13 | Weekend Classic
2015 ― Tree Hill, North Carolina
Logan Scott was very happy to be getting away for the weekend.
After everything she found out, she was welcoming the annual Classic as a reprieve. She couldn't wait to lose herself in cheerleading. She was currently at school, and Brooke was having the girls run a practice outside. During the week leading up to the Classics, Logan never takes anything Brooke says to heart. She always gets a bit strung out.
"Okay Theresa, terrible posture. Pinch that penny. Bevin, you need... a breath mint. Logan, you need to show everyone how this is done because it's not hard. Peyton, nice form and excellent betrayal of a best friend," Brooke said. Peyton and Logan exchanged a look as Brooke continued to go down the cheerleading line. "Wrong, wrong, wrong. You guys, this weekend is the Classic! It's our biggest cheer competition. Aren't you sick of Claire Young and the Bear Creek Warriors taking home the trophy every year? Because I am. We need to get it together, and I'm not just talking about our routine. I'm talking hair, nails, underarms... Theresa," Brooke snapped.
"Brooke, cheerleading is supposed to be fun," Bevin said.
"Yeah, well winning is funner. And if you don't like it, you can go cheer for the wrestling team. Take five," Brooke snapped. All the girls dispersed and grabbed their water bottles. Logan shook her head and approached her best friend.
"You know, the grammatically correct term is more fun," Logan said. Brooke gave her a look and Logan smiled. Then Peyton approached.
"Okay, you know what? You hate me, I get it, it's fine. Just don't take it out on our squad," Peyton said. Brooke rolled her eyes.
"Everything is not about you, Peyton. Did you ever think that maybe I'm being a psycho-hoe-beast because I want us to do well this weekend? Those judges are not going to be as forgiving as I am," Brooke said.
"Funny, I didn't know you were forgiving at all," Peyton said as she walked away. Brooke scoffed and then looked at Logan as if she were waiting for her to say something.
"I'm not in this," Logan said as she walked away. She went to one of the tables, sat down, and took a deep breath. She reached into her duffel bag and pulled out her water bottle, and she also pulled out a kit-kat she brought on the way to school that morning. It was already half-eaten and Logan sighed as she looked at it.
"Hey, Lo. You doing okay?" Logan quickly dropped the wrapped candy back into her bag and looked up to see Nathan and Haley standing over her. Logan took a deep breath and shrugged.
"I'm sure you guys can guess how I'm doing," Logan said.
"Have you talked to Karen?" Haley asked.
"No. I don't even know how to talk to her. What, do I just walk into the cafe and say, 'Oh hey, Karen, by the way, I know you're my biological Mom. Can I have some coffee? Thanks.' I don't think so," Logan said and Nathan frowned.
"You're overthinking this, Lo. Give her the chance to be your Mom. With what our Mom put us through and how we see Lucas turned out... how bad can she be?" Nathan asked and Haley nodded in agreement.
"And I'm sure Karen would love to get to know you more as well," Haley said and Logan frowned.
"Our whole lives, sometimes I've wished that I was Lucas' twin so that I wouldn't have to deal with Dan... and now that I know I really am Lucas' twin. It just makes me feel like it's unfair to you in some way," Logan said as she looked at her brother. Nathan shook his head and grabbed her hand.
"No, it's not. Sometimes, I wished I was Luke's twin to get away from Dan too. But if either of you ever tell him that I said that, I'll deny it," Nathan said. Logan and Haley laughed while Logan shook her head.
"Your secret is safe with me," Logan said.
"Listen to me, Lo. This doesn't change anything. You're still my sister. I don't love you any less than I did before we found out," Nathan said.
"I love you too, Nathan, but think about it. If Dan never took me and we were raised the way we're supposed to be... would you still feel that way? Would you have treated me the same way you treated Lucas?" Logan asked. Nathan frowned and Haley frowned too, thinking about the alternative.
