2015 ― Tree Hill, North Carolina
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Tree Hill Raven's basketball, brought to you by the webcast at Ravenshoops.com. I'm Mouth McFadden and the playoffs are finally here, so throw out the perfect record, if the Ravens lose this one, the season is over."
"Just moments away from the beginning of this playoff game. Winners advance. To the losers, well, their season is over. Dan Scott is standing in for coach Whitey Durham, who is out with an illness. Not sure who signed off on that one, but let's hope Coach Durham gets better soon." Mouth commentated over the game.
"You alright?" Lucas Scott asked his brother. He, Nathan, Roman, Tim, and Jake were on the court since the game was getting ready to start. Nathan searched the crowd for Haley, while Roman searched the sidelines because he didn't see Logan with the cheerleaders.
"Have you seen Haley?" Nathan asked and Lucas shook his head.
"No," He said.
"Nate, did you and Lo leave together?" Roman asked.
"Yeah, is she not with the cheerleaders?" Nathan asked as he looked over and he didn't see Logan there. Now he was worried about two people.
Logan had been in the locker room. She told Peyton she needed a minute to calm herself down after everything. Peyton understood and gave her the space she needed, but what she really did was scarf down a few packs of donuts she bought herself and then made herself throw them up afterward. She brought both of her toothbrushes and used her main toothbrush to brush her teeth and then she popped minty gum in her mouth.
When she was finished, she grabbed her pom-poms and walked into the gym, joining the cheerleaders on the sidelines, taking her position between Brooke and Peyton. "You okay?" Peyton whispered to her and Logan nodded.
"No, I needed a minute before I had to see Dan Scott coach for four quarters," Logan said.
"What happened, Lo?" Peyton asked.
"I had a conversation with him a few days ago," Logan said as she continued to stare straight ahead at the court. Peyton nodded, knowing that wasn't a conversation for them to have right now. Roman caught Logan's eyes and she winked at her boyfriend which made him smile.
"So the Ravens take the floor and we're all set to go."

a few days ago
Logan Scott stood outside of the Scott family beach house, finally ready to confront her father about everything. She continually told herself to stay calm, and not to get too angry or lose herself in her emotions. But she also told herself to not let him manipulate the situation. She just wanted to say what she had to say and leave. After taking a few deep breaths to regulate herself, she knocked on the door.
The door opened a few moments later, and Dan Scott smiled when he saw his daughter. "Logan, I didn't know you were coming by today," He said. Logan rolled her eyes as she walked through the door, knocking him on the shoulder as she did and Dan laughed. "Nice to see you too, sweetheart," He said.
"Don't give me that crap, Dad. Why did you do it?" Logan asked. She wasn't going to make small talk, she didn't care about how his day was going, she just wanted the truth.
"What are you...-" She cut him off.
"...-No. Stop. You do not get to stand here and lie to me or try to change the subject. The cat is out of the bag, everyone knows what happened, so how about you tell the truth for once in your goddamn life!" She snapped and then she took another deep breath to calm herself down. Dan let out a deep breath, knowing he wasn't going to be able to avoid it.
"Logan, have a seat," He said and she shook her head.
"I'm fine standing," She said.
"I don't expect you to understand the choices that I made back then," He said. Logan scoffed as she rolled her eyes.
"Let's see, you threatened Karen and took me, and then you threatened Mom and said you would take me and Nathan if she tried to give me back to Karen... yeah, you're right, I don't understand how you could do that to two women you claimed to love," Logan said.
"Before your Mom told me that she was pregnant, I was about to drop out of college and leave her. I told her that it was because of my knee injury, but the truth was... I was leaving her to go back to Karen because, at the time, she was pregnant with you and Lucas," Dan said and Logan's eyes widened.
"What?" Logan asked.
"So, when I told your mother I was leaving because of a knee injury, that's when she told me that she was pregnant. She didn't know I was leaving to go back to Karen," Dan said.
"So why did you take me?" Logan asked.
"Your mother knew that I would do right by her and Nathan and I did... but since I was coming back for you, Karen, and Lucas... I still wanted to have you," Dan said and Logan shook her head.
"That doesn't mean kidnap me! You could've told Mom the truth, that Karen was pregnant and you wanted to be involved in our lives. You could've told Karen the truth and worked out some type of custody agreement!" Logan exclaimed.
"That is why I asked Karen for joint custody," Dan said.
"After you had already threatened her with court in order to take me from her," Logan said. Dan sighed as he looked at her.
"I know what I did wasn't right, but the night you and Lucas were born, I drove all night to get to the hospital... and when I got there, what did I see? Karen was holding one of you and Keith was holding the other, and I don't know, something in me just snapped," Dan said.
"You don't get to make Keith the bad guy," Logan said as she shook her head. She could tell her father was telling the truth.
