2015 ― Tree Hill, North Carolina
Logan Scott sat on the gym floor of Tree Hill High School, in her cheerleading uniform, to stretch out her legs before the game started. The boys were warming up on the court. Her best friends, Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer were standing in front of Logan as she was stretching.
"So, that's the boy who beat Nathan?" Brooke asked as she looked at Lucas.
"Yeah, that's Lucas... the other brother," Logan said from the ground. Her back was facing the court, Brooke and Peyton were in front of her and they were facing the court. Brooke looked down at her best friend before looking back up.
"Well, he looks good from behind," Brooke said and Logan rolled her eyes.
"Gross," She mumbled and Peyton laughed. Peyton helped Logan off the ground as the boys were starting to line up to start the game. Logan was excited that Lucas was playing in his first official game as a Raven, but she was also nervous for him... More scared for him than nervous.
She knew between Nathan, Roman, and Tim, Lucas wouldn't get many touches on the ball. She knew the three of them pretty much keep to themselves on offense, and use the other two players on the court for defense. Nathan and Roman are the highest scorers on the team, Nathan is just a few points ahead of Roman.
The two grew up playing basketball together since grade school, that's how they became so close. They played AAU together, which is club basketball. Nathan and Roman are the real package deal, Tim is just there because he hangs onto Nathan's every word and never contradicts him.
The ball got passed to Lucas, but he missed the catch. Logan and Peyton stepped apart as the ball came flying their way, out of bounds. Logan gave Lucas a sad smile while Peyton gave him a sarcastic look. "Nice hands," She said with no enthusiasm.
"Nice legs," Lucas shot back before running back onto the court. Peyton's eyes widened and Logan laughed at her reaction.
Lucas' night didn't get any better. Every time the ball was passed to him to score, he missed the shot. On the second shot he missed, Nathan got the rebound and scored. Logan frowned, she knew he was probably nervous. Whhitey ended up benching him for the rest of the game.
The Ravens went on to win.

Logan was waiting by the locker room after the game, she wanted to say something to Lucas. She wanted to tell him she was sorry about today's game and she knew he'd do better next time. She was feeling nervous. It would be the second time she's actually talked to him. When Lucas walked out of the locker room, he didn't see Logan right away because where she was standing on the wall was behind him.
"Lucas!" She called out after him. He stopped walking and turned around. When he noticed it was Logan who called him, he was a little surprised. He didn't move any closer, so she approached him. "I'm sorry... about how tonight went for you. I was really hoping that you would do well," Logan said. Lucas nodded as he looked at her.
"Yeah, me too... I'll see you around, Logan," He said as he walked away. Logan watched where he was going and she saw Keith and Haley waiting for him. Keith looked at his niece with a smile on his face when she walked to Lucas, and when she shrugged, he laughed.
"Logan May!" She heard Dan Scott's voice. Her eyes were still locked with Keith's and when she rolled her eyes, Keith laughed. She sighed and turned around to walk over to her father, who was standing on the court, waiting for Nathan to come out of the locker room.
"Yes, Dad, how may I help you?" Logan asked.
"Why were you talking to Lucas?" Dan asked.
"Because he's my brother and he had a crappy game, so I told him I was sorry he played like crap," Logan said as she shrugged.
"Don't call him that, and you shouldn't be talking to him," Dan snapped. Logan rolled her eyes.
"Dad, your immaturity is amazing. You're a grown man. You have another child besides me and Nathan, and the entire town knows it. The sooner you get over your denial, the easier it'll be. Lucas exists and he's not going anywhere," Logan said. She turned around to walk away, so she could go talk to Keith, but Dan grabbed her wrist, tightly.
"I'm not sure where this sudden disrespect is coming from, but if I tell you not to talk to Lucas, then don't talk to Lucas. I'm still your father, and you're still 17, so you have to listen to me," Dan hissed.
"Let go of me," Logan groaned as she tried to pull her wrist out of his grasp, but that only made his grip tighten and hurt more.
"Do you understand me, Logan?" Dan asked again.
"I said, let me go!" Logan shouted, hoping to get someone's attention. Keith Scott heard his niece yell and quickly made his way over to where he heard her voice. When he saw Dan was gripping her wrist, he looked at his little brother.
"Danny, this is your daughter. Let her go," Keith said. Dan stared at Keith, but he loosened his grip on Logan's wrist. When she felt his grip loosen, she snatched her arm away from him.