"I would like to say no, I wouldn't have treated you like that because I can't imagine ever treating you like that... but realistically, I'm not sure," Logan said.
"Or, instead of going for Haley to mess with Lucas, would you have tried to form some 'brother-sister' relationship with me instead?" Logan asked.
"That's actually a good question," Haley said and then she shook her head. "Sorry, thinking out loud," She said. Logan smiled at her and Nathan sighed.
"I'd like to think I'd do the second one instead of just flat-out being an asshole to you," Nathan said and Logan laughed.
"I guess that's fair," Logan said.
"Break's over girls!" Brooke called out. Logan sighed as she looked at Nathan and Haley.
"Duty calls... I'll see you guys later," Logan said. She kissed Nathan on his cheek and gave Haley a hug, and then they went their separate directions. Logan walked back over to the squad and the girls were complaining.
"You said five minutes," One girl said.
"Yeah, well. Cry me a river. Let's go."

Logan found out that Karen was a chaperone at the Classic this weekend. She figured that would be as good a time as any to talk to her, so she figured she would. Everyone was pulling up to the school, and Logan was either going to ride with Brooke or be giving rides. The cheerleaders drive separately because there's not enough room for them, the basketball players, and the girls' equipment on the bus.
"Well, I just don't want you to think I'm trailing you like some paranoid mother," Karen said to Lucas. He laughed.
"But you are," Lucas said and Karen laughed. Brooke walked past Lucas, and Lucas said hi to her, but Brooke said nothing and continued walking.
"Silent treatment," Karen noted.
"Like a mime," Lucas said and then he noticed Logan approaching. "Hey, Logan," He said and Logan smiled at them.
"Hey," She said, and then she turned to Karen. "Hey, Karen... I heard you're chaperoning this weekend, so I was wondering if we could find a moment to talk?" Logan asked. Karen nodded as she smiled at her.
"Of course, just come to my room whenever you have free time,"

Logan ended up driving by herself to the Classic, which she was grateful for. She stopped for food and grabbed some snacks as well. She was supposed to stay behind the bus, but she had the location pulled up on GPS on her phone, so she wasn't lost. She discarded the wrappers and empty food bag on the floor of the passenger seat, reminding herself to throw it away later.
Logan found out she was sharing a room with Haley, which she was grateful for. Haley didn't know her during the worst of her binging, so she knew she'd be able to hide it from her. Although she knew she shouldn't be eating so much anyway, she couldn't help it. Finding out she wasn't Nathan's twin, she was taken from her biological mother, pushed her over the edge.
"Are you okay?" Haley asked. Logan looked at her and shrugged.
"Whatever my answer was the last time you asked me probably still stands," Logan said and Haley laughed a little.
"Nathan said that to me once, the exact same phrasing," Haley said and Logan smiled.
"Must be a raised-to-be-twins thing," Logan said, and then she looked at Haley. "Jokes about it aren't funny yet, are they?" She asked and Haley shrugged.
"You're allowed to process however you need to," Haley said and Logan laughed.
"And I thought Roman was Dr. Psychology," Logan said and Haley raised an eyebrow and Logan laughed again. "Just a little inside joke," She said and Haley smiled.
"What's going on between you two?" Haley asked and Logan sighed.
"Honestly, I don't know. I know that I like him, but the only date we've been on was the one Brooke set up as her way of apologizing for what she did at Dad's kiss his-ass party. The one we ended up running into each other on," Logan said and Haley nodded.
"Oh, right. I nearly forgot about that night, it feels like it was so long ago," Haley said and Logan smiled.
"You and Nate have done pretty well since then. I'm glad he has you, Haley. You've been what he's needed this whole time, and I like the person he's become since he started dating you. He was never mean to me, ever. But now, he's just nicer overall in general," Logan said and Haley laughed.
"Glad to do my part," She teased and Logan smiled.
"I also have a lot of issues, and Roman has his own issues, so I don't need him to be worried about mine, but... I don't know. I guess we'll see what happens this weekend," Logan said.
