ok, I'll be back in a bit," The older trainer continued as Fiona squealed and ran to play with the three canine pokemon. "Keep an eye on Fiona."
But just as White opened the gate, two other people, a boy and a girl, had ran out and slammed into her. Amos and Mira caught her before she hit the ground. The two kids fell on the street, one on top of the other.
"Watch where you're going!" White snapped at the pair as she got back on her feet.
"Whit, it was just an accident!" Mira told her older friend soothingly, but she was just ignored.
"We're sorry!" shot back the girl, who had fallen on the wincing boy she had ran out with. "Maybe if you just-"
But the girl seemed to realize who she was talking to because her expression changed from being angry to shocked, possibly even a little frightened. White, however, didn't seem to notice this. She just ignored the girl and pulled the boy off the ground.
"I'm sorry," White huffed to the boy. "Did I hurt you?"
"N-no," he replied, looking surprised at her courtesy. "I-I'm fine, thanks."
White nodded and then turned her back on everyone. She looked over her shoulder at the girl. The girl was giving her a filthy look, and Amos could tell that White was only pretending not to care. Nobody ever seemed to realize that his friend was a person with feelings, and that she was once a very sensitive child like everyone else.
"What is she doing here?!" The girl spat after White disappeared into the building.
"She has a name!" Leia argued furiously. White was Leia's hero and role model, so it wasn't surprising that she came to her defense.
"Don't you even know who she is?!" demanded the girl.
"I think we all know, thanks." said Amos calmly and sternly.
"S-Serena," stuttered the girl's friend, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Let's not jump to conclusions-"
"Don't be so naive, Xavier!" the girl, Serena, snorted. "Surely you've heard of White Copperstone and the crimes she's committed!"
"My sister had her record cleared, and not everything you've heard is true!" Mira informed Serena fiercely.
"Well, then you can tell me how she got so messed!"
"You would be messed up too if you were an orphan in this cruel world!"
"Mira, let's just go," Amos told Mira, trying to pull her away from Serena. "They are free to have an opinion."
But Mira only snarled and pushed him away from her. The boy, Xavier, was also trying to disengage Serena from the argument. Thankfully, Leia seemed to decide that the argument should stop now that Mira had gotten involved. She stood between the two other girls to keep them from continuing their disagreement.
"Look, let's not argue about this anymore," Leia said to the two girls firmly. "There's no need to get off on the wrong foot over this. Let's just change the subject, ok?"
"I'm all for that," replied Xavier before Serena or Mira could reply. "I'm Xavier, and this is my neighbor, Serena. Me, Serena, and three of our friends started traveling around Kalos a few days ago."
"Well we're starting our journey today! I'm Leia, and I've think you've already met my friend Mira!"
Mira merely grimaced, so Leia hurriedly continued on, "anyway, the little girl by the Arcanines and Growlithe is Fiona, and this is my cousin, Amos. Actually, this isn't our first journey. We traveled around Unova together a year ago, and we decided to do it again."
"Are you traveling around with anyone else besides, err..." started Xavier, glancing at Mira.
"There are three others," explained Amos before Mira could find something to say. "White actually went to this lab to try and locate one of them. The other two are coming in a few days."
"Well, we might see you around then," Serena said with a smirk, as she glanced at the lab. "Oh, there's the rest of the group now."
Amos looked over at the building as well. Two boys and a girl were coming out of the lab. They looked around the same age as they were. One boy was short and had thick orange hair. The other boy had short black hair and a dark Vanillite t-shirt. The girl had long brown, which was in a style similar to Leia's. She was also wearing a pink shirt with black bows in the front.
"Sorry we're late!" The girl said to Xavier and Serena cheerfully. "We got talking with some of the assistants there! Oh, who are your new friends?"
"They are acquaintances," Serena told the newcomers dismissively.
"This is Leia, Amos, Mira, and I think Fiona is the one near the pokemon," sighed Xavier, gesturing to each of them in turn before introducing the newcomers. "These three are our friends, Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno."