"Hey... if you didn't drive, I'll take you home," Logan heard from behind her. She turned around and saw Roman standing there. She hadn't even realized he approached. She knew Nathan was leaving with Peyton because Peyton drove both of them to the game. So she knew her only options were to leave with Keith, Roman, or her dad. But if she left with Keith, he'd eventually have to take her back home, and she had a feeling he was going to the cafe and she didn't want to intrude on Lucas and Karen.
"I don't want to go home... let's go somewhere else," Logan said to Roman. He nodded and gently placed his hand on the middle of Logan's back to lead her away from her Dad and Uncle.
"Is your wrist okay?" He asked. Logan looked down at her wrist and could see it was a little swollen in comparison to her other one.
"I think I'll need some ice... it's starting to swell," She said. Roman nodded and started to lead them to the athletic trainer's office.
"Come on," He said. As they walked, Lucas saw them passing and since he had seen what happened, he wanted to make sure Logan was okay.
"Logan!" Lucas called out for her. She stopped walking and made Roman stop as well and then turned around. "Are you okay?" Lucas asked. Logan nodded and smiled at him before following Roman out of the gym and down the hallway to the athletic trainer's office. It was where the guys took their ice baths and if any injuries happened during games, this was the room the athletes came to.
"Alright, go on and prop yourself up there," Roman said as he pointed to the exam table. There were about four in the office. Logan set her duffel bag on the ground and then hopped onto the table as Roman grabbed a plastic bag and walked over to the ice dispenser. Once he filled up the bag, he grabbed the wrap.
"What's the wrap for?" She asked.
"Well, you know you shouldn't put ice directly on the skin," He said and Logan nodded.
"Right," She said.
Roman set the bag of ice down on the exam table and stood between Logan's legs. She became very aware of how close Roman was to her, and she looked up. "Hold up your wrist, please?" He said. It took her a moment to register his words, but when she did, she lifted her wrist. Roman laughed a bit as he began to wrap her wrist.
He started the wrap on her wrist and Logan watched as his pattern of wrapping went between wrapping it around her hand between her thumb and index finger and back down her wrist. "Am I making you nervous, Lo? Being this close?" Roman teased and Logan rolled her eyes.
"In your dreams, Roman," She said and he laughed.
"You're right," He said. Logan rolled her eyes again, but the two of them started laughing together. Logan was almost surprised at how gentle he was as he wrapped her wrist because she knew Roman could be an aggressive person at times.
But she didn't blame him. His parents are divorced, and the divorce was messy. His mom has remarried and he has a stepdad, and his stepdad is a lot better than his father, but he still holds a lot of anger and hurt from what his father put him through. He also has an older brother named Joshua and a younger sister named June. Her middle name is June, and her first name is Catalina, but she prefers to be called June. She's a freshman, and cheers on the JV squad.
Since Roman and June are minors, they still have to follow court-ordered custody. They're with their dad three days a week and with their mom the other four. However, they only go to their dad's house when they're about to go to sleep. After school, on a day when they have to go to their dad's house, they go to Josh's apartment and spend time with him until it's time to go to bed.
Logan was so lost in her head, thinking about Roman's family situation that she didn't notice he was done wrapping her wrist, and she had just zoned out while staring at him. "What?" He asked. Logan cleared her throat as she snapped out of it. She leaned back to put some space between them, and then took the bag of ice Roman was holding.
"Thank you, Roman... seriously," She said and Roman smiled.
"No problem, Lo. You ready to go?" He asked and she nodded. "Alright, cmon."
⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎
Roman took Logan to get ice cream to cheer her up, and they sat in his car and talked for a little bit before he took her back home. Nathan had texted Logan and said he wasn't staying at Peyton's, he was coming home, so she told Roman it was safe to take her back home because Nathan would be there.
"Thanks, Ro... for everything you did tonight," She said as she opened the car door, stepped out, and then reached back in to get her duffel bag.
"Anytime, Lo. Goodnight," He said. Logan smiled before closing the door. Roman stayed parked in the driveway until he saw Logan unlock the front door and make it safely inside of her house, then he pulled off. When Logan walked inside, she could hear Dan and Nathan talking. He was watching the game film from tonight.
"I was double-teamed so I found the open man," Nathan said.
"Wrong. You gave up a scoring opportunity in the post," Dan said and Logan rolled her eyes.
