33 | Wake Up, It's Morning

2016 Tree Hill, North Carolina

When Nathan got back from Texas, Logan could tell it wasn't a great visit. Her brother recapped everything for her. Haley told Nathan that they rushed into things and she couldn't be who he needed her to be. Logan thought that was a pretty crappy thing to say. Then Nathan explained that he went to see Haley's sister Taylor, and in his hurt, he almost tried to sleep with her, but then he couldn't go through with it, Taylor also revealed she was never going to sleep with him or let Nathan try anyway.

Logan woke up in the middle of the night, as she often did, and she had the urge to binge, so she made her way to the kitchen. What she didn't expect was to see a figure standing there, holding a beer and looking at the pink wall and clown picture that Nathan put up. Logan let out a small shriek, which made the intruder in their house turn around and Nathan immediately came out from his bedroom.

"Lo, you okay?" Nathan asked. He stopped short when he saw the person standing in their living room.

"How much for the wall?" Their Uncle, Cooper Lee asked as he turned around. Logan let out a sigh of relief to see it wasn't a real intruder, but she was still wondering how Cooper got into their apartment. Cooper is their Mom, Deb's brother. Logan and Nathan have always been close with him, but their father Dan wasn't a big fan of him.

Cooper wasn't Dan's biggest fan either.

"Uncle Cooper, you scared the hell out of me," Logan said. A part of her was grateful that he was here, considering what she had left her room to do, and now she couldn't. But the other part of her, the part that had a strong urge to binge was pissed that her ritual got interrupted.

"Sorry about that, Lo. but I'm serious about the wall. I'll take it. The whole thing, the pink paint, the creepy clown," Cooper said. Nathan shook his head as Cooper started to take money out of his back pocket, and some of the bills fell on the floor. "Look, I'll give you uh... five hundred and whatever fell on the floor," Cooper said. Nathan and Logan were smiling. They loved Cooper.

"How are you doing, Coop?" Logan asked.

"Better than your little bitch brother," Cooper said making Logan laugh even harder. Nathan laughed too, but he slightly turned his head away. "Come here and give your Uncle some love," Cooper said. Nathan and Logan laughed and Nathan hugged him first. Then Logan hugged him and she felt him squeeze her a bit extra.

"Hey... it's good to see you both," He said. Logan smiled as Cooper walked into the kitchen. Nathan reached down and picked up the money that he dropped.

"So, what are you doing here, Coop? And how the hell did you get in?" Logan asked and Cooper laughed.

"Your Mom called me, and I gotta tell you, if my big sister is calling me, then the situation is really eff'd up, you know?" Cooper said. Nathan nodded and tried to give Cooper the money back from the ground, but Cooper shook his head.

"Split it with Lo," Cooper said. Logan looked over to see how much Nathan had, and it was $120, from all twenties, so Nathan handed her $60.

"So, what did Mom tell you?" Logan asked.

"That you're not my biological niece. That one took a minute to adjust to," Cooper said. Logan and Nathan shared a look.

"Tell me about it," Nathan said. Although Logan was sad that Cooper had to find out like that, she was also slightly happy that he hadn't known. That meant not every adult in her life lied to her.

"Yeah, we've been dealing with it best we can, but it's still... I don't know, weird," Logan said as she shrugged and Nathan nodded.

"After sitting with it for a few days, I've decided I don't care, it changes nothing. You're my family, blood doesn't determine that, and I don't love you any less. Neither does your mother, you know that, right?" Cooper asked and Logan nodded.

"Yeah, I know. I don't love you guys any less either, except maybe my Dad," Logan said. Nathan and Cooper laughed at that. Then Cooper turned to Nathan.

"And you, I could beat your ass for looking like this, by the way. You handsome bastard. I mean, I'm starting to finally feel good about myself' I'm a race car driver, I'm making a few bucks, and now I gotta compete with this?" Cooper said. Nathan shook him off.

"Dude, stop it," Nathan said.

"I'm serious, what's wrong with her? What? Did you marry a blind girl? Unless it...-Oh man... it's your gear, isn't it? Huh, okay. Drop your shorts, let's have a look," Cooper said and Logan started laughing.

