The Fang of the Prophet

Yugi was back in his room one night. And rather than sleeping, he had a bit of a dilemma.

Recently, he couldn't get why he was thinking about Joanna more. Ever since he completed the puzzle and hung around her more than Tea. Even when he thinks about Tea, his mind quickly drifts to Joanna.

"Arrgh! I don't know why my mind does that! I thought I liked Tea. She's nice, sweet, she's my childhood friend, but she doesn't show a lot of interest in me or my interests. Joanna. I only knew her as a classmate until I completed the puzzle. She's strong in her own right, she also has a gentle side to her, and she likes Duel Monsters too. Plus, she was always with me whenever I have those moments of memory loss." Yugi sighed.

"I'm so confused..."

----------------------------------------------

"Get Back!"

"Get back!"

Joanna looked up at the noise before rolling her eyes at the girls that were acting like guard dogs and bodyguards for some fake idiot Prophet.

"Kokurano-sama is passing by." a girl with green hair told everyone. "Open the way!"

The other students did just that and the group of girls walked in a line like their were part of an army protecting a King or some one of high important.

"What is this?" Tristan asked.

"You don't know?" Tea asked surprised.

"It's the recently-famous boy with supernatural powers," Miho added.

"Boy with supernatural powers?" the two boys asked in surprise.

"Yeah," Tea answered the boys. "He can see into the future. And he's pretty accurate, they say."

"You know how the girls are gone during lunch?" Miho asked them. "They all go to him so he can tell their fortunes."

"He was also right about a recent fire at a student's home from class A," Tea added. "He became famous because of that." Joanna caught the guy glancing over at them. "Well, I don't believe in stuff like that though."

"The day that kid can see into the future is the day I give up Duel Monsters," Kaiya stated as she gave an unlady like snort.

Yugi snickered as Tea smirked over at her as the tomboy agreed with her on the guy.

"Yeah," Honda agreed. "Don't let a shady motivation like that trick you! It's absurd! As a Beautification Member I can't over look it!" Honda then wrapped his arm around Yugi's neck. "Yugi, let's go!"

"I can't breath!" Yugi gasped out.

"Wait!" Joanna called making Tristan drop Yugi. "That's not your job as a Beautification Member. In the end you just want your fortune told too! Like your compatibility with Miho."

"What are you saying, woman?" asked Honda as he moved to walk past her while pulling Yugi along.

"W-wait!"

The three girls all watched as the three boys walked away from them.

"Man," sighed Tea. "Miho, you're not going?"

"Miho isn't interested," Miho answered her with a smile. "Miho's future is to obviously marry a prince with a big inheritance."

"Someone like you can probable do that," sighed Tea before she looked at the blonde. "What about you, Joanna?"

"No chance in hell," was the immediate answer. "I'll make my own future, thank you very much."

"Oh," Tea breathed in surprise. "What kind of future are you hoping to make?"

"Miho want's to know too!"

Joanna looked at the two girls with a smile.

"I plan to become an astronomer, remember?" she asked.

"Oh, yeah," said Tea as she thought about it.

"That's so cool," Miho cheered.

"You'll make it big with your talent for the stars for sure," Anzu added with a nod.

Joanna laughed before started to head the where the boys went.

"I'm going to go make sure the boys don't get into trouble," she told the two before leaving.

...My Line...

The blonde let out a sigh as she stood with the boys watching as the girls make a fool of themselves.

"Kokurano-sama has arrived," the green haired girl informed the other girls who clapped.

"My first customer please?" Kokurano asked.

"Kokurano-sama," the first girl asked. "I'm at the dawn of my beauty; will it last long?"

"I see it," the fake prophet said. "It will be that way until you die."

"I'm so pleased!"

'What a complete liar!' Joanna thought as she saw the obviously unattractive girl's face.

"What an amazing person..." Some of the girls praised.

The brown eyed eyed girl leaned against the black board as she watched the females make fools out of themselves.
-----------------------

Afterwards...

"Hey Yugi. You want to go somewhere tonight?" Joanna asked. "I asked Tea, Tristian and Miho if they wanted to hang out, but they were busy."

"Oh sure!" Yugi said. "Where do you want to go?"

"I know the place well. Let's go.."

Suddenly someone appeared behind them. Along with two of his followers.

"Joanna Wheeler." Kokurano spoke in an oily voice.

"Huh?"