"What? Dad, I was double-teamed and I scored 28 points," Nathan said, but Logan knew that wasn't going to be enough for Dan Scott.
"30 points would've looked better to the scouts, don't you think?" Dan said. He paused to acknowledge that his daughter was home. He looked at her wrapped wrist and then he turned back to Nathan. "Go to sleep. You look winded in the fourth quarter. We'll go for a run together in the morning," He said.
Nathan nodded and walked to the stairs, Logan followed behind him. "And he wonders why mom extends her business trips," She said and Nathan laughed as they made it up the stairs. Before they went to their separate rooms, he noticed her wrist and gently grabbed her arm.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Dad happened. He saw me talking to Lucas and flipped out," Logan said as she rolled her eyes.
"Where were you? I mean, just now... who were you with?" He asked.
"Roman... he saw what was happening with Dad. Uncle Keith walked over and got Dad to let me go and Roman offered to take me home, but my wrist was starting to swell, so he wrapped it for me and got me some ice," Logan said and Nathan frowned.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there," He said.
"I thought you left with Peyton already, what happened?" Logan asked. Nathan sighed but he didn't say anything, which let Logan know, he messed up. The two of them went into Nathan's room and sat on his bed. "What asshole thing did you say to her now?" She asked.
"I may have said that the two of us being together was outplayed... like her CDs... and then I may have thrown her CDs out of my car window and told her to walk home," Nathan said and Logan shook her head.
"You are the world's worst boyfriend, Nathan. I really hope you change how you treat girls, or you're going to be alone forever," Logan said as she stood from his bed and went to her room.
Then she called Peyton.

The next morning, Logan, Roman, Lucas, Nathan, and Peyton were all in their teacher Mr. Kelly's class, and they had been learning about Ernest Hemingway. "Early in his career, Hemingway was frustrated. He was a good writer who wanted to be great, and eventually, he discovered that less is more," Mr. Kelly said and then he turned to Logan. "Logan, describe Roman in one word," He said.
The class started to snicker, and Roman turned around to look at her, wondering what she was going to say. Before last night, there were a lot of things she could've come up with, but after the way, he helped her yesterday after her dad had hurt her, she didn't want to say anything snarky.
"Compassionate," She said. Roman smiled as the class started to make teasing noises about the two of them, a mixture of aww's, and kissing noises. Peyton nudged her best friend and Logan rolled her eyes, but she returned Roman's smile.
"Roman, care to respond to describe Logan with one word," Mr. Kelly said.
"I could, but it might not be appropriate," He said and Logan rolled her eyes. Just like that, all the traces of the Roman she spent last night with were gone, and the one she'd always known remained.
"Dude, still my sister," Nathan said.
"I'm just kidding. The real word I would use for Logan is fearless," Roman said. Logan was a bit caught off guard by that, because she didn't think she would ever describe herself as fearless, let alone someone else describing her that way. And she didn't expect it coming from Roman.
"Peyton, describe Lucas in one word," Mr. Kelly said.
"Choke," Peyton said. Logan's eyes widened as she looked at her best friend while everyone else started to snicker. Lucas turned around to look at Peyton and Logan could see the hurt in his eyes, which made her feel defensive. She turned to Peyton and hit her on the arm.
"What the hell was that!?" Logan snapped.
"Thank you. Lucas, care to respond and describe Peyton with one word?" Mr. Kelly asked.
"Lonely," Lucas said. The entire class broke out into a chorus of "ohs," and Peyton didn't look happy with Lucas' response, but Logan didn't feel bad. She thought describing Lucas as a choke after the game he had was cruel. Nathan raised his hand.
"Yes, Nathan?" Mr. Kelly asked.
"Please do not make this worse," Logan said.
"I can describe Lucas in one word," Nathan said as he and Lucas made eye contact. "Bastard,"
Logan's eyes widened at Nathan's words, and then Lucas jumped out of his chair and tackled Nathan out of his. Once he got Nathan on the ground, he started to hit him. Logan sat still-shocked in her chair while her brothers fought. Mr. Kelly and Roman rushed over to pull them apart and Mr. Kelly yelled.
"Knock it off!"

"You know, it's really too bad Lucas is poor and he can't play because he is fine," Brooke Davis said as she was in Peyton's room along with Logan. Peyton was sitting at the foot of her bed, while Logan and Brooke were lying down.