"I'm not. I know you're close with your Uncle and I'm glad about that. You wanted me to tell you the truth and I am. I was 18 years old, drove all night from college to see you be born and when I got there, I saw my brother, who I knew always had feelings for my girlfriend, holding one of you. Can you imagine for a second how that would make me feel?" Dan asked. Logan sighed as she thought about it and she could imagine how it made him feel.
To know your brother always had feelings for your girlfriend, and then you see him holding one of your kids after you drove all night to see them be born, but that didn't excuse anything he did.
"Then why did you spend mine and Nathan's entire lives trying to make us hate Lucas and not acknowledge him as our brother? Because you were mad at Karen for not giving you joint custody? You technically kidnapped me from her. She had every right to tell you no," Logan said.
"I know that," Dan said.
"And to threaten, Mom... to threaten to take me and Nathan away from her because she tried to do the right thing and give me back to Karen? Nothing you say will ever make what you did okay, and it won't change how I feel. And it's sad because you shouldn't love and hate your parent with equal measure, but that's how I feel when I look at you. You're my father, so of course, I love you. But I also hate you for the exact same reason," She said as she shook her head.
"Logan...-" She cut him off and started to walk to the door.
"...-Thanks for telling me the truth, Dad. I'll see you around," She said before she left the beach house. When she got into her car, she started crying once again as she drove away, and as she drove, she had no particular destination in mind.
She just kept going.

the game
"Here we go, Ravens fans, the playoffs are underway. Ravens control the tip. Nathan Scott brings it up court to the pride of his hometown crowd. I'll tell you, there's a lot of love in the air tonight."
Logan was glad to see that her two best friends Peyton Sawyer and Brooke Davis were good with each other again. After what happened with Lucas, she hated that they were fighting and she felt caught in the middle of them.
"Early in the second quarter, this Masonboro team, big underdogs are giving the Ravens all they can handle. It could be the time away, or maybe Dan Scott's influence, but whatever the reason, the players have dug themselves into a hole and they're looking at a long road back."
"The Ravens grab the rebound and push it up court. Roman Castillo passes to Lucas Scott, over to Nathan Scott for the slam! I see the Ravens are finally working together."
"Go Ravens!" Logan and Peyton said at the same time and then the girls shared a smile. She knew she was going to tell Peyton about her conversation with her Dad, but she wanted to talk to her brothers about it first since he told her the truth about everything that happened.
Logan felt bad. After her talk with Dan, she ghosted everyone for a couple of days, except Nathan, since they live together. But she didn't answer anybody's calls or texts. Their game was the first time that anybody besides Nathan and Roman had seen or heard from Logan since her talk with Dan. And the only reason she talked to Roman was because he came and found her.
"Coming up on halftime and the Ravens continue the lead. Lucas Scott with the ball that leads to Roman. Caw! The birds have taken flight. They look a lot sharper now, but something tells me, Masonboro isn't going away."
Logan cheered for her boyfriend when he made the shot. Roman locked eyes with her on the sideline and winked, which she returned with a smile. She was just happy that he wasn't mad at her for ghosting him for a couple of days. She felt horrible about doing it, but when he found her and got her to open up, she felt like the worst girlfriend ever.

earlier that day
"Have I really been failing that badly as your boyfriend?" Roman Castillo asked when he walked onto the Rivercourt and saw Logan lying down in the middle of the court. She had on her cheerleading uniform and warm-up pants. Her eyes were closed, her jacket was underneath her head as a pillow and she was basking in the sun. When she heard her boyfriend's voice, she opened her eyes, but she didn't sit up.
"You're not failing, I am. I'm sorry, Ro. I've just been out of whack for the last few days," Logan said. She patted the ground next to her and spread her jacket out so Roman could lie down next to her, which he did.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"I talked to my Dad and he told me the truth... about everything," She said. Roman was quiet for a few moments because he knew how rare it was for Dan to tell the full truth. Dan normally operated under telling parts of the truth, the parts he wanted you to know. The parts that would make him look good, but to tell the entire truth? That was rare.
"Are you okay?" Roman asked, but he felt like that was a dumb question. Of course, Logan wasn't okay, but he didn't know what else to ask. He would never force Logan to talk about anything she didn't want to talk about, but he also wanted her to feel safe enough to open up to him.
"No... I'm second-guessing everything. My entire life, my relationships with everyone. I don't know if this is it. Is what my father told me the last of it? Or is there more that I don't know? If there is more, do I even want to know?" She said.
Roman turned on his side to look at the side profile of his girlfriend since she was still lying on her back. He noticed that her facial features were sunken, but he also noticed that her cheek, the one he was looking at, was puffy. So, he did not doubt that the other one was too.
