Chapter 28:Wolves,Scientists and Kidnappers

Ares:

Hamia is gone. Shit, Zale is going to lose his mind, but hey, at least he knows she has a better heart than me because she took a fall for a pack member everyone detests. I hid in the bushes and barked orders to the wolves not to go back to the pack, or they'd either capture us or find our hideout. I dash to Turquoise's limp body, dried opals of blood around her staining the grass, and urge her to hide, but she whimpers in protests and glances over to Hamia and bows her head. My snout hits her butt as I try to bring her to safety .Kassie struts by as we mind-link a quick and not-so-solid plan. But Turquoise is as stubborn as a mule, even though she's losing blood and terribly weak instead. Our original plan was to get Turquoise to the stream, keep her there and go in shifts to help her, but we are swarmed by hunters and a creepy human male that is very smart and curious.

We're in deep shit.

Save Hamia, warn Zale and the others, and attend to Turquoise.

Chandler stalks and loads his gun and whispers into the bushes with impatience in his features of hunted hide and seek. We're trapped in here, but I could mind-link for backup, but bring them to their deaths or play goose chase with anxiety to death.

"Wolfies,I know you can hear me. Come out, come out wherever you are?"He smiled, exposing his white teeth through his creepy smile. I shuddered as he reminded me of a creepy clown as he stretched his big heavy silver chains. I debated internally while I stared at the girls hidden in their respective places, and I was under so much pressure that I could barely think, so I dashed after I barked a warning and trotted over. But then I growled as they split, but I trotted towards the van as the buff dude secured and observed. The doors were wide open and exposed cages stacked from ceiling to floor. Hamia is sprawled in the tight cage bounded by a muzzle and fast asleep.

Then he noticed me then shot as I dodged, and leaped as he gaped at me in confusion and scratched his head. I panicked and darted into a bush about two miles away. I thought about my human form, but thank the goddess-no titan that I grabbed my gem and not my duffle bags. Well, thank the witches for sharing their new invention with smaller packs. Even though I've leant to shift, change and strip in a flash. I groaned in pain as I shot up,  shaky. My hair was disheveled; my black shirt was crumpled and soaked in sweat. The lace sleeves stuck to my arms, and my black ripped jeans felt usually tight and my boots fell apart as I groaned. patted myself to make sure I appeared in my underwear and bra. I sighed happily because sometimes you lose some clothes. The cold gem-not exactly a gem but a pearl, was cold and sticking to my fingers as I shoved it in my pocket. I cursed and realised what would happen if the hunters spotted me. I face palmed and bolted in.

I knew I looked like death and shit.

Bloodstained chin, mascara dried on my face like a raccoon and caked in dirt as I hid, breathing heavily behind a tree and I eavesdropped on their conversation as the buff, long-haired man explained how I escaped as the woman shrugged it off and smoked a cigar.

"Where's the tawny one?"The woman barked at Chandler, shivering.

"Um, she's gone."He pouted , his eyes on the blades of grass as the woman clenched her teeth and loaded the machine gun at him. He gulped.

"The white one?"She pressed, as he raised his lanky hands in surrender and stepped back.

"Dead."He said as she took long strides closer to him as he begged.

"Any other?"She asked with a sigh.

"Damn, she's probably gone to the pack, you idiot. Follow the blonde one and capture the white one if you find it. But luckily you've caught one. My buyer seems so eager to catch them all and owes a lot of cash."She hit him in the chest numerous times until he cowered .Then I huffed and crunched a twig.

"Shit," I gasped, then clamped my mouth shut, then I peaked, blinked my eyes, and watched them closely.

"Did you hear that?"She snapped, whirled to me."Um, no."He sighed and shook his head. I smiled as they took their separate ways as I sneaked towards the van and hoisted inside and spotted a chocolate wolf asleep in the cages. Then I paused as I heard movement and guns pointed behind me. Let me not bore you. I tried so hard not to blurt and lied that I was a passerby but they didn't believe when Chandler told them I'm the werewolf, but they threatened me and tried to cuff me and bound me, but instead Chandler pierced me then I ran out as the world spun and fuzzed, and my legs gave way instead. My eyes fluttered and my wolf vanished somewhere in my consciousness as the realisation hit me.

Then I was OK.

My eyes fluttered only to be met with brown eyes and billowing white hair."Are you ok?''The familiar voice asks as I sat up with stiff legs and a throbbing head from the blades of grass prickling my back. I nodded. Crouching down next to me was Turquoise, her face disturbed and hard.

"Um,Hamia is trapped and my wolf is gone. I'm pretty sure Chandler knows about us."I blurted as Turquoise assessed and nodded curtly with furrowed eyebrows. I looked around and spat at the white hair on my face as she sniffled a laugh. I forgot that her hair was long and she had a baby looking face that made her look childish.

She cocked her head and smiled, "Opps, that means. It's going to take a while before she...you know pops up again."She said, her expression hard but bothered as she avoided my gaze. Guilt spread across her face as she looked at the sky. I sprang to my feet as she hoisted me up.