"What do you want to happen this weekend?" Haley asked and Logan sighed. Before she could answer, Brooke came barging through the door and Peyton was behind her.
"Logan. Cheer emergency, now," Brooke said and then walked out. Haley looked at Logan and raised an eyebrow.
"To be continued, Haley James... I'll see you later," Logan said. Haley nodded and the two smiled at each other and Logan followed her best friends out of the door. Brooke gathered up the rest of the squad and took them down to the lobby.
Brooke saw Claire and her squad down in the lobby and immediately marched their squad over. "Hi Claire, we just wanted to wish you good luck this weekend," Brooke said. Peyton and Logan were standing on both sides of her, and Claire turned around with a fake smile plastered on her face as she looked Brooke up and down.
"Um, we've won four years in a row," Claire said.
"Including Claire for best choreography," A girl on the squad said.
"Yeah, so maybe you should keep your luck for yourself. By the way, who are you again?" Claire asked. Brooke stepped up like she was ready to fight, but Peyton and Logan pulled her back.
"You know who I am, Brooke Davis. Captain of the Tree Hill Ravens. We roomed together last summer at Spirit Camp," Brooke snapped.
"Right, right. Don't the Ravens lose every year? See ya," Claire said. She smiled and then with her squad, walked past the Ravens and Brooke was about to lunge, but Logan grabbed her and stopped her.
"Oh, it is so on."

[tw; eating disorder, purging]
Logan Scott was sitting inside the bathroom of her hotel room. Haley was with Nathan, so she knew she wouldn't be back soon. Logan had just bought a lot of sweet snacks, and now she was over the toilet, with her former toothbrush that she used to purge in her hands. Tears ran down her face as she hated herself for what she was about to do, but all the sugar she had felt so heavy on her stomach, she wanted it out.
Logan lifted up the toilet lid and brought herself to her knees. "Just this once... this is the one and only time," She whispered to herself before putting the end of her toothbrush down her throat. The familiar feeling of her food coming back up brought her an odd amount of comfort as she emptied the contents of her stomach into the toilet.
Logan continued to use the toothbrush until she was dry-heaving with nothing coming out. Then she sat back against the tub, her breathing heavy and unsteady, due to her purge and the tears still streaming down her cheeks. She pulled herself up from the ground and walked over to the sink. She grabbed her regular toothbrush and brushed her teeth, then she fixed her hair. When she looked at herself in the mirror, she saw it immediately.
Her eyes were red and puffy from crying, and her cheeks were puffy from puking. When Logan looked in the mirror, she saw the version of herself from the eating disorder hospital looking back at her. "Do you really want to end up here again?" She thought she heard her mirror self ask her. Logan quickly shook her head and splashed her face with water, taking another breath to calm down.
"It was just once... that was it," Logan said to herself again as she shook her head. She quickly left her room and made her way down the hallway to Karen's room. She knew she had to get the conversation over with, or she was going to go to the local gas station, buy more sweets, and spend the entire night puking.
When Logan was about to knock, she stopped and shook her head. "I can't do this," She thought to herself as she sighed. She wanted to run back to her room, grab her car keys, and speed to the gas station, but she knew she couldn't. She just had to knock on the door. She lifted her arm again, but she couldn't bring it in herself to do it.
"Lo. You okay?" She quickly whipped around at the sound of her name and she saw Roman standing in the hallway. She ran to Roman and threw her arms around him in a tight hug. Roman was a bit caught off guard, but he wrapped his arms back around her and gently rubbed her back. "Well, I'm happy to see you too. What's going on?" He asked.
"It's Karen's door I was pacing in front of," Logan said as they separated from their hug. Roman nodded as he frowned.
"And you're debating whether to knock and talk to her?" He asked. Logan nodded and sighed as she laid a hand on her stomach. It was still feeling sensitive from the purging she had just done.