"Aren't you interested in your future? In addition to you, Tea Gardener and Miho Nosoka are the only female students that havent visited me. Well, Nosoka can't be helped since she doesn't take life seriously, while Gardener's a good student, but she takes life too seriously. But why don't you come? I'm worried." He continued.

"Why indeed," breathed Joanna as she made it look like she was thinking. "Sorry, but I don't believe such things. You create your own future, right?"

"How rude! You doubt Kokurano-sama's power?!"

"Yeah, I do doubt his power," Joanna answered making the two girls that was with the guy gasp in shock. "And anyways, whether I believe or not is my own choice! I'm not getting pushed into getting my fortune told! Let's get going Yugi."

"Ah, sure!" He agreed catching up to her.

-----------------
"So where are we going?" Yugi asked later that day.

"A family friend's for dinner since my aunt's working late and sis is at her club meeting." Joanna clarified.

They reached an Italian Diner where they entered.

"Ah, sorry, but we're about to a-close-Oh Joanna! How are you-a doing?" A middle aged woman with gray-black hair walked up to them. She looked like a grandma figure, and her slighty pudgy form made her look more huggable. From her speech, she was part Italian. "Hey Jonny! Joanna's here, set up something for her! Oh, and who's-a this Joanna?"

"This is my friend Yugi, we have the same class together. I told you a bit about him." Joanna said giving him a pat on the back. "Yugi, this is Nana Miona, but everyone calls her Nana."

"It's nice to meet you Nana-san." Yugi smiled.

"Why thank you dearie. We were-a gonna close the place, but we can do-a one last-a table. This-a way." The elderly woman said taking the pair to a table near the kitchen. "Oh and Joanna dear, I think you should-a take Nana's advice and settle down with this-a one." She whispered to the tomboy making her blush.

"Eh? Joanna, is something wrong?" Yugi asked since he didn't hear.

"Ah, no worries, it's okay." Joanna covered up.

"Here's your pizza, Nana." Jonny, a mid 20's Italian man said with a pizza in hand.

"Okay, pizza... Pizza?!" Nana exclaimed flipping the pizza and it landed on Jonny's head. "What's the matter for you, Jonny? I break-a your face-a! Tonight-a, they's a-get a-best in-a house!"

"Okay, Nana. You the boss." Jonny said rushing back to the kitchen.

Yugi stared at this in shock. "Joanna. Is Nana-san always like this?" He whispered.

"Only when she's mad. Plus back when she still lived in America, she was a member of the Women's Army Corp in WWII. Even now, she's still 250 pounds of fire and brimstone." Joanna explained.

This time Nana came back with something that got Yugi's mouth watering.

"Here-a you are-a, the best-a spaghetti in-a town." She said as a large plate with spaghetti, sauce, and meatballs for two was placed in front of them.

"MMMMM! This is delicious!" Yugi said as he took the first bite. Joanna couldn't help but giggle a little since he looked like a chipmunk eating like that with his face.

"See, I told ya you'd like this place. In fact, I used to come here a lot when I was a kid." She said as they ate.

"Really?"

"Yeah, in fact, my mom used to work here as a waitress." "Your mom?"

"Yeah, in fact this place was where she met my dad when they were around our age. So this restaurant holds a lot of memories for my family. Even the staff were devastated when they died in a train accident." Joanna said with a sad smile.

"Joanna..." Yugi said.

------------------------------------

After dinner, Joanna made sure Yugi got some safely before getting home herself.

"Hi Yugi, how was your date with Joanna?" His grandpa asked as he was closing up the shop.

This in turn caused Yugi to blush. "I-I didn't, I mean we didn't date, we were spending time together." He frantically said.

His grandpa laughed at that. "Well suit yourself, but just in case, tell Joanna she has my blessing." He said before going off to his room.

This made Yugi turn more red than a strawberry. "GRANDPA!"

Yugi went to his own room and sunk into his bed thinking over what happened over tonight.

'But...still...' He thought as he fell asleep and he could still think of the tomboy.

---------------------------------

It was the next day and the girls walked up to the boys after getting ready for Gym.

"I'm so stiff."

"What's wrong?" Tea asked. "You look terrible."

"What are you saying?" Tristan asked. "Judo is the basics of being a man! It's the main pillar in a household. Gotta become stronger."

"I rather be in Judo class then play tennis," sighed Joanna while shaking her head. "I like the sport as much as the next girl, but I would rather know how to defend myself in different ways then to rely on a man to protect me."

"The boy with supernatural powers!" Tristan yelled which had the others all looking foreword. "What do you have to tell me?"

The young Blonde sighed as placed a hand to her head.

