Twenty Seven

Holiday break was finally approaching which meant lesser time to goof around due to series of examinations and paperwork, more deadlines to beat, and most of all, long sleepless nights to endure before finally getting a well-deserved break.

"I'm beat." Taehyung complained as he rested his head on the table. Since the beginning of the exams, his head had been aching like hell which only worsen his mood.

The cold and almost freezing temperature brought by the winter season didn't really help him at all.

"Eat up. You need energy for another exam after this." Jimin pushed the tray of food toward the blonde who just groaned in frustration.

The cafeteria was packed with a lot of students who seemed to be having the same struggles as him.

"I can't remember even a single question from the exam." Taehyung couldn't help but to curse himself.

He just knew he fucked up the exams big time. He couldn't even remember how he was able to finish answering the questions earlier.

"I'm doomed." He groaned once more, feeling too helpless.

"Oh come on. You're being dramatic. I know you'll nail those exams like usual." Jimin uttered, reassuringly squeezing his cheeks.

Taehyung sighed as he convinced himself that Jimin could be right even though deep down he knew he wasn't able to perform quite well during the exams.

Even his paperwork and projects weren't that formidable to get the grades he needed to maintain his scholarship.

"Eat up and don't stress yourself too much. You wouldn't want Jungkook to see you looking so haggard, right?" Jimin teased in an attempt to motivate him.

However, Taehyung felt even more down at the mention of the ravenette's name.

The sole reason why he's been so distracted lately.

As days went by, Taehyung rarely got the time to be with Jungkook. He thought it's because both of them were preoccupied with the exams and all, but something just felt off for Taehyung.

Especially when he'll ask Jungkook out during weekends and the ravenette would decline because of some things he needed to do.

Taehyung had wanted to ask him about what's keeping him so busy, but whenever he tried to do so, words just won't come out of his mouth.

He would still pick him up after class though. However, it's just going straight home.

No more dates nor hanging out together like before.

"What's with the long face?" Jimin asked, noticing his silence.

Taehyung didn't respond as he picked up the spoon and toyed with his food.

"Hey, baby. What's wrong?" Jimin asked in a concerned tone.

A long silence befell between them as Taehyung finally heaved a deep sigh of relief.

"I think Jungkook's getting cold with me." Taehyung whispered, looking anywhere but Jimin.

"Why did you say so?" Jimin asked, moving his seat closer to Taehyung.

The blonde shrugged his shoulders as he finally shared his burden to his best friend.

"I don't know. Maybe I'm just overthinking or just plainly being paranoid but... it seems like he doesn't have that much time for me anymore." He confessed.

"Well maybe because of the exams or something?" Jimin said.

"Yeah.. Maybe?" Taehyung answered in uncertainty.

Jimin stared at him for a long while which made him a bit uncomfortable.

"You know what? If something's bothering you about Jungkook, just ask him directly." Jimin firmly recommended.

"Wouldn't that be.. awkward?" Taehyung asked, not really thinking it's a good idea.

"Babe, it's the only way for you to be at ease. Ask him so you'll have your answers. Overthinking won't do good. Trust me." Jimin smiled, grabbing his hand and tenderly giving it a squeeze.

"Talk to him, okay?" Jimin added to which Taehyung just mindlessly nodded his head.

"See you tomorrow?" Jungkook smiled as he leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on Taehyung's forehead.

His car was parked in front of the latter's house after picking him up after class.

Silence enveloped them as Taehyung finally faced Jungkook and only then was the ravenette able to notice his troubled eyes.

"Jungkook.." Taehyung paused, still debating whether to ask the ravenette if there's something wrong going on.

He's afraid to ask to be honest because he's afraid to hear Jungkook's answer.

Taehyung saw Jungkook's expectant eyes which made him sigh and just continue with what he's about to say.

"Are you getting tired of me?"

Taehyung looked down, feeling his heart beating loudly in his chest as he continued.

"I don't know if I did something wrong or if there's something going on with you.." He trailed off, feeling too afraid to continue.

".. or you're just getting fed up with me that's why you don't have time-"

Taehyung wasn't able to finish his sentence when he felt Jungkook's soft lips on his own in a lingering kiss that had him immobile.

His eyes were wide when Jungkook began kissing him deeply, lips molding against his own in a soft yet fleeting kiss.

He felt Jungkook's arm around his waist, making him close his eyes as he gave in to the kiss, letting himself be drowned with the passion and fervor those lips made him feel.

Both of them were panting hard when Jungkook slowly pulled away, hands cupping his face tenderly as he looked at him straight in the eyes.

His eyes were so soft and full of love which made Taehyung gulp down all his inhibitions and doubts.

"What made you even think that I'm getting tired of you?" Jungkook asked in a whisper.

Taehyung couldn't help but look away, feeling so embarrassed and unsure at the same time.

"It's just that.. we don't get to be with each other that much and you seem to be avoiding me or something along that line.." Taehyung mumbled. He couldn't even understand himself anymore.

He felt Jungkook's arms around him once more, hugging him tight as if he doesn't want to let go.

"I'm sorry if I made you feel that way." He whispered, hand caressing the blonde's back.

"But trust me when I say I'll never get tired of you, okay?" Jungkook slowly pulled away to search his face for an answer.

"I've been busy with a lot of things but I promise I'll make it up to you, baby." Jungkook uttered, kissing Taehyung's forehead once more.

"Trust me on this." He added, caressing Taehyung's face.

The blonde could feel the sincerity in the ravenette's voice which made him nod his head as he smiled at him.

Jungkook pulled him in a tight embrace, nuzzling his neck which made him laugh.

"Let's spend our holidays together." Jungkook mumbled on Taehyung's skin, a little ticklish which made the latter laugh.

"Okay." Taehyung agreed. His doubt was no longer visible in his eyes as he smiled sincerely this time.

He just wished holidays would come sooner so he could finally spend time with Jungkook once more.

However, reality came knocking at his door, making him see that things just don't always happen according to plans.

It's been a long time since I updated and I wanted to say sorry for that. I've been working now (need to earn a living to survive) which means lesser time to update. Please bear with me and be more extra patient.

I'll try my best to finish my works but it would take time. I hope you understand.

Thank you 💜

P.S I love you 💜💜
