4 ~ class 1

A/N: in this chapter there is a lot of information, just to give you a idea of a normal school day. Some is important for the story and some isn't. I'll leave small A/N in the story so you know when you can skip the information and when it's important. Just to make your life simpler. But if you read the full chapter... Please don't kill me :(

Hermione woke up and you were already dressed. You looked at yourself in the mirror. You had some bags but it wasn't to bad you did your hair.

'Good morning!' You said.

'Hi.' Hermione mumbled.

You smiled and walked downstairs. You sat down on the couch and jawned.

'Good morning Y/N!'

You looked up. It was Harry. You smiled at him.

'Good morning.'

'Have you checked the schedule yet?'

'O muggles... I forgot.'

You got up and rushed upstairs towards your room. Hermione was dressed in robes and was busy with her fluffy hair. You checked the schedule.

That looked like a great schedule! You grabbed your potion books and your defence against dark magic books. You could easily get the rest in between the lessons.

You walked downstairs and saw Hermione, Ron and Harry waiting for you.

'Let's go.' Harry said while walking out of the door.

You followed your friends towards you potion classroom.

You sat down at a random seat. Ron sat down next to one of his brothers and Hermione sat down next to Harry... so ypu were all alone... again. You saw first year Slytherins walk in.

'Do you mind?'

You looked up and saw Deaco.

'No, not at all... as usually.'

Draco laughed when he thought about yesterday when he asked to same at the boats. You sat down next to you.

'Hello students. My name is Serverus Snape, I am your Potions teachter.'

His voice was so slow and boring. It was going to be hard to pay attention in this lesson.

'First of all I will divide you into pairs. If I call your name you sit down next to the person I call out next. Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinsons.'

Draco got up and walked towards the table of Pansy.

'Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Neville Longbottom and Susan Bones.'

Snape continued calling out names.

'Y/N Y/L and Harry Potter.'

You got up and sat down next to Harry. He smiled at you and you opened your books.

(A/N: lots of information up a head, of you think it's boring just skip trough it I'll note you when it's done)

'Open your book in page one please. What are potions... potions are magical mixtures commonly brewed in cauldrons and used to create a number of effects on the drinker. Potions range in effects and nature and in difficulty as well. An example of a beginners potion is the Cure for Boils, which is the first potion you will learn here at Hogwarts. An more advanced and challenging one is the Polyjuice Potion that even adult Witches and Wizards have trouble with.'

You wrote down what Snape said. He paused and waited until every one had finished writing.

'Potions are brewed from ingredients with magical properties. Potions can be used as medicine, lethal poison, or give the drinker any effect from strength enhancement to immunity to flames. Potions are not necessarily used by drinking, as some can be applied by physical contact or create an effect simply by being created, such as the Regeneration Potion.'

He stopped again. You had to write down a lot. But it was really interesting. You already loved the subject.

'Potions have a distinct advantage over typical spells in that they could be used even by the non-Magical, provided that they have the potion itself at their disposal. There are also certain Magical effects that can only be induced through the use of Potions.'

'This is going to take for ever.' Harry whispered.

'I don't know why but I like this already.'

'But his voice... His voice!'

'Mister Potter, misses Y/L. Silence please.'

You continued writing your last sentence.

'Every body done? I'll continue.'

'Potions must be brewed carefully to achieve the proper effects. In certain cases, those are brewed incorrectly or in a dirty cauldron can become poisons. In other cases, even potions that have been brewed correctly may in some cases have deleterious effects, even if their intended effect is beneficial; for example, Felix Felicis causes recklessness and overconfidence when used more than sparingly, while the Elixir to Induce Euphoria has side-effects such as excessive singing and nose-tweaking, though these can be countered by adding peppermint.'

(A/N: it done!)

You wrote your last sentence and dropped your quill and twisted your hand a couple of times.

'I can't believe you wrote everything down. The book says the same only a bit longer.'

'I prefer a summary...'

Your hand slowly stopped hurting.