"I think that's my cue to go back to bed," Logan said.

"Cooper," Nathan said.

"No, come on, let's see it," Cooper said as he took a step toward Nathan. Logan's brother started to laugh as he backed away from their uncle.

"What are you doing man?" Nathan asked as he laughed.

"Perspective, nephew. I'm here to adjust yours," Cooper said. Logan smiled. Cooper picked up his beer and took a drink. Logan was happy that Cooper was here. This was the first time she'd seen Nathan genuinely smile since Haley left. She was glad that her Mom called Cooper. With one Uncle pissed at her, it felt good to have another one in town.

"Well, boys... let's have some fun."

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

The siblings went to get Lucas, and then Cooper took all of them to his racing track. Logan always thought it was cool that Cooper was a professional race car driver, but now he has his own track, that's where he took them. His track is called, "Cooper Lee Enterprises, INC." Lee is their mom's maiden name, and she didn't think Logan and Nathan Lee sounded too bad. Logan was happy that Nathan suggested that Lucas come too.

It'll be great sibling bonding.

"So, Coop. How great is it that you get to race cars for a living?" Lucas asked and Cooper smiled.

"Oh, you know; fame, money... extremely hot wives," Cooper said as he gave Nathan a pointed look. Nathan rolled his eyes and Logan laughed.

"Ex-wives," Nathan said. Cooper scoffed as he shook his head.

"Look who's talking," Cooper said and Logan laughed as they reached the entrance to the race track. Logan watched as Lucas' eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas who got exactly what he asked for. Logan nudged her Uncle and gestured to Lucas, when Cooper saw the expression on his face, he smiled as well. "I'll tell you what... there's only one view better than this one," He said as he pointed to a car coming around the track. "That one,"

Cooper took them to the pits, where the cars are when they're not on the track. Lucas was looking around, nodding his head in approval. Logan could tell he thought he was in Heaven at the moment and probably wished that Keith was also here since they worked on cars together.

"This is Jeff Burton's car," Lucas said as he walked over to the car that he recognized. Cooper nodded.

"Yes it is," He said and Lucas' eyes widened, which made Cooper laugh. "Do you guys wanna meet him?" He asked. Nathan and Lucas nodded while Logan shrugged. She doesn't keep up with NASCAR like they do, she just wants to spend time with her uncle and brothers.

"Yeah," Lucas said. As the men talked with Jeff, Logan walked around and was looking at the other cars. Nathan called his sister back into the conversation and as she approached them, Lucas was asking Cooper a question.

"So, Jeff Burton mentioned Ray Green. Isn't he the guy that took a swing on his team owner?" Lucas asked and Cooper nodded.

"Yeah, that team owner was my Dad. He couldn't get a sponsor to touch him after that. I found him about five years ago down in Florida. He was trying to drink all the scotch in South Beach!" Cooper said and they all laughed.

"Bourbon. It was bourbon," Ray Green said as he approached them. "If I knew what a pain in the ass you were gonna be, I would've finished the job," He said and Cooper laughed more.

"Ray, let me ask you a question. I mean, I'm not a real smart guy, but... if you're not in my car, then who is?" Cooper asked as his car pulled to a stop. The driver got out and was dressed in an all-red jumpsuit. Ray laughed as the person got out.

"Hey, Tony!" Ray called out. The driver took off their helmet to reveal long blonde hair flowing down their back. The girl turned around and smiled.

"No way," Nathan and Logan said together. They haven't seen Daytona in tears.

"It's still not right, Dad. Tight in, loose off," She said.

"Nate, Logan, you both remember my daughter, Daytona?" He said. The siblings nodded. When they were younger, Cooper used to bring them out to the track all the time and Ray always had Daytona and her little brother Garrett, who always had a huge crush on Logan.

"You got your braces off," Nathan said and Logan hit him on the arm.

"Nice conversation starter, genius," Logan said. Daytona laughed as he looked at them.

