( ★ ) The university of Michigan is a magical place. Since its opening in 1817, it's been a dream college for thousands of people across the world. Between its excellent research, learning, and teaching opportunities and sports opportunities, the school has been a top choice for a reason. Aside from the opportunities it provides, a lot of students enjoy the experiences and views the campus offers. The campus gives students a view of the world and its history, and the large attendance allows students to make friends all around campus.

For most families, they want their child to attend college for academics. Although, athletics has started to play a bigger role in attending college. The university of Michigan is the one college where they always have school spirit and enthusiasm, especially when it comes to sports. Their football and hockey programs have been known as the best of the best for years, but things can come crumbling down in an instant. And the hockey and football programs know that better than anyone.

For years it's been the same ending for the programs. They make it through their seasons with winning records but eventually lose at some point during the playoffs. For the hockey program, they've won the national championship 9 times, which is more than any other program. But they've had multiple seasons where they fall short and end in disappointment, like the 21-22 season where they fell short in the semifinal. The 22-33 was going to be different though, they were going to make it different. If only they knew going in that the next season would be just like the rest, the only different was they would have someone by their side through it all.

( ★ ) Alexandrina Felix was well known in the soccer industry. Her brother, Joao Felix, was a famous and well-known professional soccer player for Atlético Madrid. When she was growing up, all she did was play soccer with her older and younger brother. She couldn't get away from the sport, she was addicted to the game and how happy it made her. The Felix home was no longer a regular home, the kids had turned it into a soccer pitch. The kids were competitive and competing at all times, normally ending in a fight between two of the kids. Eventually though, Alex grew out of indoor soccer. She didn't want to be inside anymore, so she joined her brother in playing outside and eventually joined a team in their hometown. They would attend multiple games every season and the kids loved it more and more each time. They couldn't get away from it.

Alex eventually followed in her brothers footsteps and joined her schools girls soccer team. She trained there for a few years while her brother went off to FC Porto. She hated that her brother had left, especially when she needed him, but she understood why he did it in the long run. Alex continued to train on her own and eventually joined Benfica when she was 13, becoming the youngest player to ever play for Benfica. Alex thrived when she was there, playing the best soccer she's ever played. But things came crashing down not long after that. In her 3rd season with Benfica, she tore her ACL and Meniscus. She was sidelined for the remainder of the season and nothing had ever crushed her more. She didn't know how to return from the injury, there was a fear in her mind constantly that she would step on that field and get hurt again. So she stayed away from the sport, only practicing to keep her skills. She didn't play for a team, and everything about her life changed. Alex left Portugal for the first time in her entire life and moved to the States, hoping that she could figure out how to fix her life and get back to what she needed most.

When she got accepted to the University of Michigan, she wasn't sure how to feel. She had never expected to get accepted and it only started to feel real when she finally attended the school that following fall. She quickly made friends, and got to know some of the players on the hockey team. But there was still the fear deep down every time she stepped on the soccer field. She tried everything to get over it but nothing helped. Well, one thing helped, but Mark Estapa couldn't be there every time she had to practice. Alex wasn't sure why Mark helped, maybe it was the way he made her laugh or smile. Maybe it was the way he made light of the situation and cheered her on every step of the way. Maybe it was the way he made her stomach flip every time they hung out. Alex wasn't sure, but she knew that Mark was the one for her. She just didn't imagine falling for someone so quickly. She didn't imagine having her entire life thrown upside down just because she was dating someone and keeping secrets.

( ★ ) Mark Estapa didn't know what life was without hockey. From a young age, he was a fan of the Michigan Wolverine's and hockey. His older brother, John, had been the one to encourage him to pick up a stick for the first time and he was forever grateful for it. He was obsessed with being on the ice, constantly in the backyard rink practicing. Nothing could get him away from the ice, especially if he was having a bad day. Mark would journal every single play and every single goal, making sure he could later look back at them and see how to improve. The only problem was it drove him crazy and it was all he could focus on. He spent every second of every day out on the ice and if it wasn't at home, he was at a practice for his team. His parents tried to get him off the ice but he would just ignore them and continue to practice. It got to the point where his grades were dropping and he could hardly function because he was so tired and weak. He had been so focused on practicing that he hadn't been sleeping, eating, or studying. Eventually, after a trip to the hospital, Mark stopped pushing so hard and took breaks in working out and practicing.

From that point forward, Mark kept everything under control and didn't let his mind convince him that he needed to workout and practice all of the time. He continued to practice in moderation and it paid off. He dreamed about going to The University of Michigan, it was his main goal in life. And it was also the reason he practiced as much as he did growing up. When he applied, he was prepared to not get in, it just didn't seem like it was possible at the time. But when he got the letter a month later, he was shocked and relieved. His dream was finally coming true and he was finally able to attend the college of his dreams. Mark would finally play for the team he had worked so hard for. The only thing holding him back was his inner fear of going back to the workout freak he was hurt a few years prior. He knew that if he attended Umich and had all of the pressure again, he would return to his old ways and become obsessed with working out and practicing again. His parents encouraged him to go, knowing that he would be able to control himself this time but he still had the fear deep down. And it only got worse when he was finally on campus.

He struggled his first year. That was evident as he picked up penalties all of the time and constantly worked out on the ice. His teammates and best friends noticed immediately that he was pushing himself past his limits. His school work and athletic schedule was difficult enough but adding in a business school on top of that was too much. Especially when you aren't sleeping and eating like you are supposed to. It can all start to crumble down and it did. His entire first year was a mess and he struggled. But when a brunette girl shows up on campus, everything starts to change. He immediately starts to fix his problems and gets back to a healthy schedule. His friendship with the girl was getting stronger and stronger as time passed. Eventually to the point where they were each other's comfort. Mark never saw himself falling in love so quickly but it was hard to not be in love with Alexandrina Felix. He just didn't expect or imagine having his entire life flipped upside down because he was dating someone and keeping secrets.

( ★ ) Alex and Mark were destined to be together. When they first met, everything immediately clicked. They could talk for hours and hours without getting bored of each other. They would laugh at everything the other person said. They always had a smile on their face when they were together. Everything about them just made sense. They knew things wouldn't be perfect, nothing could be perfect when you played a sport for the University of Michigan and had a famous brother. The only thing standing in the way was their fear and anxiousness. Alex was terrified that they would get together and the media would run them into the ground because no one is allowed to have a private relationship when famous. Mark was anxious that he would ruin his career and Alex's career all because he wanted to be with the one special person in his life. Though, they eventually decided that they were better together. And that was the start of their relationship, but it didn't take long for things to start crumbling down.

When the public gets ahold of something, they ruin it. And that's what happened to Alex and Mark. Everything was perfect at the beginning, they were in love and thriving in their private relationship. But when someone gave the media a hint that they were together, everything stopped. Alex knew her life was over the minute someone wrote a story on her mysterious relationship and what other secrets she might have. Mark knew his life was over the minute his name was revealed in the story and he no longer could protect Alex from the reality of social media. Everything about them came crumbling down fast and the only thing keeping them going was knowing they would eventually find their way back to each other. Their secrets would last forever.