'That was all the theory for today. I want you to prepare yourselfs. You are going to brew the Cure for Boils potion next lesson.'

Then the lessons was over. You gathered your notes and put them in your book so you wouldn't loose them. You got up and walked towards you next class. Defence against the dark arts.

You walked into the class room and sat down next to Hermione.

'Maybe the teacher knows something about Avada Kedavra.' Hermione said.
'We could always ask.'

The professor walked in.

'Good morning my name is  Quirinus Quirrell and I will be teaching you this course. You don't have to switch places, we'll just start. Write with me please. And we will start.'

(A/N: infromation time, not interested? Read until the next A/N! Something important is happening in this class.)

' The Dark Arts, also known as Dark Magic, refers to any type of magic that is mainly used to cause harm, control, or even death to the victim. The Dark Arts are not necessarily "evil", just because it's labelled "dark".

The Dark Arts encompass many spells and actions ranging from the powerful Unforgivable Curses to brewing harmful or poisonous potions to breeding Dark creatures such as Basilisks, and its practise is often illegal or at least discouraged. Practitioners are referred to as Dark wizards or witches, the most prominent and powerful of whom was Him-How-Must-Not-Be-Named. His followers, known as Death Eaters, also practised the Dark Arts.'

You wrote it down. Hermione raised his end.

'Write down your question, I will first explain.'

Hermione lowered her hand again with a sigh.

(A/N: THIS PIECE OF INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT)

' According to Albus Dumbledore, the only power strong enough to enable a person to resist the temptation of the Dark Arts, and to defeat them, is love. He was perhaps referring to the Sacrificial Protection shield which Lily Potter used to protect infant Harry Potter. Who is sitting right there. Welcome Potter. Also love has been proven when (you mothers full name) was captured my Him-How-Must-Not-Be-Named and his death eaters while she was pregnant.'

You looked at Hermione.

'You didn't know?' She asked.

You shook your head and listened to the story.

'She was struck multiple times by a curse that was supposed to kill her and her baby but one way or the other she survived... and so did her infant. When the father (You fathers full name) rescued the two the two they were perfectly fine. Not even a single scratch. Making it the strangest and most magical story in the history. It did have it's affect on the child. But we talk about it later. Or she could tell us her self.'

(A/N: NOT IMPORTANT ANY MORE :P)

'While the Dark Arts have a bad reputation, overall, dark magic is not, by definition, "evil" magic. Indeed, dark magic can be used for good as well as evil. Even the Killing Curse can be used for good. At the same time, dark magic is not the only type of magic that can be used with the intent to kill. For example, the Severing Charm can kill if used irresponsibly.'

You wrote it down. Your hand started hurting already.

'The only exception to this rule is the spell which creates a Horcrux; this is an entirely selfish act. taking a life in order to prolong one's own. This act is so reprehensible that the caster's soul becomes fragmented, allowing the creation of a Horcrux. The soul can only be restored by complete remorse for the murder, or repentance, which is actually painful enough to cause death.'

(A/N: no information any more, only a bit. But that is important for the story.)

You wrote down your last sentence.

You put down your quill.

'Are there any questions?'

Hermione raised her hand.

'Miss Granger.'

'What is Avada Kedavra?'

Professor looked surprised.

'Avada Kedavra is one of the know dark curses. Together with:
Crucio which is a Cruciatus Curse
Imperio which is aImperius Curse
Avada Kedavra is a killing curse. It kills the opponent immediately.'

Hermione looked at you. You quickly wrote it down.

'Why did you want to know?'

'I read it some were but didn't know what it was.'

'Next week we are going to talk about some dark potions and the defence against dark arts and the law. Which is kind off important. Be prepared, read something about it. And I'll see you next lesson.'

You put your notes away and got up.

'You had a dream about someone killing you with that curse?' Hermione asked you while walked towards the common room.

'Yes... I don't know why...'

You quickly grabbed your books and walked towards your next class. History of magic.