"Roman... when I think about the situation, it makes me sick to my stomach. I've been lied to my entire life, about something so big, and I can't...-I think I might actually be sick," Logan said. Roman gently grabbed her and slid down the wall, pulling Logan with him as they sat on the ground.
"Listen to me, Lo. Breathe and focus on the sound of my voice. Close your eyes, block out everything else, and breathe with me," Roman said as he led her through a few deep breaths. He felt some of the tension leaving her body as they breathed. "I know it's hard, but you have to talk about it, Logan. You need to talk about it. If you don't, it's going to eat you up on the inside and you'll drive yourself to sickness, or a relapse," Roman said. Logan wanted to cry because he had no idea she already slipped.
She tucked herself into his body, her head resting in the nape of her neck and she took a deep breath. Roman kept his arms around her and gently kissed the top of her head. "Thank you, Roman," Logan said and took another deep breath.
"Are you ready?" He asked. Logan lifted her head from his shoulder and nodded.
"Yeah, I think I can do this," She said. Roman nodded and stood up, and then he held his hand out so he could help Logan off of the ground.
"Find me after and we'll talk about it, okay?" Roman said. Logan nodded and he squeezed her hand before he went down the hallway, the same way he was coming when he first found Logan in the hallway. Logan took a deep breath and went back to Karen's door and then she knocked.
Karen came to the door a few moments later, and when she saw it was Logan, she smiled. "Hi, Logan. Is everything okay?" Karen asked.
"Not really. May I come in?" She asked. Karen nodded and stepped aside to let Logan in. Logan took a deep breath as she walked inside and then she looked at Karen. "So, I'm not really sure how to approach this, honestly," Logan said.
"Are you in some kind of trouble?" Karen asked and Logan shook her head.
"No, no... Nothing like that, um... My Mom told me the truth... about everything about what... about what Dan did," Logan said. Karen stood frozen for a minute as Logan's words registered in her mind. The truth. Logan knew the truth. She knew what Dan did. She knew she was Lucas' twin. Karen's eyes widened and then she blinked.
"Oh, um... Okay... Well, are you okay? I know that had to be a lot to take in," Karen said and Logan shook her head.
"No, I'm not. I don't even know how to begin to process it," Logan said as she frowned.
"I'm sure you have a lot of questions for me... and if you're angry at me, I understand that too," Karen said. Logan shook her head.
"I'm not mad at you... or my Mom... My Dad caused all of this. He threatened you to get me, and he threatened my Mom to keep me. I don't know if my Mom ever told you, but she said she tried to bring me back to you and Dan caught her. He threatened to take me and Nathan away from her if she ever tried again," Logan said and Karen shook her head.
"I just don't know what kind of man could do something like that... to both mothers of his children," Karen said and Logan sighed.
"I don't understand it either," Logan said.
"Is there anything you want me to answer?" Karen asked.
"I don't really need any of the details, I've really just been wondering... when's my birthday?" Logan asked and Karen smiled a little.
"May 20th," She said and Logan nodded.
"Keith said my Dad threatened court," Logan said and Karen nodded.
"I was 17, and my parents weren't happy about me being pregnant in the first place, they offered no support. Dan still had your other grandparents, I knew I couldn't win against him... but I should've fought," Karen said and Logan shook her head.
"No... you did what you thought was right at the time for Lucas... you couldn't risk losing him as well. If you didn't have adequate sources to take care of him, the state might've taken him and that's worse," Logan said as she shook her head.
"That was also going through my mind at the time," Karen said and Logan nodded.
"I'm sorry that 17 years of my life got taken away from you. Are you going to tell Lucas?" Logan asked and Karen sighed.
"I've wanted to tell Lucas so many times over the years, and I know when I do it's going to change everything," Karen said and Logan nodded.
"I imagine that's how my Mom...-Deb...-I um, I'm sure that's how she felt too. But I'll be there with you, when you're ready to tell him," Logan said.