"You two are still the same," She said and Logan smiled. "But yeah, I got them off four years ago," She said as she smiled at them. "But it's good to see you both!" She said as she hugged Nathan, and then she hugged Logan. Logan smiled as she embraced her old friend.

"It's good to see you too."

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

"So, Daytona, how long has it been since you've seen Nate and Logan?" Lucas asked as they were all walking back to the pits. Daytona looked at the siblings and squinted her eyes, pretending that she was thinking about it.

"Well, I think the last time I saw them, Nathan was shorter than me and Logan was blonder than me," Daytona said. Logan laughed as she shook her head. She did add some brown highlights to her hair, but not a lot.

"By like half an inch," Nathan said and Logan laughed.

"And I did add in some brown over the years," Logan said as she shrugged. Daytona smiled as she looked at Nathan.

"Whatever, shorty," She said and Logan laughed.

"Hey, hey, we don't let visitors in here," Ray said as the group approached him and his son, Garrett. Daytona's little brother looked up and smiled when he saw Nathan and Logan.

"So, Lucas, this is my little brother, Garrett," Daytona introduced.

"Hey, I'm Lucas; Nathan and Logan's brother," Lucas introduced.

"Hey, so like... your Mom is Cooper's sister?" Garrett asked and Lucas shook his head.

"Oh, no. My mom slept with Cooper's sister's husband," Lucas said. The three siblings all shared a laugh. Garrett's eyes widened and then he shook his head.

"Okay, whatever that means. Sounds messed up," He said. Logan laughed and Garrett took a bite out of his sandwich as he walked away from them. Lucas laughed.

"It is," He said, but Garrett was already gone.

"So, you wanna hop in a car?" Ray asked Lucas. Logan smiled as she noticed that look in his eyes again, like a kid who just got exactly what they asked for during Christmas. When Lucas got in the car with Ray and Daytona, Nathan and Logan walked over to Garrett.

"Wow, man... we haven't seen you in forever," Nathan said.

"I know... you're almost as tall as Nathan now," Logan said.

"Yeah, I'm not a little kid anymore," Garrett said and then he turned to Nathan. "So, this means I can marry your sister now, right?" Garrett asked. The siblings laughed as Logan shook her head.

"Wrong. I don't think my boyfriend would like that very much," Logan said. Garrett shook his head.

"Boyfriend? Oh, don't tell me you're with that Roman guy," Garrett said. Nathan laughed, Logan fought to keep the smile off of her face as she shrugged.

"Okay, I won't tell you," Logan said. Garrett groaned loudly while shaking his head and Logan laughed.

"Okay, Nate... speaking of, how's your marriage thing going?" Garrett asked. Nathan's face immediately fell at the mention of Haley.

"Not so good," Nathan said.

"Oh man, that sucks," Garrett said.

"Yeah. Yeah... tell me about it," Nathan muttered.

"Oh, no, no... I mean, you're gonna be like... divorced before I even get a girl to date me," Garrett said. Logan immediately turned to him.

"Too far, Garrett," Logan said. Nathan remained silent as the car came back around. Lucas got out with a wide smile on his face and Cooper was approaching them.

"What do you think, Luke?" Cooper asked.

"This is awesome!" Lucas exclaimed. Cooper looked between the three siblings.

"You guys wanna drive 'em?" He asked. Logan asked as Lucas and Nathan's eyes widened with excitement. Logan doesn't know how to drive a race car, but she'd love to sit passenger.

"Are you serious?" Nathan asked.

"Yep. Take a crash course today. You learn about the cars, the track. Spend the night, you can race tomorrow. How about it?" Cooper asked. Logan looked at her brothers and nodded.

"I know you guys want to, so say yes," Logan said.

"Dude, I am so there!" Lucas immediately responded. Cooper laughed and then turned to Nathan.

"Nate?" He asked. Nathan looked over at his uncle and nodded.

"Hell yeah!" He exclaimed.

"Me too?" Garrett asked. Everyone immediately turned to him.

"No."

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

Daytona took the boys out to teach them how to drive, while Logan stayed with Cooper since she didn't plan on driving, just riding passenger. He told her that she would still have to wear a helmet and be fully suited for safety reasons, which she said was fine and she was excited for that. After the boys had their lesson, the siblings approached Daytona, who was sitting next to a tent and a bonfire while playing her guitar.

