Chapter Thirteen: Invisible No More

My eyes fluttered open. I was lying in one of the hospital wing cots. I pulled myself up into a sitting position to see everyone who was around me. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, and Neville were all in the office along with a few professors and an older woman who looked like a Weasley. Ron was seated next to me in the chair beside my bed. "Finally you're awake," Ron said looking over at me.

"What happened?" I asked him. The last thing I remembered was taking the potion. I don't know how much time has passed. I was happy to see Harry alive because I knew he stayed back to fight with them. Was anyone else seriously injured? Before anyone could answer my question, the french doors swung open and in walked Dumbledore. I was so relieved to see him back at Hogwarts. Well there was one positive outcome from this.

Ron explained everything that Harry had told him. Sirius Black was killed. My heart broke for Harry, his only living family member left. He did look rather distraught over in the corner as he was speaking with Lupin. Ron then told me how the Dark Lord was there, and that Harry and Dumbledore battled him. I can't believe I was in the same building as him. I was hoping to hear he was destroyed once and for all, but he escaped along with Bellatrix Lestrange. The Minister and Ministry workers were there to witness it. Everyone now knows that Harry and Dumbledore were right all along, the Dark Lord had returned. "And Caoimhe, about the other day. I'm fine with being just friends," Ron added and I smiled. That was nice to hear. "But I do have to ask," he said looking awkwardly. "Your father is a Death Eater...why didn't you tell us?"

Hermione, Luna, Neville, and Ginny all turned when Ron said that. I was waiting for someone to mention it. "I didn't know until a few days a go. I swear! I knew absolutely nothing. I found my mother's diary and it scared me when I found out...I didn't want to admit it to you guys," I told them.

"You've never met him?" Ginny asked curiously.

"No, I don't even know what he looks like," I added.

"Well is your mother involved?" she pressed.

"No," I said sadly. "She's dead." I was being honest with them for the first time. Ginny said 'is' not 'was', so I didn't have to tell them she was one as well. She did escape them, so she made the right choice in the end. My mother was one of the sweetest people I have ever known and I wanted her to be remembered that way. They looked surprised when I said this.

"We had no idea..." Ron said looking around at them.

"It's fine. I never really talked about it anyway," I replied. By now Ron and Ginny's mother came over to join us as she heard our conversation.

"Well who do you live with?" Ginny asked me once more.

"I live with my brother, but I think he's involved as well. His friends were there, and they kept saying they couldn't wait until my brother found out I was with you all." The thought sent a cold shiver down my body. I hadn't realized how terrified I was to return home after last night.

"Well you can't go and live with him now can you?" Ron added. I shrugged, he was my only relative I had contact with. "What about your aunt?" I shook my head, the aunt I lied about. Ron got the hint and nodded. I would be going back with Colm. Who knew what awaited me. In all honesty, I was absolutely horrified to face him.

"Nonsense," Mrs. Weasley said looking over at me. "You can stay with us for the summer. We have plenty of room." Ron was always complaining how there wasn't enough room. I didn't want to be a burden, but it was much better than going back to Colm. Now that the other Death Eater's knew about me, I wondered what my father would do about it. Reading about him only taught me that he was power hungry and violent. I would be safer with the Weasleys.

"Are you sure? I don't want to impose," I answered.

"Nonsense, we'd love to have you. Any friend of Ginny and Ron's is a friend of the whole family." I smiled. "I'll sort it out with Dumbledore for you."

"Thank you so much," I said looking up to Mrs. Weasley. "That would be great." At least I knew the Weasley's would be protected. By now it was just Ron and I talking once more. "What happened to the other Death Eaters?" I asked him.

"Locked up," Ron said with a smile. "Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, all their fathers locked up." I smiled looking at Ron, but inside I felt bad for Draco. His father was in Azkaban and I  bet he probably wasn't taking that too well. "Other's as well. A few were found in critical condition in the actual room with the prophecies." One must have been Nicolai, considering he didn't move after the shelf fell on him. He deserved it. I felt no remorse. "A few escaped though," I nodded, there were always those who escaped.

The feast that night was incredible. Dumbledore was finally back, and in his rightful place as Headmaster of Hogwarts. The students were much happier now that bloody Umbridge was gone. Dumbledore went and got her from the forest, I personally would have left her in there without a bit of regret. She went back to the Ministry and now has a fear of centaurs. Harry still seemed upset over Sirius. I made sure to give him my condolences. Everyone was coming up to him telling him they believed him all along.

Sitting at the Ravenclaw table with Luna, we smiled over at our Gryffindor friends. "Riley," I heard a voice and turned to see Maeve. "You snuck out of the castle with Potter and went to the Ministry?" she said. I nodded. Where was she going with this. "You're crazier than I thought..." she said turning back to her friends. I rolled my eyes, but caught Draco looking over at me. His face was sulking. It was understandable considering his father was locked up. For the first time in a while, the Slytherin table wasn't the loudest table in the room.