The three trainers Xavier had introduced looked a lot more friendly than Serena. Trevor appeared to be very shy, because he avoided making eye contact with any of them. Tierno, however, gave them a small wave and a smile.
"Hi!" Shauna greeted them happily, holding out her hand to shake hands with Mira. "You're the group of trainers White Copperstone was traveling with, right?"
"You met her?" asked Amos, slightly surprised by this.
"Yep! She was a whole lot nicer than people said she was!"
"She wasn't that nice when we met her!" Serena growled.
"Well she seemed polite when we met her," said Tierno quietly.
"You're kidding!"
"She did seem rather nice..." Trevor told Serena shyly, trailing off a little.
"I like you two already!" chirped Mira, putting her arms around Trevor and Tierno's shoulders. "Aren't you two guys sweet!"
Amos didn't realize Mira could make friends and enemies that quickly. He knew Mira as a very outgoing girl, who had spent most of her life with trainers much older than herself. Amos and his cousins had been the first kids that she had met that were her own age. Mira was still slightly older than them, but he knew that she enjoyed being with them. However, the new trainers looked a little uneasy at Mira's friendliness.
"Err, so where are you from?" Tierno asked Mira nervously.
"Oh! I'm from Kanto or Johto! I never really figured out which region of the two I was born in, but I think it was Kanto!" Mira answered cheerfully.
"What about you two?" Shauna added to Amos and Leia. She looked a little puzzled on how someone could not know the region they were born in.
"White, Amos, and I are from Unova," replied Leia as she looked over her shoulder at Fiona, who was still petting Archy, Liliana, and Arianna. "Fiona is the only one who has lived here."
"Then how can you and White Copperstone be related if you're both from two different regions?" demanded Serena, her gaze narrowing at Mira.
"They're not blood relatives," Amos sighed, not wanting another fight to break out. "White, Mira, and another guy are just really close, so they are considered siblings. They're pretty much like foster siblings."
"That pretty much sums it up!" the young dragon tamer said in a sing song voice.
"Ugh, whatever," Serena snapped, clearly annoyed at Mira's irritating behavior. "Come on, Xavier. It's time to go."
Amos saw Xavier give them an apologetic look before following his friend. He never thought he would meet someone as strict and critical as White.
"Sorry about Serena's behavior," apologized Trevor. "She's actually really nice, but she has some very strong views on crime."
"It's alright, we were kinda expecting this," Leia sighed sadly. "She won't be the last to act like that."
"I hope this doesn't mean we can't be friends because of this!" piped up Shauna. "I know I would like to get to know you guys better! Your name is Leia, right? Aren't you champion of Unova? You match the champion's description."
"Well," started Leia slowly. "I'm not exactly champion. Iris is still champion since I wanted to visit other places."
"Well that's cool! And Amos, aren't you a coordinator?"
"What?" asked Amos, taken a back by Shauna's question. "Oh, yeah. I'm not a good battler, so I was trying contests."
"I've seen you on television," Tierno told him. "Your Growlithe and Eevee know some good moves."
"Err, thanks. I've never really met any fans. Actually, I didn't think I had any..."
"Hey! I'm your number one fan!" Mira whined. "You're my favorite next to another dude! That guy's pokemon team is awesome! Not that your pokemon aren't cool!"
"It's ok, I understand."
"Well I happen to like pokemon contests," continued Tierno. "They inspire me. I'm not a coordinator myself, but I want to make a pokemon dance team."
"I can see how a Pokemon contest could inspire you," Leia commented as she looked toward the lab. "Oh hey! There's White!"
Amos looked around to see White coming out of the lab. She was holding her Xtransceiver and seemed to be reading something off it. She looked frustrated and annoyed.
"Seeing the look on your face, I'm guessing Sky Blue ran away, right?" Mira asked White as she approached them.
"Well he's not in the city anymore," White growled. "But he finally had the decency to reply to my message."
"What was it?" Amos asked uncertainty. Knowing Sky, it could be anything.
White snarled and pressed a button on her Xtransceiver. She then handed him the device. He looked at the message and saw that Sky Blue had only put a smiley face with its tongue sticking out. Amos bit back a laugh and gave it back to her.