"Hey, I think it's really good you're fighting with my brother again," Logan said and Peyton raised an eyebrow.
"You do?" She asked.
"Oh yeah... every time you guys fight, you're more receptive to listening to Hozier," Logan said. Peyton rolled her eyes while extending her foot to kick Logan, making the blonde laugh.
"Hey, did you download Ariana Grande's new album, Dangerous Woman?" Brooke asked.
"Yes," Logan immediately responded.
"No," Peyton said.
"You know, Peyton... I know you're all Gwen Stefani, plaid skirt, I'm a badass, but we love you anyway and you know why? Because Friday night, when it's game time, there you are. One of us," Brooke said. Peyton shook her head.
"PS, Gwen Stefani is not a badass," Peyton said. She stopped drawing and looked at her two best friends. "Do you ever look past it?" She asked.
"Past what?" Brooke and Logan asked together.
"All of it. High school, basketball, and just... the whole popularity drama," Peyton said.
"All the time... I mean, we're juniors, so according to society, we're supposed to have some kind of idea of what we want to do by now, right? I have no idea what I'm passionate about, or even good at," Logan said and Peyton shook her head.
"Art... you're good at art too," Peyton said and Logan smiled.
"I think about the future sometimes and it scares me. But I think I'll go to college, join the right sorority, and marry a rich guy... unless I get fat," Brooke said. Peyton and Logan shared a look, and they knew they were thinking the same thing. Brooke could be shallow at times, and this was one of them.
The girls remained silent.

The next day at school, Mr. Kelly tried the Hemingway project again, but in his words, to "avoid a bar fight," he told their class to describe in one word what they want most in their lives right now. Logan was currently at home, lying on her bed, trying to think of what that one word for her was. As she thought about her life, and about her future, one word came to mind.
Direction.
She heard a knock on the door and looked up to see Roman standing in her doorway. "Nathan isn't here. He and my dad went out for a run," Logan said.
"I know, Nate let me in on their way out. I came to see you, can I come in?" Roman asked. Logan raised an eyebrow as she looked at him.
"Why?" Logan asked and Roman sighed, and then she noticed he winced.
"Logan, please... I'm not here to pick a fight," He said. Then Logan took a look at him. He looked winded, like he had just been in a fight, or he had just been running. Then she noticed he was holding onto his side, and pieced together that's probably why he winced. She immediately got up from her bed.
"Roman, are you okay? What happened?" Logan asked as she walked over to him. She helped bring him over to her bed and helped him sit down, but he winced again as he sat and Logan knelt in front of him.
"My dad... I went home to get mine and June's things for the game tonight. She left her duffel bag because she was rushing to get out of the house this morning... He was drunk," Roman said and Logan frowned. She knew his dad was another reason he put everything into basketball. He wants to go to college but knows his dad won't pay for him. His mom, stepdad, and brother combined do have the money to help, but he doesn't want to put the burden on him. He wants to get a scholarship so they don't have to worry about it.
"What did he do? Can you play tonight?" Logan asked.
"I have to. Do you have any ibuprofen? Or the extra strength acetaminophen?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I do," Logan said as she stood up and walked to her bathroom. She began to look through the cabinet behind the mirror. She had her medication. She has low iron, so she has to take iron supplements. She had her birth control. Logan wasn't a virgin, but she was taking birth control as a means to lighten her periods because the cramps and symptoms were killing her. And then she saw the 500mg extra strength acetaminophen she had because she always took it when she got cramps.
She grabbed the bottle and took it out to Roman. "Thank you," He said.
"I'll go downstairs and get you some water," She said and Roman shook his head.
"No need... I'm an expert at this by now," He said as he put two pills into his hands, and then put them into his mouth and swallowed them. There was still about four hours until the game. Logan removed her school stuff off of her bed and Roman had already taken off his shoes and she helped him lay down. Then she went to the other side of her bed and sat down next to him.
"Roman...-" He cut her off. He knew exactly what she was going to say.
"...-It's okay," He said.
"No, it's not! Shouldn't you be able to do something? Can't your mom go back to court and file for sole custody?" Logan asked.
"There's no point. My dad has more money coming in than she and Leo do. He would wipe her for everything they have. We're juniors, Lo. One year left," He said and Logan frowned.