After dinner I held back a bit. I had to say something to Draco. Even though his father completely deserved being locked up for being a Death Eater, I still felt bad for him. I spotted him walking down the hall with his friends and caught his attention. He drifted off from them and followed me down the empty hall. He approached me, this time with no smirk or amused look. Just a cold face. "I'm sorry about your father," I said awkwardly not knowing where to start. Draco shrugged, not wanting to talk about it.

"Whatever," he muttered.

"Your father saw me," I said to him ignoring everything he just said. "He recognized me."

"Well not much he can do about it now, considering," Draco replied looking at me.

"Well my father knows about me now too, but mine isn't locked up in Azkaban..." I said slowly. I wish he was. That way I wouldn't have to worry about my father being out there somewhere. Draco looked at me interested.

"Your father knows about you? What is that supposed to mean," he asked completely puzzled. The only thing he knew about my family was that Colm was my guardian. He didn't know anything about my parents. All of my friends had already found out my father was a Death Eater. It was no longer a secret. I'm sure Draco would find out in the long run, considering his father was one as well.

"I found out my father's a Death Eater," I added quietly. "I found out a few days ago...but he wasn't there at the Ministry. I've never met him and he's never met me." Draco held an almost shocked expression.

"Your father's a Death Eater? Are you absolutely serious?" he replied in shock. "You didn't say anything."

"No, I'm only joking," I replied sarcastically. Why would I bother lying about that. Draco looked at me once more, he didn't seem to expect that. Then again, neither did I. "I only found out recently. Plus, you never told me your father was one now did you?" Draco just shrugged. "I think my brother is involved as well. His friends were at the Ministry."

"I just can't believe it..." Draco trailed off. "You father is a Death Eater and you didn't know until recently." Just keep reminding me Draco. "Your brother definitely is as well then. Well how are you going to explain everything to him this summer? He's going to be pissed you were with Potter you know that? Not very smart of you."

"Well I'm not going back to him," I pointed out.

"No? Then where?"

"The Weasley's."

"You're staying with the Weasley's?" Draco snapped. "Doesn't Weaslebee like you or something? Why would you ever want to stay with them?" Draco looked almost angry. He probably wouldn't be this mad if his father wasn't locked up. He must have so much kept in anger, and now he would start talking it out on me. "I just have to add that you are absolutely mad. You could have gotten yourself killed. Going to face Death Eaters? Leaving the castle and sneaking into the Ministry. You either have a death wish or I don't even know," he rambled.  "Why did you do it?" .

"It was the right thing to do," I answered.

"You could have been killed."

"At least I would have been trying to help, rather than sitting here hiding from it all." His eyes almost turned into a glare.

"Hiding from what? A suicide mission? That's hardly hiding. You would have been better off if you never met Potter." Meeting Harry Potter on the train was the best thing to ever happen to me. Although it almost got us all killed, I had friends again. I was brave and no longer holding myself back.

"Hardly," I replied rolling my eyes. Draco shook his head annoyed. "Well I have to get going-"

"Yeah back to Weaslebee."

"What's that supposed to me?" I added rolling my eyes. "And no, I'm going back to my dorm." Why did it bother Draco so much that I was staying with the Weasley's?

"Whatever," he added coolly. "Maybe I'll see you next year." He then turned and walked off, without even a goodbye. First of all, that 'maybe' sounded very suspicious. Secondly, he was no longer acting friendly towards me in secret. He didn't truly care about me at all. I was right, I was just a game to him in the end that he no longer cared for. I turned over my shoulder and headed back to my dorm. How could I have been so stupid? I needed my feelings for him to just disappear forever, and maybe over the summer they would.

* * * * *

Once again another year has come to an end. I was boarding the Hogwarts train but for the first time in a while I was excited for my new destination. The Weasley's sounded like it would always be fun, considering all of the people they had living there. Mrs. Weasley set up Charlie's old room for me. I met Ginny and boarded the train with her. We sat with Ron, Harry, and Hermione on the way home. Ron was finally acting normal around me, just like a real friend would.

Draco on the other hand hasn't spoken to me since our conversation in the hallway that night. He simply gave me cold looks in the hallway or ignored me. It was very weird. Having his father locked up really changed him. He looked miserable all the time. For once, he was getting bullied by other students who would shout comments over to him Crabbe, Goyle, and Nott about their fathers getting locked up for life in jail. He kept his distance from me. I almost missed his comments.

Sitting here on this train and reflecting on the past year made me realize how different everything was. I found out so much more about my parents. My father was out there and he knew who I was. He knew I was siding with Dumbledore and Harry. I'm more than sure he was furious over it. The one thing I knew for sure was that this was not the end. The war was only beginning.

Thank you for reading! I promise this isn't the end of Draco, he will most definitely be back if you want a sequel of course!  Anyway let me know your thoughts of how you liked it! It helps me write really quick! & thanks to all those who have helped me and given me suggestions to keep this story going! x
