You walked into the kitchen and caught the piece of toast that had popped up from the toaster, taking a bite as you headed back to your room. You put on your blazer and put your badge in the inside pocket, since you were undercover and your credentials weren't to be seen. You made sure your safe was locked, your shutters were closed, and your front door was locked, then you headed to the agency.
When you got there, you walked into your boss' office with a small knock, and sat down in front of him. "Good morning, sir."
"Good morning, Y/N. I know we went over protocol last night, but you know that I need to do it again." He said.
You nodded. "Yes, sir."
"Okay, then," he leaned forward. "You are to protect Han Jisung at all costs. Do not let anyone see your credentials or find out about your case, unless it is for Jisung's safety. He is your top priority right now over everything else. Understood?"
"Understood."
"Good," he leaned back and you stood up from your chair. "Good luck, Agent."
You walked into Shik AI with your head high, and when you told the secretary that you would be replacing the previous security guard, she walked you to the managers office. She knocked, opened the door once told to come in, then shut it after you entered.
You bowed to the man behind the large desk and walked forward. "You must be Miss L/N?"
"Yes, sir. It's a pleasure to be here." You replied.
"It's a pleasure to have you. I'm Hyunwu Yoon," he smiled. "I would like to quickly address your duties as security of such a prestigious AI company. You will be monitoring the programming department by making sure no one is partaking in suspicious behavior, in terms of body language, and you will walk around to make sure our programmers are on track at all times. We take our business very seriously, Miss L/N, and I hope you understand our protocols."
"I understand completely, sir."
"Very well, then," he walked around his desk. "I'll walk you to the programming department and you can start immediately."
You nodded and followed him out of his office. The building was very chic and modern; marble floors, high ceilings, high-dollar decorations, a few chandeliers in certain areas, fingerprint panels to get into particular rooms, and so much more.
The two of you came up on a sliding glass door, and he swiftly opened it for you. Everyone looked up to see who walked in, and you bowed your head at them.
"Everyone, this is Y/N, she is the new security guard for your department. Treat her with respect and welcome her to Shik AI."
He gave you a small nod as a goodbye and left, so you turned to look at everyone. Near the corner of the room, you saw a dark haired boy leaning back in his chair, seeming to think about something. You started walking towards that side of the room, monitoring everyone's computers, but paying special attention to Jisung. When you got close, he looked up and made eye contact with you, but you kept a straight face and got a quick glimpse of his computer.
He seemed to be on track, so you continued around the room. When you got back to the front, you stood on the wall and faced the room.
"You know," one of the boys from across the room started. "You don't look like someone who would be a security guard."
You let a small smile play at your lips. "You can't judge someone by their looks. It's very misleading."
You felt Jisung's gaze on you, but ignored it and kept facing forward. If you made eye contact, he'd probably think your statement was directed towards him, which it was, but he didn't need to know that.
"I guess you're right," the boy spoke up again. "I'm Jeongwu, by the way."
After his introduction, the remaining four in the room, including Jisung, introduced themselves.
You gave them all a small smile. "It's nice to meet all of you."
It was finally the end of your day, and you were ready to go straight home. As you were walking down one of the hallways, someone joined you.
"You look really young to be a security guard."
You looked over and saw Jisung. "And you look too young to be a programmer for such an intensive company."
He smiled, his cheeks puffing out. "You have a point."
You smiled back and finally reached the front doors. "Have a nice night, Jisung."
He gave you a small nod. "Thank you. You, too."
You walked out the doors and to your car, getting in and driving home. The first thing you did when you got to your apartment was call your boss, and he picked up on the second ring.
"How did everything go?" He asked.
"Everything went well. He didn't show any suspicious behavior, so that's something."
"That's good," he replied. "Don't forget about your training in the morning."
"I know."
"Get some sleep, Y/N."
You sighed. "I'll try."
You said your goodbyes and hung up, then you went to your bathroom. You turned the hot water on and made a bath, stripping before sitting down in the hot water. You ran you fingers over the exposed ink on your shoulder, following it down your bicep. You took a deep breath and slid down into the water, staying under for as long as possible before you truly needed air.
You came back up and gasped, pushing your hair back from your face. You felt the water around your waist move, your chest heave up and down, your heart beat too fast.
It reminded you that you were alive.