"N-no," Kokurano stuttered before breathing out a sigh. "I just had two visions. I came to tell you."

"Vision?" Tea asked.

"You!" Kokurano said as he pointed at Tristan. "Be wary of light coming at you."

"Wh-what? Me? No way."

"Wheeler-san," Kokurano then pointed at Joanna. "In places you don't know, there is a man watching over you."

'Yami?' the young female thought before she smirked. "What's that?"

"If you want details, come to me," Kokurano told her in answer.

"I don't really want to know though," Joanna sighed as she looked away.

"Really?" Kokurano asked.

"Kokurano-sama, what is this coming light?" One of his followers asked him. "Could it be something ominous?"

"Hey," Miho greeted as she appeared behind him. "What's under this mantle?"

"No!" Kokurano growled as Miho tugged on it. "Hey!" Miho looked at him with a smile. "Stop it! I have no business with those who mock life!"

Tea, Joanna, and Yugi stood away from their three friends as the bugged Kokurano.

"How stupid," sighed Tea before she and Joanna walked away from the group.

--------------

Joanna smirked as she and Tea kept volleying the tennis ball across at each other. When the coach blew on the whistle letting the two girls know that they could take a break and get some water, Joanna walked over to the water fountain. With a sigh, Joanna splashed water into her face before using a towel to dry it.

'In places I don't know, there is a man watching over me...' she thought as she removed the towel. "Really?" She closed her eyes as she smiled a bit with a blush. "No way! There's no way there is one."

Miho's laughter made the young Blonde to look over at her to see that she had covered Tea's eyes with her towel.

"Tea, Joanna! What are you two doing?"

"Hey, Miho!" smiled Tea. "Stop it!"

Joanna smiled she put her towel back to her face before she stopped and thought back to when Yami had saved her at the Burgerworld restaurant.

'It can't be...'

"What is it, Joanna?" Miho asked when she noticed that blonde was staring into space.

"Nothing," Joanna answered as she shocked her head. "That can't be."

"Hey!" a group of three girls ran up to them. "Did you hear about what happened in the gym?" Tea and Joanna looked behind them at the girls. "A light from the ceiling fell. Tristan nearly got hurt!"

"Huh?"

Joanna thought back to what Kokurano had told Joey as a worried look appeared on her face.

"There's a big ruckus over another of Kokurano-sama's prophecies coming true."

"Really?" Miho asked. "Probably just a coincidence." She then looked at Tea and Joanna. "Right, Tea, Joanna?" Tea smiled at Miho and nodded her head while Joanna looked to be in shock. "Joanna?"

Tea also looked over at her before the young tomboy took off for the changing rooms.

--------------------------

"Joanna," Yugi spoke up. "Why do you suddenly want to go see Kokurano-kun?"

"I just want to," was her answered as she walked on.

"Could it be...You think a man that is watching over you?"

This had Joanna stopping and turning to face him.

"No..." she let out a sigh. "Not really, but...Tristan's prediction was right, and...It might not be bad to see him once."

"Joanna..." Yugi whispered in worry as his friend continued to walk. "Joanna...wait!"

Yugi ran to catch up to her as she walked.

------------------

"Blonde, Joanna-san," Kokurano said when he saw her. "Welcome. I knew you would come."

Joanna looked surprised as it was a spire of a moment decision.

"Wheeler, Joanna will come after school."

"Well?" Kokurano asked. "You have no more reason to doubt my power, right?"

"So, can you tell me about the vision you saw of me?" Joanna asked feeling a bit awkward.

"Very well," Kokurano agreed. "Let me see your hand?" Joanna held out her hand while looking crept out. "What a soft hand."

'Ge! How gross! I'm gonna need a shower after this!'

Yugi was glaring at the guy as he felt Joanna's hand.

"I see it! I see it!" Joanna stepped back a bit looking weird out while Kokurano still held her hand. "It's a vision of you! The man watching over you from the shadows will soon show himself before you!"

"Really?" Joanna asked surprised.

"Today at 6," Kokurano answered. "Wait in the science room. There you will probably put yourself in his hands."

'Could it really be Yami?' thought Joanna as she gave small smile and a blush.

Then to her surprise, Yugi rushed forward and removed Kokurano's hands from around her own.

"Yugi?"

"S-sorry Joanna. I don't know what came over me." Yugi said with a blush.

"It's okay. I at least got my fortune told." The tomboy said. 'Though, can it be Yami, or maybe Yugi? Or if this is a trick.