"She raised you, Logan. She is your mother. It's okay for you to still refer to her that way. And I appreciate that. Having you there may make it a bit easier to tell him," Karen said and Logan sighed as she nodded.
"But what about you?" Logan asked.
"You can call me whatever you're comfortable with, Logan. I'm not going to push you," Karen said and Logan nodded.
"Thank you," Logan said as she nodded. "I'm glad you'll be here for my senior year and graduation," She said and Karen smiled.
"Me too."

Theresa got sent home because she had chicken pox, Peyton begged Haley to fill in for her, and Logan was in her room with Roman. They were watching a random movie on TV, but neither of them was paying attention.
"Do you feel better now that you've talked to Karen?" Roman asked.
"Yeah, I feel a little less sick about the situation. I guess the only thing left to do is tell Lucas the truth... Karen said she's going to tell him, and I offered to be there too if it'll make it easier for her, which she said it would," Logan said and Roman nodded.
"You're going to be okay, Lo. You're strong. You overcame a broken leg, an eating disorder, and Dan Scott. You're going to get through this too, and I'll be right here with you," Roman said. Logan smiled as she looked up at him.
"Thanks, Ro," Logan said.
"And you still have two pretty great brothers. Just the one you thought was your half-brother is actually your twin," Roman said and Logan laughed.
"I'm older than Nathan," She said with a smile on her face.
"You're never going to let him live that down, are you?" Roman asked and Logan laughed.
"Absolutely not," She said. The pair laughed, but before Roman could respond, the door slammed open. Logan sat up and saw Brooke, Haley, and Peyton walking inside. "Well, hello friends," She said.
"Logan. Practice. Now," Brooke said and then she walked out. Logan looked at Peyton and Haley. Peyton shook her head while Haley sighed. Logan turned to Roman as she grabbed her room key.
"I'll see you later, Ro. You can show yourself out," She said. Roman laughed as he turned off the TV and they both left Logan's room. She followed Peyton and Haley down the hallway to their emergency cheer practice.
Logan knew it was going to be a long night.

"5... 6... 7... 8," Brooke counted as the girls did their routine. Since Peyton and Logan were basically co-captains, they were standing with Brooke while the girls went through the routine. They already knew it. "No, no, no. Tutor girl. It's feet together," Brooke said.
"Okay, I'm really trying," Haley said.
"Well, try harder because we're on in 12 hours," Brooke said. Logan sighed and then she turned around when she heard footsteps coming. It was Claire and her squad.
"Aw, cute routine, girls. Too bad those moves are so '03. Where'd you find your choreographer, anyway? In the yellow pages under S for sucks?" Claire said.
"No, actually, that's where I found your boyfriend," Brooke shot back.
"Oh, you know, if I were you, I'd get some beauty sleep. I think it's the only thing that's going to help," Claire said. Peyton stepped up in front of Brooke and glared at Claire.
"And if I were you, I'd step back from my friend," Peyton snapped.
"Before you get your ass handed to you," Logan snapped.
"Whatever. Oh and remember, ladies. Jazz fingers!" Claire said as she wiggled her fingers. Then she and her squad walked away. Logan rolled her eyes as she, Peyton, and Brooke turned back to their squad.
"I'll give her a jazz finger," Haley snapped, causing them to laugh.
"Well, she's obviously scared because their routine probably sucks," Brooke said while shaking her head, and then Mouth came out of nowhere.
"Actually, it's good. I've seen it," Mouth said.
"How good?" Brooke asked.
"Lots of spins. Some tumbles," Mouth said.
"Okay, no give me information I can use, Mouth. What are the moves exactly?" Brooke asked and Mouth delivered. Logan was surprised that Mouth went through their entire cheer routine with precision. He hit every move perfectly.
"That is good. Do you want to replace tutor girl?" Brooke asked. Haley rolled her eyes and Logan couldn't help but laugh.
"No, thanks. Oh, and by the way. Three other teams are using Junior-Senior," Mouth said. Logan turned to Brooke, who had a nervous look on her face.
