2016 ― Tree Hill, North Carolina
Logan learned her Uncle Keith was dating a woman named Jules. She and Lucas were equally suspicious because they knew nothing about her. They didn't know who she was, where she came from, or why she was in Tree Hill, to begin with. Karen hired her at TRIC as a bartender per Keith's request. The twins went there after school. Lucas was sorting out the bottles, Jules was behind the bar, and Logan was sitting at the bar.
"So, since your mom hired me to work here, Keith helped me do a crash course on bartending last night," She said with a smile. Lucas laughed a little while Logan's face remained neutral. "Ask me anything," She said.
"What's in a Long Island iced tea?" Lucas asked as he leaned against the bar. Jules' frowned, which let Logan know she had no idea.
"Wouldn't you rather have a Screwdriver?" She asked. Lucas laughed and Logan shook her head. Jules' phone started ringing. It was sitting on the bar between Lucas and Logan. The twins looked at the phone to see who was calling and they were shocked by the name they saw.
Dan Scott
"What the hell?" Logan whispered under her breath but Lucas heard and he had the same sentiment.
"Can one of you toss me that?" She asked. Logan raised an eyebrow as she picked up Jules' phone and handed it to her. When Jules saw who was calling, her features tightened. She immediately knew Lucas and Logan saw and knew they were suspicious. When she walked away to answer the call, Logan turned to her brother.
"How the hell does she know Dan?"

The next morning before school, Logan picked up Lucas from his house, and then together they went to Jules' house. They wanted to ask her how she knew Dan and what their connection was, and they wanted to know what Keith had to do with it. Logan knocked on the door and after a few moments Jules opened it, she was surprised to see the twins this early.
"Lucas, Logan, hey! It's early," She said as she opened the door more. She had it cracked, but when she saw it was them, she opened it all the way.
"Yeah, we know, uh... can we talk to you?" Lucas asked.
"Sure, I was just about to meet Keith for breakfast, but as usual, I'm late. Let me grab my shoes," Jules said as she walked away from the door. The twins stepped inside, staying by the threshold. "Is everything okay?" She asked them.
"That's what we're here to ask you," Logan said.
"Is it about Lucas' mom?" She asked. Logan realized at that moment, that Keith hadn't told Jules about Logan and Lucas being twins. "Because Keith told me the whole story, and I feel like I'm honing in," She said. The twins shook their heads, Logan was ready to get to the point.
"How do you know my Dad?" Logan asked as Jules stood up after putting her shoes on. Jules feigned a look of confusion.
"Do I know a Dan?" Jules asked.
"I never said his name, I just said, my dad, so clearly you do. Dan Scott, Keith's brother. He called your phone yesterday at the club," Logan said. Jules' face paled as she realized Logan had caught her. She was stupid to say Dan's name when Logan hadn't.
"Oh, that Dan," Jules said.
"Weak recovery," Logan commented.
"Why did he call you?" Lucas asked before either of them could say anything else.
"I bought a car from him, and Dan had some follow-up questions about my credit references. What's going on?" She asked with a small frown on her face. Logan wasn't sure if she believed her.
"We're just looking out for Keith," Logan said.
"Keith is all grown up, Logan," Jules said. Logan kept her face neutral, but she didn't like how condescending that sounded.
"Right, can we just forget this?" Lucas asked.
"Forget what?" She asked. Lucas nodded, understanding what she was getting at. The two of them walked back to the door and Lucas turned around one last time.
"Thanks."