"Tell me you don't live in a tent all year round," Nathan said when they joined her.

"No, it's just nice to get out under the stars sometimes, and Garrett hates it, so that's a plus," Daytona said and Logan laughed.

"You gonna play something?" Logan asked as she gestured to her guitar.

"What do you wanna hear? NWA? Maybe a little Tupac?" She asked and Logan laughed more.

"Surprise us," Nathan said.

"Um... okay," She said. She took a moment to think of what to play and then once she got it, she started playing and singing. "Dancing where the stars go blue... Dancing where the evening fell...-" Logan immediately looked at Nathan, whose face had clouded over. He stood up and silently walked away. Daytona immediately stopped playing when she noticed. "What? It's Ryan Adams... did it suck that bad?" She asked. Lucas and Logan shook their heads.

"It's not that, trust me... It's a Haley thing," Logan said. Daytona frowned and nodded before putting her guitar down. Logan knows she didn't do it on purpose, it just sucks for Nathan.

"I just... I wish there was something I could do to help him," Daytona said.

"Yeah, us too," Logan said.

"What was he like when you guys were kids?" Lucas asked.

"He was... kind. Just a really sweet guy, and a good friend... pre-basketball," Daytona said. Logan laughed as she nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, pre-basketball Nathan was a great guy," Logan said.

"By the way, your marshmallow is on fire," Daytona said to Lucas as she pointed at it. Lucas' eyes widened as he pulled his marshmallow out of the fire and Logan laughed.

"Oh!"

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

The next morning, after Logan got all of her gear on, she went to find her Uncle Cooper while Nathan and Lucas were still getting ready. She was going to ride passenger with Lucas and she was excited. "So, how's my favorite niece doing?" Cooper asked. Logan shrugged as she looked at him.

"Ever since finding out your sister isn't my biological Mom, not great, Coop. I slipped up," Logan said.

"You mean...-" She cut him off.

"...-Yeah," She said as she nodded.

"How bad?" He asked.

"Bad enough," Logan said as she shook her head.

"Do your brothers know?" Cooper asked.

"They know I slipped up... they don't know the extent of the severity," Logan said. Cooper frowned as he wrapped an arm around her. Logan let out a deep breath. "I just don't know how to deal with any of this. I know it doesn't really change anything, Mom is still my Mom, and I like to think of me, Nate, and Luke as triplets but...-" Cooper cut in this time.

"...-It's still a lot to take in and get used to," He said and she nodded.

"Yeah," She said.

"Do you need to go back to the hospital? We can handle it discreetly while Nathan is at High Flyers," Cooper said. Logan's eyes watered as she leaned into her Uncle's embrace. Cooper was always there when she needed him. He was the only one who ever knew how severe her eating disorder was because she felt like she could talk to him more than anyone else. Cooper never judged or tried to cut in, they'd be on the phone for hours and he would let Logan vent for as long as she needed, and he always knew when she wanted advice for solutions versus when she just wanted to vent.

"I'm honestly not sure. I just don't want people to worry about me again," Logan said as she frowned. Cooper gently squeezed her shoulders.

"People are already worried, Lo... and speaking of, ease up on your Mom a little, okay? Can you do that for me?" Cooper asked. Logan frowned.

"I don't mean to be a bitch to her, but she kept a huge secret from me, and I don't know how to handle it, so I take it out on everyone except my brothers. I guess in my mind, we're the victims while everyone else wronged us... but I understand my Mom was a victim too... both of them. Dan threatened Karen to take me and threatened Mom to keep me," Logan said as she shook her head.

"Have you spoken to him?" Cooper asked.

"Barely. I don't have anything to say to him, not after what he did to us and most recently to Keith," Logan said as she shook her head. She saw the question in Cooper's eyes so she quickly explained to him the situation with Jules and Keith.

"Goodness, kiddo. I'm so sorry. Maybe I should come to town more often just to make sure you guys are alright," Cooper said. Logan shook her head.