"Okay, it's time for Plan B. We're going to find Claire Young's room and pull a Tonya Harding. We're just going to hit her in the knee with a big stick," Brooke said and Logan laughed.
"Okay, Brooke, breathe. You're a better choreographer than Claire has ever been, okay? We still have time to win it, just teach us some new moves," Logan said.
"Well, what about our song?" Brooke asked. That's when Peyton stepped up.
"You handle the moves. Let me take care of the song."

After a few long hours, the girls were able to rework their routine. Brooke was able to convince the night manager to open the hot tub for them. All of the girls except Peyton and Haley were in the hot tub together, and Logan welcomed the warm water. It soothed her aching muscles and took her out of her mind.
"How'd you get him to open the hot tub?" Bevin asked.
"I sweet-talked the night manager. I figured you guys could use it after reworking our entire routine tonight. Feels good, doesn't it?" Brooke asked.
"Yep, this is great," Mouth said. He was in the hot tub with them. Brooke started laughing, and then Peyton and Haley walked out. Haley was wearing Theresa's uniform.
"Ta-da!" Peyton said as she moved out of the way and let everyone see Haley in the uniform. Logan jokingly did a wolf-whistle and Haley laughed.
"Tutor Girl, you look bitchin'," Logan said.
"Yeah, I kind of do, don't I?" Haley asked.
"Now get your suit. Hot tub therapy... both of you," Brooke said as she smiled at Peyton. Logan and Peyton were both shocked. Nathan and the guys walked in, so Logan got out of the hot tub and walked over to Roman.
"Hot tub therapy is good for the soul," Logan said as she smiled.
"I'm glad to see you smiling," Roman said. Logan heard Nathan yelling and when she looked over, Tim had jumped on his back and was steering him in the direction of the pool. While Roman was distracted, watching the scene, Logan did the same thing. Roman laughed as he caught her and allowed her to steer him into the pool.
When the pair resurfaced, they were both laughing, and then Roman picked Logan up on his shoulders, which made her laugh louder, and grip onto him because she didn't want him to drop her. Then the pair noticed everyone got deadly silent. When Logan and Roman looked up, they froze.
Whitey was there, and he was very unhappy.
⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎⇎
The cheer competition came and went. The Ravens didn't win, but Brooke won best choreographer, and the basketball team won their game. Whitey won his 500th game. Haley rode back on the bus, Logan rode back on her own, and once again stopped to get more junk food, and discarded the mess in the same place as she did her other junk.
Nathan came over to her and gave her a hug, asking if she was coming back to the apartment. Nathan was able to find a two-bedroom apartment for him and Logan, and Logan said that she would of course go half on the rent. She liked living with Nathan, it wasn't too different from them living in the house together, but she stayed in her room a lot because ever since he got the apartment, Tim's been coming over all the time and it's been annoying.
After Nathan went to his car, Lucas approached Logan and asked if she wanted to go to the River Court with him, becuase he wanted to practice his shooting again. Logan said yes and told Lucas he could get in the car, and when his foot crunched her trash, her eyes widened. "Sorry, about that. Nate's been telling me to get a grocery bag to use as a trash bag," Logan said and Lucas laughed.
"Don't worry about it," Lucas said as they drove down to the River Court.
"I heard Nathan's fadeaway shot was because of you. You two been working together?" Logan asked.
"Whitey's idea. Nathan wasn't really for it at first," Lucas said and Logan laughed.
"Of course not... But it seems he came around to it. What makes you want to start shooting?" Logan asked.
"Well, Nathan mentioned how he bounced back six weeks after messing up his elbows," Lucas said and Logan laughed.
"I remember that," Logan said.
"He said one day, he started shooting, and kept going, even through the pain," Lucas said and Logan nodded.
"And now you want to do the same," Logan commented and Lucas nodded.
"Yeah," He said and Logan smiled.
"Then let's get you back out there."