Logan was with her brother, Nathan, and her boyfriend, Roman, at the river court. They were playing a one-on-one game and of course, would not let Logan participate. Then Lucas ran out onto the court, clapped twice, and then held his hands open.
"Hey! Open up top!" Lucas said. Nathan looked at Lucas and shook his head with a smile on his face.
"See, I don't know CPR and even if I did, I wouldn't give you mouth-to-mouth, so try not to drop when I'm the only person around," Nathan said. Logan laughed as she got off the picnic table and approached the boys on the court.
"I know CPR, but still, don't drop here in front of us because I don't actually want to have to do it. Also, if I can't play and my heart condition isn't even close to as life-threatening as your potential one is, then you definitely can't play," Logan said.
"I'm getting the stupid test, give me the damn ball," Lucas said. Nathan shook his head.
"Forget it," Nathan said. There was a pause and Logan was unsure what was going to happen. Then Lucas charged at Nathan, ready to snatch the ball from him. Nathan threw it over his head to Roman, who caught it. When Lucas charged Roman, he threw the ball in the opposite direction as hard as he could and it landed in the river. Nathan and Roman shared a fist bump and then smirked at Lucas.
"Nice airball, Roman," Lucas said and they all laughed. "How about Playstation? Nobody ever croaked from that," Lucas said.
"That would involve me going home," Nathan said as he started messing with his wedding ring.
"Are you and Haley still fighting?" Roman asked and Nathan nodded.
"And her sister is here for a few days," Nathan said.
"Which one?" Lucas asked.
"Taylor," Logan said. She briefly met her and she likes her well enough. Logan has only been going to the apartment for bed. She knows Nathan and Haley have been having problems ever since the formal about how she lied about recording a song with Chris Keller, so Logan has been trying to give them space.
"Taylor?" Lucas asked as his eyes widened. "Dude, she's crazy," He said.
"Perfect! The thing is... when I saw her, I got that deja vu thing. Like, uh... Like I had seen her before," Nathan said. Lucas and Roman shrugged.
"I'm pretty sure she was a senior when we were freshmen, so you probably saw her around school. I vaguely remember her," Roman said and Lucas nodded.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen more of her than that," Nathan said as he sighed. "Two years ago, when they put me on Varsity from the freshman team... the seniors threw this kinda out-there party at my parents' beach house... Taylor was there," Nathan said. Lucas, Logan, and Roman all exchanged the same look.
"Oh, this is getting ugly," Roman said as he laughed. Nathan glared at his best friend, making him laugh harder, but he continued his story.
"Yeah, I was... pretty wasted and she was... she was kind of the first girl I ever had sex with," Nathan said. Logan, Lucas, and Roman all looked at each other and then fell into fits of laughter. "Great! Great, laugh it up. You know what? The only good news about this is that I don't think she remembers me," Nathan said and Logan laughed more.
"Oh wow, so you rocked her world, huh?" Logan teased. Nathan rolled his eyes, which made her, Roman, and Lucas start laughing harder. She could see how frustrated Nathan was getting but she couldn't help it.
"This is not funny!" He exclaimed.
"You're right, it's hilarious," Logan said as her laughter calmed down. Nathan paused for a moment, and then he rushed at his sister before she could react. He picked her up and slung her over his shoulder. Logan only laughed harder as she started hitting him on his back while he ran around the court.
"Whoa! Hey, hey! Arrhythmia patient here, remember?"

Lucas and Logan Scott made their way back to Jules' apartment. They went to the dealership to see if her story checked out and it didn't. She never bought a car from Dan, so now they know she lied to them, and they wanted the truth. If she didn't tell the truth, they were going to go to Keith. Because he deserved to know whatever Jules was involved with Dan for before getting into a serious relationship with her.
"What the hell happened to your face?" Logan asked as they approached the door. Lucas had been busy after school so they met each other at Jules' apartment, and Logan noticed that he had a cut on his forehead and saw some bruises forming.
"I broke up with Anna and Felix did not like that," Lucas said. Logan rolled her eyes. It was bad enough that Felix was doing whatever the hell he was doing with her best friend, but now he beat up her brother? She wanted to beat him up.
"Can they move back to wherever they came from? Goodness," Logan groaned as she knocked on Jules' door. After a few moments, she opened the door and was surprised to see them again.
"Hey, Jules," Logan said. She was thinking to herself, was Jules even this woman's name?
"Lucas, Logan... people are going to start talking if you two keep...-" Logan cut her off, she wasn't interested in whatever was about to come out of her mouth.
"...-You lied to us about how you know our father. We checked you out at the dealership," Logan said. The smile fell from Jules' face. She knew she was caught. She sighed as she opened the door wider.
"Come inside, okay?" She said.
When the twins walked inside, Jules closed the door behind them and they went into the dining room. They all sat down at the table. Lucas and Logan sat on one side of the table while Jules sat across from them. Logan leaned back in her chair as she looked at her.
"So, we know you paid cash for the car, meaning, there was no credit check," Lucas said. Jules sighed as she looked down at her hands before facing the twins.
"About two years ago, I was engaged to this guy... I was crazy about him; even after he hit me a few times. I thought it wasn't going to happen again... until he put me in the hospital for two weeks. He disappeared after that and... my welcome home present was finding out that I was over $150,000 in debt, with no way to pay the medical bills. I was beyond desperate, so I posted an ad on this website saying I'd do anything legal for money," Jules said.
"And Dan answered," Logan put the pieces together.
"Yeah. He said he'd help me out... he started paying my medical bills," Jules said. Lucas and Logan shared a look. They had a feeling about how Keith was involved in this.
"So, what did he ask you to do?" Lucas asked.
"Make Keith fall in love with me... then break his heart," Jules said. The twins looked at each other. Lucas looked defeated while Logan was pissed. She was ready to punch Jules, tell her to leave town, and never talk to Keith again.
"Anything legal for money, huh? And you never thought to ask why Dan would want to do something like this to his own brother?" Logan asked as she started laughing. She didn't think it was funny, but when Logan got very mad, she started laughing.
"I tried to tell Dan that I wasn't going to go through with it, but it's too late. I never thought I was going to fall in love with Keith, but I did," Jules said. Logan scoffed as she stood up from the table. "Lucas! Logan! You have to believe me. I love him!" Jules said. Logan rolled her eyes as she shook her head.
"Anybody who is willing to participate in Dan's schemes cannot be trusted."