"Oh snap!" snickered Mira after seeing the message.
"Oh snap is right," snorted White. "I'm going to break his nose when I find him. Oh, it's you three." She added unenthusiasticly after noticing Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno.
"Err, are you by any chance talking about a guy who looks like a punk, and has only one eye?" Trevor asked White nervously.
"Yeah, do you know him?"
"Well, no. I heard about him from people who worked there. He's the Unova assistant who got ambushed just recently, right?"
"Yep, that's unfortunately him." answered Leia, who looked as if she was restraining herself from rolling her eyes.
"Then I think he went to one of the routes Lumiose City is connected to. There's Route 4, 5, 13, 14, and 16. Most of the north side of Lumiose City is closed off because of power failure, so try Route 4 and 5."
"At least someone is being helpful," White sighed. "I guess I'll try and find him then."
"Now?" said Amos blankly.
"No, not now! I'll look for him tomorrow. The idiot obviously has legs, I'll let him use them. I'm going to find a cheap hotel."
"What? Why can't we live it up, Whit?!" pleaded Mira.
"Because I don't have the money to splurge like you."
"Well who said you were paying?!"
"What do you mean?"
"I'll pay the hotel bill!"
"Mira, there's actually only one hotel here, and it's pretty expensive." Amos pointed out to her.
"Oh please, I've battled a good chunk of the Kanto and Johto population, and I always save some of my winnings for occasions like this!" She retorted. "Now come on, let's go! It was nice meeting you three!" Mira added to the other three trainers as she skipped away from them.
"Are you seriously going to let her pay that bill?" Amos asked White as the older trainer walked over to the Arcanines and picked up Fiona.
"I don't like her paying the bill," White admitted after adjusting Fiona in her arms and returning Archy to his pokeball. "But I haven't tasted the life of luxury in years, and I want to taste it again."
"When did you ever live in luxury?" Leia questioned shrewdly.
"Long story, and I honestly don't want to think about those times," sighed the trainer. "After that meeting with that stupid professor, I think now I should learn some of the basics of the Kalos language. I didn't know half of what the guy said because of his Kalos accent."
Amos heard Leia giggle a little, and he couldn't help but smile to himself as he returned Liliana and Arianna. It had been one year since last meeting White in person, and he was glad to have her back.
~~~
Sup.
Ok, I've been having internet problems and annoying technical difficulties, so I'm publishing this at midnight.
Alright, I think I'm set for the journey ahead. I actually restarted my Pokemon Y game so I could replay what the events were. I noticed that I forgot some events in Pokemon BW2 when writing SWS, so I decided to restart the Y game so I don't mess up this time. This story is kinda told from the perspective of the male hero (I swear, I think I called X Xavier before Xavier was cool XP).
Also don't hate me for Serena's behavior. Unlike a lot of you, I can't watch the anime because of my stupid TV and internet, so Serena is completely different than anime and the actual game Serena. Of all the characters in X and Y, my favorites were actually Tierno, Trevor, and Shauna. Those two boys seemed so sweet to me, and Shauna kinda reminds me of Bianca.
So, I'm looking forward to the next chapter. It's a flashback chapter, and I'm REALLY looking forward to it. I actually started writing a bit of it when starting this chapter X3
Btw, I know a lot of you guys are losing interest in this story, but for those of you who still read this slow-updating book, I'm not about to discontinue this book. I gave up on deleting and discontinuing my stories, so I'm not going to do that unless I have a good reason. The only thing you should worry about is when I'm going to update xP
One last thing: as far as I know, I can no longer dedicate chapters the usual way, so when I dedicate a chapter to a reader or someone, they're always mentioned at the beginning of the chapter.
I think that's it. I'm tired, and it's already thirty minutes after midnight. So, I'll see you guys later!
Good night/morning!
(P.S. The image is a fanmade cover from ShinyPonyta! I thought it deserved to be put up on this chapter with the dedication! Thank you again for the wonderful cover, I love it! :) )