"Have you been purging more?" He asked and Logan sighed, knowing that she wouldn't be able to hide that fact because she had. She didn't the day she talked to her father, but she did the day after. She stayed silent and she turned on her side, facing away from Roman and he frowned. He moved closer to her, wrapped his arm around her, and rested his chin down on her shoulder.
"Don't do that... Lo, don't be embarrassed or ashamed. Not ever, but especially not with me. Look at me." Roman said, and the blonde shook her head because she did feel embarrassed. She hated that she was slipping back into who she used to be and letting her destructive habits take over again.
Roman lifted his chin from her shoulder and leaned over and kissed her on her temple since that's what he could see and then he laid back down but laid on his side. Even though her back was to him, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. He wasn't going to force her to talk, but he couldn't lay there and do nothing.
Logan laid her hands down on top of his hands that were now wrapped around her, and the tears silently fell from her eyes, and she was thinking that she didn't deserve Roman. She used to think he was such an asshole, but like Nathan, he's grown a lot and she loved being his girlfriend. Even though everyone else saw this coming before she did. She turned back on her other side, so that she was facing Roman, and his arms were now wrapped around her and resting on her back.
Logan laid her head down on his shoulder and closed her eyes as she continued to cry. When Roman could hear her soft cries, he kissed the top of her head and pulled her in closer and he let her cry. They still had about 2 hours before the game, and Roman knew that Dan would probably yell at him for being late, but he didn't care, his girlfriend needed him.
And that was more important than the game.

the game
"The Ravens lead a close one by two as we come up on halftime. Tim Smith gives it to Roman who dribbles out top. Luke breaks free on the wing, puts up a three-pointer, release rotation, splash! Ravens lead it by five. Time for the score at halftime. Ravens 39, Bears 34. This webcast at ravenshoops.com."
As the players were walking back to their separate locker rooms for halftime, one of the players from Masonboro walked past Lucas and purposely knocked him hard in his bad shoulder as they went to the locker room. "Wow. Masonboro just hit Lucas with a cheap shot!"
Nathan Scott immediately jumped to defend his brother and pushed the player who had knocked Lucas' shoulder. Soon, both teams were in the middle of the court, pushing and shoving each other. "Nathan comes to his defense and things are getting ugly as the refs hurry back to the floor and try and break up the brawl. Lucas Scott is still down, protecting his bad shoulder."
When Logan saw her brother down on the ground, holding his shoulder, his face wrenched up in pain, she immediately ran onto the court. She held him off the ground and wrapped her arm around his torso, letting him rest his arm around her shoulders. "Come on, let's get you to the locker room," She said. Lucas nodded and the pair walked back to the locker room and she frowned after she helped him sit down. "You can't play the second half," She said and Lucas quickly shook his head.
"Lo, I have to...-" She cut him off.
"...-No, Lucas. You're already hurt, but if you go back out there and play... you might do permanent damage to your arm," Logan said.
"I can't let my teammates down... not like Dan did," Lucas said. Logan raised an eyebrow, wondering what he was talking about.
"What do you mean?" Logan asked.
"When he was in high school, during the state championship. Ravens were up. Whitey wanted to stall until the end so they would win, but Dan didn't like that. He sat on the bench and refused to go back in the game, and that's where the made-up story of Whitey benching him came from," Lucas said. Logan scoffed as she shook her head. Of course, Dan lied about what happened to make himself look better.
"He was so selfish... and he still is," She said and then she sighed. "But Luke, you have a legitimate injury. You sitting out the second half is nowhere near the same as what Dan did," Logan said as she shook her head.
"I will play through the pain if I have to. I can't let Nathan, Roman, or the other guys down," Lucas said. Logan sighed as she knew she wasn't going to be able to convince him. She nodded as she gently squeezed his good shoulder.
"Just please be careful."

"Reverse layup by the Ravens for another two. Roman Castillo, Nathan, and Lucas Scott have taken over, keeping the Ravens in close, but it may be too little too late as Masonboro leads it by five, time running out in the fourth."
"No going back now, folks. This is it. Down by two, less than a minute on the clock. The Ravens need a stop,"
Nathan, Lucas, and Roman were all near each other on the court and they looked at each other. "You got anything left in that shoulder?" Nathan asked.
"A little bit," Lucas responded.
"Well, come on. Let's take this thing," Roman said to the brothers.
"Masonboro inbound, full-court pressure by the Ravens with under 20 seconds. Dan Scott calls for no fouls. Time is running out and he wants the birds to make a play. At half-court, Roman Castillo pokes the ball free. Nathan Scott gabs it and a timeout. A sensational steal!"
"The Ravens have it, down by 2 with 12 seconds left in the game."