"It's okay, Coop. We know you're busy," Logan said.

"I know it's hard, but all your Mom has ever wanted to do was protect you and Nathan from the man she married," Cooper said. Logan nodded as she looked at him.

"I realize that now, it's just sad... no child should need protection from their own father."

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

Later that day, everyone was dressed and ready in their protective gear, they just didn't have their helmets on yet. Lucas, Nathan, Cooper, and Daytona would be racing each other, and Logan was going to ride on the passenger side with Lucas. Ray was walking them through the racing procedure.

"Alright, four cars, three laps. You can all talk in an open frequency in your helmets. Now, if you get a little squirrely out there, just take your foot off the gas, downshift, and you either come into the pits or pull the car in the inside apron. There's a tack in your car that tells you the RPM, when it hits 6, you're up around 140 miles an hour. Nobody goes to 7, got it?" Ray said. No one said anything and he nodded. "Alright, Garrett will lead you out in the pace car. Garrett, don't wreck the pace car," He said. Garrett shifted his weight before laughing. "Okay, may the best win, and Logan, enjoy the ride," Ray said.

Everyone smiled as they put their helmets on and turned their mics on so they could all communicate with each other while they were on the track. Lucas nudged Nathan before he and Logan walked in the direction of the car Lucas would be racing. "Good luck, Nate," Lucas said. Nathan nodded and Logan smiled at her brother before they all got in their respective cars. Once Logan buckled herself in, she turned to Lucas.

"Okay, Luke... don't kill us," Logan said and she heard a chorus of everyone laughing.

"Should've rode with me, niece," Cooper said and Logan smiled.

"Next time, Coop," Logan responded.

"Gentleman!" Ray's voice came booming through the helmets. Logan noticed Daytona stuck her hand out of the window and started waving it.

"Helloo? Me and Lo!" She exclaimed.

"And beautiful ladies," Ray added and everyone laughed. "Start your engines," He said. Logan heard the chorus of all the cars starting around her, but theirs was the loudest in her ears. It was fun to watch Lucas. The only way Logan could describe him at this moment was being like a kid on Christmas who just opened their present and saw they got exactly what they wanted.

"This is stinking great!" Lucas exclaimed as they all started to file out. Garrett led them out in the pace car, and then Garrett moved off the track once they were all out and it was time to race.

"You sure you boys wanna be humiliated?" Cooper asked.

"Notice how he didn't say girl," Daytona said, and Logan laughed while Lucas was smiling as he started to speed up. Cooper and Daytona were in the lead, while Lucas was behind them and Nathan was last, for now.

"Ready guys?" Daytona asked.

"Oh, yeah!" Lucas exclaimed.

"Nathan?" She asked.

"Let's do this," His voice came through. The racers passed the green flag, which meant the race was really beginning. Logan watched as Daytona began to speed up. She was still at pace with Cooper, but now Nathan was starting to match pace with Lucas. Logan could see his car catching up to them. Then Nathan passed them and Lucas pushed down on the gas to go faster, but they were still trailing last.

"So, I was thinking, maybe I should just drive in reverse for a while, you know? Just to make it close," Cooper said. Logan laughed as she shook her head. Cooper is the professional driver here, so it makes sense that he's out ahead of all of them.

"We can't all be professional racers, Coop," Logan responded. Lucas, Cooper, and Daytona laughed, but Logan noticed that Nathan had been quiet this entire time, except for the one instance when Daytona directly asked him a question.

"So, what's going on back there in the slow part of the world?" Daytona asked. Everyone laughed, but Nathan was still quiet.

"Is that why Pokey left you?" Cooper teased and Logan frowned. She didn't think it was a good idea to tease Nathan about Haley while he was driving a race car at a high accelerated speed. "Alright, last lap, Nate. You better bring it. Ah... the low line is closed my friend, and the high side," Cooper said as he continued to block Nathan from passing him. Nathan found his way around and he zoomed past Lucas, Logan, and Daytona as well. "Oh, well, well, that was almost impressive, even for a man like you," Cooper said. Nathan had almost caught up to him.