"Yugi," Joanna spoke up as they walked down the hall. "Cheer up. It's not like all predictions come true."

"But...Joanna , you're going, aren't you?" Yugi asked when he stopped walking. "To the science room?"

"I guess I am a bit interested," Joanna answered with a smile. "It might be just a stalker though." She then turned around to head for the room. "A-at any rate. Don't worry, Yugi. Bye!"

"Joanna!" Yugi yelled out when the tomboy took off. "Guess it's none of my business? If Joanna falls in love...exposing the trick just cause my emotions are a bit mixed up...I broke the game's rule." Yugi let out a sigh as he turned around to walk off. "I hate myself...what am I to do?" Just then he noticed a book on the ground making him run over to it and pick it up. "This belongs in the book room." Yugi looked around. "Oh, well."

With a last look around, Yugi headed for the book room.

-------------------------------------

"Um...guess it's around here," Yugi mumbled to himself as he looked at the shelf. Just then he heard a noise of the book shelves falling like domino's towards him. 'Countless words!'

Yugi looked back behind himself and let out a gasp before the puzzle lite up. Yami was quick to get out of the way in time.

"I see," he mumbled. "Countless words, eh?" He looked off to the side in time to see a green cloak disappear. "So Kokurano is just making his own predictions come true himself! Some super power!" Yami narrowed his eyes in thought. "Then that means next..." He then turned around and took off running. "Joanna's in danger!"

...My Line...

Joanna let out a sigh before walking towards the window to look out at the sunset.

'I wonder if it's really is Yami,' she thought. 'Although I've actually seen him about six times.'

Just then the door opened making Joanna to look back to see Kokurano walking in.

"Looks like my prophecy correct?" Kokurano asked.

"What are you saying?" Joanna asked in surprise. "No one's here."

Joanna looked away from the guy which turned out to be a bad idea when Kokurano placed a cloth over her mouth and nose.

"There is! Right here."

'You were after this from the very beginning!' thought Joanna before she started to feel tired. 'Huh...what is this...? I feel weak.'

Her eyes closed as she fell unconscious and only Kokurano kept her from hitting the ground.

"See! Your destiny is to put your body in my hands!" He then placed Joanna on the ground before laughing. "As long as I have super powers, everything will go as I desire! I'll be eternally popular!"

"I wonder about that?" Yami's voice asked from the doorway. "Seems your prediction about me was wrong."

"You."

"All your predictions are fake," Yami informed him. "The fire and the light in the gym. You did it all, that's there is to it. And all just so you could pretend to have super powers."

"What could you mean?"

"If you want to play dumb, fine," Yami sighed as he glared at Kokurano. "Kokurano, it's game time."

Joanna opened her eyes a bit as she heard an all too familiar voice and saying.

'I'm happy that he really came,' she thought as she moved her head a bit to look at him. 'Yami.' However, it was proving hard for her to keep her eyes opened. 'Huh. The chloroform...' Her eyes once again closed. 'Sleepy...'

--------------------

Joanna for the second time regained conscious before and saw the shadow outline of Yami.

'I was saved by Yami again,' she thought with a small smile before she noticed that he was hurt. 'He's hurt.' She finally looked up at him. "Yami..."

A pair of crimson eyes meet a light brown pair.

"Joanna."

Joanna gave him a small smile before laying her head on his shoulder.

"Thank you..." she trailed off as she once again fell asleep.

As Yami looked at her slumbering face, his own soften a bit before he placed a kiss on her forehead.

"Your welcome, my Joanna," he whispered.

...My Line...

The next day the group all were walking together while talking about Kokurano.

"I told you," Tea spoke up. "It's better to not know the future."

"Miho knows it though."

"Never mind you."

"But, he's the one who got the most damage this time."

Joanna and Yugi looked forward at Tristan was all doom and gloom.

"Good morning, Tristan," Miho greeted as she run up to walk with him. "No need to be so down. You have to get your own future."

"M-Miho-chan."

"Let's do our best together."

The two of them cheered while Joanna cackled.

"Does he know what future Miho is thinking of?" Joanna asked.

"But, Tea and Miho-chan are right," Yugi finally spoke up. "Who knows what the future holds."

"Hurry, you three!" Miho called out to them. "If you don't hurry you'll be late!"

"Tea, Joanna, let's go!" Yugi told them before taking off though Tea did catch the stretch on his hand.

"Yugi!" Joanna called out as she run to catch up to them.

'When the incident happened, I never got to find out. But still, who would I end up with?'