"That doesn't mean it should be a horrible year. Senior year is supposed to be the best year of high school. Bittersweet, but still fun. There has to be something you can do," Logan said and he shook his head.
"There isn't," He said.
"There is one thing I can do," Logan said.
"Oh, yeah... What would that be?" Roman asked.
"Can I get you some ice?" She asked. Roman laughed a little as he shook his head. "I'm kidding, come here," She said. Roman reached his arms out for her and Logan allowed him to pull her down on top of him so she could hug him, but then he winced. "I'm sorry," She said.
"No, it's okay," He said as they released their hug and Logan sat up again. "Actually, I will take that ice," He said. Logan laughed as she stood up from her bed.
"You got it, dude," She said. Roman laughed as Logan left her room and went down to the kitchen. She grabbed one of their bigger Ziploc bags and filled it with crushed ice. When she went back upstairs, she noticed Roman inspecting his bruise, and she saw how it was purple-ish and blue. "Roman," She said. He quickly put his shirt down and reached out for the ice. Logan went to her bathroom and got a small towel to wrap it in. "No direct skin contact, remember?" She said. Roman smiled before lifting his shirt back up and putting the ice there.
"Do you mind if I lay down again?" He asked and Logan shook her head.
"Of course not," She said. Roman nodded and laid back against some of her pillows, while Logan went back to where she had been before, sitting next to him.
"Thank you, Lo," Roman said and she nodded. For a while, the two were there in silence, but it wasn't awkward. Logan thought she would feel weird about having Roman in her room, but there was something inside of her that liked him being here. There was a part of her that liked the fact that he came over to specifically see her, and she had him all to herself right now.
"Roman, can I ask you something?" She asked. Roman opened his eyes and looked over at her before nodding.
"Of course," He said.
"In class a few days ago... out of all the words you could've used to describe me. Why fearless?" She asked.
"You take tasks head-on, and you don't stop when they get too hard or when someone tries to stop you. You're trying to get to know Lucas even with opposition from Nathan and your Dad. You overcame an eating disorder, Lo. You are fearless," Roman said and Logan was surprised. She didn't think Roman observed those kinds of things about her.
"You really think that about me?" She asked.
"No. I know it about you, Lo. We've known each other since we were five. We've seen each other grow, and we've seen each other at our worsts and bests. You don't take crap from anyone, not even me," He said and Logan smiled.
"That's because you're an ass," She said and he laughed.
"It's part of my charm," He said. Logan rolled her eyes as she lay down on her bed, but kept herself facing him.
"What charm?" She asked and Roman gasped like he was fake offended.
"Okay, now you're going for blood," He teased and they both laughed. "But, I can be myself around you—asshole or not. You don't take mess from me, but you don't push me away either. Other girls are way too sensitive about the things I say," He said.
"Because they don't know you like I do," Logan said.
"That's true, and another reason why I say half the things I do say to you is that I know you can take them, and you'll give it right back to me," Roman said and she smiled.
"Damn right I will," She said. The two smiled at each other and then they fell into silence again. Roman was still laying on his back, so the ice could rest on his side. Logan was lying on her side, and facing him. She watched him as he watched her ceiling fan. She had it on low, so it wasn't rotating as fast. It was enough to keep the room cool, but not too cold.
"Lo?" Roman asked after a while.
"Yeah?" She responded.
"When you were at the hospital... did it feel like things were going to get better?" Roman asked. Logan sighed as she turned on her back to face the ceiling. She didn't like thinking about the eating disorder hospital a lot, but she knew why Roman was asking. He wanted perspective on his own situation of feeling like he may be at rock bottom, by listening to how Logan pulled herself out of her rock bottom.
"When I first got there, no. I knew I had a problem, but I didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel of how I was going to overcome it. I didn't trust myself to eat, but I knew I had to. It wasn't an easy process, but I got through it, but it's still an uphill battle every day," She said.
"But do you feel like things are better?" Roman asked.
"Compared to the beginning of summer, they definitely are... but it's still difficult," Logan said as she turned back to face him. "Basketball is your craft, the NBA is your dream. You can reach it, Roman. You will reach it," Logan said. Roman tilted his head to the side to look at her.
"What about you?" He asked.
"What about me?" She asked.
"Are you going to do what you've put your mind to?" He asked.
"I will, once I figure out what I want to do. You have basketball, I'm not sure what I have," Logan said as she shrugged.