"The Ravens break the huddle with 12 seconds left on the clock. They need a basket to tie, a three-pointer to win or their season is over. The standing-room crowd is on their feet. Lucas Scott will throw it in. He does safely. He finds Roman Castillo who immediately swings it to Nathan Scott."
"We're at 8 seconds... now 7. Nathan works out top... 5 seconds on the clock. Now 4, he spins to the basket. Then passes to Luke for a three-pointer and the win!"
The crowd fell silent as they watched the ball pass from Lucas' hands to the air toward the basket. The cheerleaders stood silent, their arms linked together as they watched to see if they would advance to the next round of the playoffs. The ball hit the rim and fell to the ground.
Right as the buzzer went off.
Lucas Scott sank to his knees in disappointment as the Masonboro team and fans went into an uproar of celebration for knocking the undefeated Ravens out of the tournament. The Ravens started to go back to the locker room, but Lucas was still on his knees behind the three-point line. Roman walked past his friend and held his fist out to him. When Lucas noticed it, he looked up and knocked his fist against Roman's and they nodded.
"No regrets," Roman said. That's what he, Lucas, and Nathan had been saying to each other as they were getting ready for the playoffs together. They would go in, play their hearts out in every game, and leave no regrets on the court.
After Roman went back to the locker room, Nathan walked past his brother and put a comforting hand on his good shoulder before continuing into the locker room. Nathan wasn't mad Lucas missed the shot, he had been hoping he would. Nathan knew he could've made the layup to tie the game and send them into overtime, but Dan put Lucas in the game when everyone knew he shouldn't have. Nathan told him that he shouldn't. So he purposely sent the ball to Luke and hoped he missed to prove his point to Dan.
Ravens basketball was officially over until senior year.

Nathan and Logan Scott stood on the River Court together as they waited for their brother, Lucas. Nathan heard from Haley that Lucas was leaving town with Keith, and Haley said Logan didn't know yet, so she came to the court with Nathan. She also knew that Nathan and Haley were planning on getting married and that Haley would be moving into the apartment with them. Logan was going to attend their beach wedding with Haley's parents and Roman. She was glad that Nathan invited her to be part of it.
She told him that she would move out and see if she could stay with Karen. Since Lucas was leaving with Keith, she knew Karen would be missing him and wanted to be around for her. Nathan said Logan didn't have to move out because the apartment is as much hers as it is his, but Logan said he and Haley will be married and they need their space. She said once the lease is up, Nathan can renew it with Haley's name on it instead of hers and she'll go live with Karen.
"I told you if you missed that shot it was all for nothing. I was wrong," Nathan said as Lucas approached them. Logan smiled. She loved that the two of them got along now.
"Nathan figured we'd find you here. Word is you're leaving town with Uncle Keith," Logan said.
"Yeah... I'm just meeting the guys to say goodbye," Lucas said and Logan frowned. She didn't want Lucas to leave, and she didn't want Keith to leave either.
"You leaving because of the game?" Nathan asked and Lucas shook his head.
"Nah... Keith needs to be with someone right now. I need a change. I figured since the season is over, it's time. Plus, I know that I'm leaving Haley and Lo in good hands," Lucas said as he laughed.
"Hey, Logan has always been in good hands with me," Nathan said.
"I know that. I meant Roman," Lucas teased. The three of them laughed while Logan rolled her eyes.
"Well... I have to tell you, man. I never thought, when we played that one-on-one game, that I'd end up back here feeling like this," Nathan said and Lucas raised an eyebrow.
"Like what?" Lucas asked.
"Like I'm going to miss you. You've got to do what you feel. I actually wish you weren't going to leave because you're one hell of a basketball player, and because you're my brother," Nathan said. Logan's eyes widened and she couldn't help it. She threw her arms around both of her brothers and pulled them into a hug. The boys were caught off guard, but they hugged their sister back. "What's this for?" Nathan asked.
"Because for the first time in 17 years... You finally acknowledged Lucas as your brother," Logan said as she smiled at them when she pulled away. Her brothers smiled at her and then at each other.
"Take care of yourself, man," Nathan said as he and Lucas slapped hands together and then hugged.
"You take care of Haley... and our sister. I'll miss you too, little brother," Lucas teased. Nathan laughed before turning to Logan.
"I'll wait for you in the car," He said. Logan nodded and Nathan walked off, leaving the twins alone. Logan wrapped her arms around Lucas again and gave him another hug.
"Take care of our Uncle, okay? I hate that you're both leaving. Keith is the one I always tell gossip to," Logan said and Lucas laughed while shaking his head.
"I promise... you take care of our little brother," Lucas said as they pulled away and Logan rolled her eyes.
"Too soon, but I always have," She said and Lucas laughed.
"Is it too soon to say take care of our mom for me?" Lucas asked. Logan shook her head as she smiled at him.
"I promise."