"Looks like you got some competition out there, Cooper," Garrett said as Nathan passed Cooper, but of course, Cooper wasn't too far behind.

"Lock and load, Nate. He's yours," Logan said.

"You've got him, Nate," Lucas said.

"Go chick time, nephew," Cooper said as he continued to get extremely close to Nathan. "Nate, I love you, but I sure hope you brought a change of shorts," Cooper said as he quickly advanced on Nathan and bumped his car to the side. Logan watched as Nathan slightly lost his stride, but he quickly regained control and brought himself back into the race.

"Oh, no, Cooper, you did not just bump him," Daytona said. Cooper only laughed. "Rough as racing, Nathan!" Daytona said. Nathan fell back into the race with everyone, but now he was last.

"Looks like another chequered flag for me! Thank you very much," Cooper said as he crossed the finish line, then Daytona, then Lucas, and then Nathan crossed last.

"Good try, Nate. Nice run, guys," Daytona said.

"That was extremely exhilarating and I wasn't even driving," Logan said and everyone laughed.

"Tony, were you in second place or third from last?" Cooper asked. Daytona and Logan laughed while Logan also shook her head.

"Okay, bring it into the pits," Ray said. Everyone did as they were told. Lucas slowed down and came to a stop, as did everyone else. That was when they noticed that Nathan hadn't pulled in and he was still out on the track.

"Nathan, you not only missed your pit stall, you just broke half a dozen pit road rules," Ray said. They knew Nathan could hear him because they were all still wearing their helmets, but Nathan continued to drive.

"Nathan. That's the first victory lap I've ever seen for last place. I like it," Cooper said. But then they noticed Nathan started to go faster and Cooper's amused face immediately turned to worry. "Hey, Nate, you alright?" He asked. Logan immediately took off her helmet when Nathan didn't respond and she followed Cooper up to the podium. Garrett handed both of them a set of headphones and handed the mic to them.

"Nathan? What are you doing? Stop and come in, now," Logan said.

"Lo is right. Reduce your speed and come in, right now!" Cooper said more firmly. All the previous teasing in his tone was gone. He had no problem letting Lucas and Nathan race, but now Nathan was doing something that was extremely dangerous and he's not a trained professional.

"You know what I need, Coop? Some of that 200-mile therapy we were talking about," Nathan said. Logan watched as Cooper's features tightened up.

"Nathan," Cooper said.

"Nathan! You are not a professional driver like Cooper is. Slow down and come in. I'm serious, this isn't funny," Logan snapped at him.

"Nobody goes past 7 on the tack, right? Let's see about 8," Nathan said. Logan's eyes widened as she looked over at Cooper and then back at the track. Everyone could see that Nathan started getting faster, but now he was moving too fast. Logan knew that NASCAR drivers obviously drove at high speeds, but as she had said, Nathan wasn't a professional.

What he's doing is dangerous.

"Oh gosh, too fast!" Ray exclaimed.

"Nathan!" Cooper shouted. Logan could hear the anger in his tone.

"You're right, Coop. This feels pretty damn good," Nathan said. Logan wasn't sure what to do. Nobody knew what to do. They couldn't do anything until Nathan slowed down and came to the pit. Nathan continued to go faster and then Logan noticed the car started drifting in a different direction and Nathan couldn't get control back.

He slammed into the wall, hard.

Sparks started to fly from the car as Nathan's car scraped against the wall. Logan saw Nathan's hands on the wheel as he tried to steer the car away from the wall. The car turned and started to go backward, then it drifted sideways and hit the wall head-on.

"Nathan!" Logan screamed as she ripped the headphones off of her head and started running onto the track. "Nathan!" She yelled again as she started to run towards the car, but then she felt arms around her, stopping her and she knew it was Lucas. Lucas let her go as he and Cooper ran to the car as fire and smoke started to become more visible.

Lucas and Cooper pulled Nathan out of the car just in time before the fire mixed with the liquids from the engine and other parts of the car caused an explosion. Logan ran to her brothers and uncle as they laid Nathan on the ground. Nathan's nose was bleeding and he was unconscious. Logan laid her head down on his chest to see if she could hear or feel him breathing.