"Don't worry, we'll find her ok."I said as her guilt and sadness morphed into confusion and shock, but she swatted my hand and looked at the grass instead.

"How? Did you see that?''She shouted, her hands clenched as she breathed through her nose and unclenched and clenched her fist. So I decided not to anger her more even though I tried so hard to mend my mistakes but the wound was deep and I applied salt to it.

"Your stomach."

She slowly pulled the hem of her blouse and shrugged as it exposed the already healed scar.

"I heal faster than usual rules."She added with a smile and all I saw was scars.

"Um, where's Kassie?" I asked.

"Giving them a wild goose chase."She smiled manically."Um ,I can't mind-linked Zale so we need backup, unfortunately."I said dejectly. She nodded as her eyes flashed blue.

Hamia:

My eyes fluttered open with my body folded on itself and my paws united, so I raised my snout only to recoil in pain. I shook my snout and tried to breathe, but I exhaled fur instead, so I squeezed my huge muzzle through the thick bars. And damn, this cage was small and l looked around, only to realise there's an array of cages varying in sizes, two front black seats, a silted window above, boxes of weapons and gins on the floor. Suddenly, the strong smell of dried pee and wet dog burned my nostrils as I gagged in pain. Then I shoved my snout again, only to realize I'm not alone, and a bundle of movement in an equally small cage. A loud bark-growl rumbled from the cage as if darted my eyes to it.

The wolf's wine eyes took me by surprise and awe as I whimpered at the sleek bark brown fur with red streaks and ombre coloured ears that reminded me of eucalyptus Fenton snow gum. A low warning growl shook the pair of fuzzy dice hanging from the ceiling through the car as the wolf sent out a wolfie grin of yellowed canines.

I let out a warning growl at the crammed-up wolf.

"Hi, you are fine."A deep, silky voice said. Guessing it was a dude.

"Excuse me?"

"Aye, you're a werewolf."

"Your fur is beautiful."

"I know. I'm hot."

"Yeah, how did you get here?"

"Saved little mutts that framed me for murder?"

"Took a fall for my friend."

"Damn, that's sad but I can feel your dominance."

***

As Chandler entered the van he flashed his creepy smile and gushed, "Aww , they're socialising. Oh, my God, what if they are mates."I clenched my jaw and we barked at each other and looked around awkwardly. He jumped , scrunched his face before stomping away. He pinched his nose and fanned himself, "Is that pee I smell?"He asked himself, recoiled and gagged.

The leader shrugged and tossed her cigar through his bars, "The male wolf marked his territory."She cackled as puffs of smoke, sounded, and he recoiled.

The wolf gave a wolfish grin. I'm pretty sure he's either a teenager or a very immature adult.

The buff guy entered, breathing hard as he was soaked in sweat. Slowly, other people filed in and the woman crossed her arms, nodded, and slumped against the wall.

"Jay, you know the drill."She instructed as Jay nodded and he removed the needles.

I growled, snapped my jaws, and recoiled as he furrowed his eyebrows. Then I felt a pinch as he grabbed my muzzle and shook it with all my might. Then I fell limp, my eyes fluttering. Then darkness washes over me as a whimper decreases.

***

Something cold was skimming through my sprawled body from my muzzle, then a strong nudge. I whimpered, but the wolf kept sniffing me, then I opened one eye, then all the way as he sniffed somewhere unexpected. My eyes snapped open, fully awake, then I leapt onto full attack mode, growling with my teeth bared. I relax when I spot the familiar wolf, but he imitates me instead by but wags his tail and tongue out with strings of saliva.

I rested on my hind legs and muzzle raised while I secreted my dominance and forced to wolf to submit. Damn, I should really stop that.

My eyes darted in the cramped room no smaller than a janitor's closet. A white washed room with security cameras in all four corners of the room, vents and a very cool room. In front of us was a thick metal hatch that could have been used for a bank vault door or a submarine hatch. I stared at the white floor lined with four doggy bowls: dog kibble, fresh water, dried meat, and vegetable mush, and the same for the male wolf. I couldn't help but wonder why I saw different foods and the small room.

"Where are we "I asked.

He stared at me in confusion.

"A cell."

"No, where are we?"I pressed.

"We are literally in a cell but you ask where we are? Um, OK. left Maines and we've been here for a few days but you passed out."He screeched. My eyes raised and happiness swelled in my chest. I'm out of Maine, but how? I was trapped. My parents ...and ...and Damon. My happiness deflated as I sank onto the floor. I whimpered and remembered him as sadness filled me. The wolf cocked his head.

We have been here for two weeks or even more, but we need to leave. When I passed out they did some experiments on Liam, the male wolf because they had questions about why his eyes are wine, his odd ears. After I woke up, they got weirder. They were curious about our huge sizes and compared us to extinct wolves and giant wolf sizes. I was very concerned that our hunters left us here instead of their 'client who desperately needed us' but left us stranded. I'm so confused by these so-called scientists dedicated to helping and saving wildlife. They placed us in different rooms and tested our blood and hair samples. They even made us scribble with crayons, but they strapped us with leashes and muzzles.

"WE NEED TO LEAVE."I shouted.

"No,shit."