"You have charisma. You're really good at art, you and Peyton are ridiculously talented. You could go to an arts school, or a performing arts school because I know you love the theatre," Roman said.
"I have considered those options," Logan said.
"You're a much better person than me, Lo...-" Logan cut him off.
"...-Roman," She said.
"You are. So if someone as good as you can look at someone like me and tell me that I can do anything I put my mind to, then you can go above and beyond anything you put your mind to. Don't let anybody tell you differently. Promise me," Roman said. Logan smiled as she nodded.
"I promise," She said.
"That's my girl."
⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎
Roman's words resonated with Logan, and before she changed her mind, she grabbed her box of letters that she had hidden, and she made her way to Lucas' house. This was one of the things she had started to put her mind to, and Keith had encouraged her to give him the letters. She got dressed for the game, threw her duffle bag in her car, along with the box of letters, and drove to Lucas' house before she changed her mind.
Keith told her there was the front door, on the main porch, but there was also a door in the back that leads directly to Lucas' room, and that's mainly the door his friend Haley uses when she comes to see him. Logan took a deep breath as she held the box of letters in her hands and she approached the door that led to Lucas' room.
"Okay, Lo... you can do this," She whispered to herself. She still had two hours left until the game and needed to be at the school in 30 minutes, so she was going to head over after she gave this to Lucas. She took another deep breath.
Then she knocked on the door.
Logan stood there for a moment, and she almost turned around and left because no one had come to the door. Right as she was about to turn around, she heard the door opening, so she stopped. But it wasn't Lucas who opened the door. It was his best friend Haley James.
"Logan?" She asked.
"Yeah, Haley, right? I've seen you in the tutoring center," Logan said. Haley nodded and Logan didn't quite like the way Haley was looking at her. Probably trying to see what her intentions were, which in a way, Logan got. Everyone knows how Nathan is, so they assume her to be the same way. She also thought that wasn't fair, she shouldn't be judged based on her brother's actions.
"What are you doing here?" Haley asked.
"Is Lucas here?" Logan asked.
"He might be... why?" Haley asked.
"Retract the claws, tutor girl. I just want to talk to him. He is my brother," Logan said and Haley laughed.
"Oh, so now you acknowledge that Lucas is your brother?" Haley asked and Logan rolled her eyes.
"I've always acknowledged that Lucas is my brother, I've never denied that. I'm not Dan or Nathan, even though that's what you're sitting here judging me by. You know nothing about how I feel or how I've felt for years, so you have no right to judge me by the actions and decisions of my father and brother because I am my own person," Logan snapped at her. Haley fell into silence because she didn't know what to say. The door opened further as Lucas stepped out. He heard what Logan had been saying to Haley, and wanted to know what was going on.
"What's going on?" Lucas asked as he looked between his best friend and his sister.
"Nothing... I was just leaving," Logan said as she turned around to leave the porch, but Lucas stepped fully outside and called out after her.
"Logan, wait!" He called out. Logan stopped and turned around to face him. Lucas looked at Haley and she went back inside, and he gestured for Logan to come back to the porch.
"Yeah?" She asked.
"What brought you by?" He asked and then he noticed the box tucked underneath her arm. "What's that?" He asked. Logan took a deep breath.
"They're for you, Lucas. They're letters that I've written to you since our freshman year. Keith knew about them... All the unsigned birthday and Christmas cards were from me. I've always acknowledged you as my brother, Lucas... and I've always wanted to get to know you. I just hope these letters can show you that," She said as she held the box out. "Keith thought it would be a good idea for me to give you these, and I came to the realization that I can't hold onto them forever, and you deserved to know where everything was coming from. Keith told me you were thinking about walking away from the game... I wouldn't blame you if you do, but it was nice to cheer for you, even if it was only one game," Logan said.
Lucas slowly took the box from her as she was still holding it out and he thought about everything she had just said. He kept all of her birthday and Christmas cards that she sent, unsigned. Lucas had always thought in the back of his mind that maybe she was the one sending them, but then shook the thought out of his head, convincing himself that Logan didn't care about him, but now he knew that wasn't true.
"Logan," He said when she started to turn around. She stopped and turned back around to fix him. "Thank you... for these and the other cards," Lucas said. Logan smiled as she nodded and then she went to her car. When she got inside her car, she let out a deep breath and smiled to herself.
"Good job, Lo. You did it."