"Nathan! Nate... come on, don't do this to us," Logan whispered as she started sobbing. Lucas was holding back the tears in his eyes as he held Nathan against him. Cooper was on the phone calling for an ambulance and Logan gently grabbed her brother's hand as Lucas spoke.

"Come on. Hold on, Man. Hold on... Just hold on, Nathan."

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

"I've got severe respiratory distress; heart rate rapidly accelerating. Tachycardia," The doctor said as they rushed Nathan inside the hospital on a gurney. Logan, Lucas, and Cooper were following behind them. Nathan's eyes opened and he took in his surroundings but he was confused.

"You've been in an accident, son," The doctor said to him.

"Yeah, me, Lucas, and Coop. We're all right here, Nate," Logan said. Nathan looked at Lucas and his voice was hoarse as he spoke.

"Promise me," He croaked.

"Anything," Lucas said.

"Six units of blood!" The doctor exclaimed.

"Don't call Haley," Nathan said. He looked as serious as he could, considering how he was drifting in and out of consciousness. The doctors took him to the operating room as Lucas, Logan, and Cooper stood there.

Now they had to play the waiting game.

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

"Lucas! Logan!" The blonde immediately looked up when she heard her mother's voice. After Nathan was taken into surgery, Logan stepped out so she could call her Mom and tell her what happened. Lucas was still torn over Nathan asking him not to call Haley. On the one hand, she is his wife and she deserves to know that he's lying in the hospital, but on the other hand, Nathan did go see her and she told him that they rushed into things and she can't be the person Nathan needed her to be when all he wanted was for her to be his wife.

"Hi, Mom," Logan said as she stood up. Deb immediately pulled her daughter into a hug.

"Where's Nathan? How is he? Are you okay?" Deb asked as she looked over her. Logan nodded.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," Logan said as she brushed it off.

"Deb, I'm so sorry," Cooper said and Logan frowned.

"It's not your fault, Coop. You and Ray went through all the safety procedures and were very detailed. Nathan decided to go off course," Logan said. Cooper wrapped his arm around his niece and pulled her to his side as the doctor approached them.

"Mrs. Scott?" The doctor asked Deb and she nodded.

"Yes," She said.

"Your son has had severe blunt trauma to the chest and it was caused by a high-speed collision," The doctor said. Logan was still tucked under her uncle, and she grabbed his other hand and gently squeezed it. "His right lung has collapsed and he's losing a great deal of blood," He said.

"Is he in surgery?" Dan Scott asked.

"Well, we're prepping him, but the antigen in his blood, it's rare," The doctor said.

"I'm the same, I'll donate," Deb said and the doctor nodded.

"Good," He said. Once the two of them walked away. Dan looked at Cooper with a glare in his eyes as he approached and pointed a finger in his face.

"You better pray he's okay," Dan snapped. Logan was fed up. She let go of Cooper's hand, took a step forward and with all of her strength, shoved her Dad away from them. Dan's face recoiled as if she had slapped him when all she did was push him. She was so angry, that her push did cause him to stumble back.

"Back off!" She yelled at him and then cleared her throat when she remembered they were at a hospital. "It's not Cooper's fault, which you would know if you had been there, but you weren't. My brother is about to undergo surgery and could die, so don't come in here, throwing around accusations when you don't know what happened!" Logan snapped. Dan was still in disbelief that she had pushed him and he had no response to her words.

Cooper gently wrapped his arm around her, while Lucas also approached them. "Come on, Lo... let's go wait for your Mom to come back over here," Lucas said in a gentle voice. Logan nodded and allowed her brother and Uncle to lead her away from her Dad. She was so angry.

She needed Nathan to be okay.

⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎

yeah logan, tell him off. okay, the next chapter is the episode where nathan dreams his and lucas' lives are switched, so just a disclaimer before starting that chapter. since it is nathan's dream, logan will be his twin sister. dan didn't take her, he just chose karen over deb. in nathan's dream, logan is deb's biological daughter and his twin sister.
