You woke up the next morning to loud bangs and screaming. You tried to get off the couch, but remembered that Chan had handcuffed you to the leg of it. You were still in the room that he had you in before, so the sound was muffled, but it was still enough for you to know something wasn't right.
You pulled excessively on the handcuffs until you were sure you were bleeding, but you felt the leg of the couch starting to give out. It didn't take many more pulls before the leg broke off, and you ran to the door. Chan didn't see the sense of locking it since you were restrained, so the door was fortunately unlocked.
You ran out into the kitchen and looked in one of the bottom drawers, pulling out a gun and a clip, loading it as quickly as possible before you stepped out and pointed your gun at the guy in a black mask and cap, who had his arm wrapped around Jisung's neck.
You took a good look at the guy, ejected your clip, and threw it and the gun onto the table. "That's Hyunjin."
He let Jisung go and took his cap off, pulling his mask down. "How'd you know?" He asked.
"I could tell by your body line and the way you were standing."
"Oh," he smirked. "You were looking?"
You scoffed. "I'm an observer, Hyunjin. I'm good at that kind of thing."
"We know that wasn't a great way to wake up," Chan started. "But we were doing a test run for both you and Jisung."
"Me?"
"Yeah," Jeongin spoke up. "We want you on the team."
"No." You deadpanned.
"Why?" Chan asked.
You turned to Chan and shrugged. "I don't know, maybe because you're a gang, and I'm a federal agent."
"Y/N, we're not the type of gang you think we are." He said. "Honestly."
"No gang wars? No bad deals? No murders?" You questioned.
"We would never think about dealing drugs, first of all, and we don't interact with the types of gangs that start wars." He paused. "And no, we haven't committed any murders."
"Then how are you considered a gang?"
"Y/N, you're an agent, so you should know that some things aren't always what they seem. We're a justice gang. Our boss notifies us when something tragic happens, like a murder, a kidnapping, a rape, and we make sure the perpetrators get their consequences. We don't kill people, we show them that their actions have consequences." Chan explained.
"What about blowing up Jisung's apartment?" You asked.
"Okay," he paused. "That was a bad way of trying to get Jisung to stay with us, but you offered for him to stay with you first. That was a bad call on my part."
"You guys blew up my apartment?" You heard Jisung from the other side of the room.
"We did it out of love." Minho chimed in.
You heard a small smacking sound, and assumed that someone hit Minho at his response. "Why am I still being handcuffed if you're not a gang?"
"Some people like being handcuffed." Minho chimed in again.
You turned around to give him a look, and he threw his hands up in defense before you looked back at Chan. "We have trust issues. We can't just take your word for what you say. Sure, we did our research, and you're definitely an agent, but maybe your case wasn't to protect Jisung. Maybe it was to track us down and put us all away, but by the way you reacted this morning, I'm sure we all know by now that you weren't lying, and you definitely are trying to protect him."
"Wait," Changbin spoke up. "How did you find that gun?"
"She has a thing for guns." Chan and Jisung said at the same time.
"Can I call my brother?" You asked.
Chan nodded. "Sure, just don't tell him we're holding you hostage."
He handed you your phone, so you dialed Ki-Bum's number and put it up to your ear. It only took him one ring to pick up the phone.
"Y/N, I thought something happened! Are you okay?"
You smiled to yourself. "I'm okay, Ki-Bum."
"You're not at your apartment. Where are you?" He asked.
You looked up at Chan and sighed. "I'm in a little predicament with the gang, but I'm safe, I promise. Please, don't tell Changmin, okay?"
"You're in danger, I have to-"
"Ki-Bum, I'm begging you to not tell him."
It was quiet for a few moments. "You're sure you're okay?"
"Pinky promise."
You said your 'I love yous' and 'goodbyes'. Chan made you give your phone back to him, and you subconsciously rubbed your hand over your shirt sleeve, where your tattoo laid under it.
"I'll stay until I know Jisung is one hundred and ten percent safe. That means personal training, weapon training, all of it. I will not leave this house until he's at your level." You said.
"He's only gonna be working our computers, maybe some other stuff." Minho said.
You shook your head. "It doesn't matter. Everyone in this room needs to know how to defend themselves."
"Why do you care so much?" Jisung cut in. "I mean, we haven't known each other for that long."
"Sometimes I care more than I should. There's just something about you that makes me want to protect you." You looked away for a second, then back at him. "And I'm not adding another name to my shoulder."
They all watched you walk away and disappear into the bathroom, then Changbin pushed Jisung a little bit. "I think Y/N has a little crush on you."
Later that day, it had finally gotten dark outside, and you had your eyes closed and your head leaned back onto the wall. The door to the room opened, and you felt the couch dip next to you.
"Hey, Chan wanted me to take you to the guest bedroom." Jisung said.
You opened your eyes and slowly got up from the couch, following Jisung down the hall. He opened the last door on the left for you, and you sat down on the bed as you thanked him.
"Can I ask you a question?" He asked.
"Sure." You whispered.
"What did you mean by 'I don't want to add another name to my shoulder.'?"
You looked down and started playing with your fingers. "Shut the door, please."
He did so, then proceeded to sit in front of you on the bed. "You don't have to tell me."
"It's okay, you should know." You sighed. "My tattoo is dedicated to all the people I've lost; my mother, friends, family. I said that because if something happened to you, I would have to add your name to it, and I don't wanna do that."
"Y/N, I'm not defenseless. I'll be okay." He said, his voice quiet.
"I know you're not." You paused. "But unexpected things will always happen, and I want you to be ready for them."
His eyes searched yours for a moment, then his hand was on your neck and his lips were on yours. You kissed back and cupped his cheek, letting the comfort that was Jisung take your fears away. When he pulled away, his cheeks were pink and he rested his forehead on yours.
"Try to get some sleep tonight, okay?"
"I'll try."
He got off the bed and made his way to the door, shutting it after him. You laid back and got under the covers, and you let yourself fall asleep to the warm feeling in your chest.