Logan had a shift at the cafe and Roman came to sit, eat, and talk with her while she worked. She was behind the counter and he was sitting on one of the stools. She had brought him some water and told him what she and Lucas found out about Jules. "I knew I felt weirdly suspicious of her. And why the hell is Dan doing this to his own brother?" Roman asked.
"Who knows why Dan does anything? I'm so pissed, and I don't know what to do. I'm pissed at Dan, I'm pissed at her. I was so close to beating her ass," Logan said.
"You'll do the right thing," Roman said.
"What is the right thing, Ro? Do I tell Keith? Do I confront my dad and ask him what the hell is his problem? I know he's the spawn of Satan, but to do this to his own brother? Keith couldn't have done something that horrible to him," Logan said.
"You would think some people could never hurt their siblings, but... with as much hate as your dad has in his heart... it doesn't surprise me," Roman said.
"I don't know what changed in him. If a woman like Karen dated him, there had to be something good about him. Whatever that was, it's long gone by now. He wasn't always so horrible to Nathan and me when we were younger, he was a great Dad... then around middle school...-" Roman gently cut in.
"...-That's when he started turning into the man you know now?" Roman asked and she nodded.
"And I thought I saw a glimpse of the old him coming back after his heart attack. For a second I believed that maybe he did regret what he did to all of us. But doing this to Keith? It shows that he never changed, and he never will, so I should stop expecting it," Logan said as she shook her head.
Roman reached across the counter and laid his hand down on top of hers, gently rubbing his thumb across her knuckles and wrist. Then he propped his upper half onto the counter and gently kissed the middle of her palm. "You know that's my favorite thing about you, right?" He said.
"What is?" She asked.
"That even though your father is a horrible human being... you still want to see the good in him. You want the good to still be there," Roman said. Logan shrugged.
"He's still my Dad after all, but I'm not sure if that's the best or the worst part," Logan said. Roman smiled at her as he kissed her knuckles.
"Your Dad is the worst version of himself right now. The best thing he did with his life was have three amazing kids. One of which I'm glad to call my brother, the other my friend, and my favorite one, my girlfriend," Roman said. Logan playfully rolled her eyes, but she was still smiling.
"Corny... but cute. Bringing this conversation back to my uncle... what should I do?" Logan asked. Roman leaned up and gave her a quick but gentle kiss on the lips and then her cheek. Then he leaned up to her ear.
"The right thing, because that's who you are and what you do, Logan May Scott."

After having a talk, Lucas and Logan decided that they were going to tell Keith the truth about Jules because he deserved to know. He's with someone who was paid to be with him and then break his heart, and that wasn't okay with either of them. Lucas and Logan went to Keith's apartment and knocked on the door. A few moments passed before Keith opened it. When he saw it was Lucas and Logan, he had a wide smile on his face.
"I always hoped I'd see the day when the two of you show up at my door together," Keith said. Logan felt bad because they were about to wipe the smile from his face.
"Keith... uh, can we talk to you?" Logan asked and he nodded.
"Sure," He said as he opened the door wider to let them in. That's when they saw Jules sitting on the couch. The twins looked at each other and knew they couldn't say anything. "Come on in," Keith said.
"You know, uh... I know I kinda packed my stuff in a hurry to move in with Nate when the big thing came out... So I was wondering if I left my iPad here?" Logan asked. She hated how easily she could lie, and how convincing she could be on the spot.
"Yeah, we searched the apartment and my house, but we couldn't find it," Lucas said as he caught on. Keith shook his head as he quickly scanned his apartment.
"No, I haven't seen it," Keith said and Logan nodded.
"Right... maybe I left it at Josh's, I'll ask Roman," Logan said. She felt so awkward that she wanted to turn around and run. Jules hadn't taken her eyes off of them. As soon as she saw them, she knew what they were there to do.
"Oh, did you guys want to come in and hang out?" He asked. Logan looked at Lucas and he could see that her eyes were practically screaming 'no.' The twins turned to their Uncle and Lucas shook his head as his eyes slightly flickered to Jules.
"No, it's okay. You guys enjoy your night. We'll see you later."
