( DIANA BRYANT ) has spent her life living between Rosewood where her mother lives and Philadelphia where her father not lives after her parents split when she was twelve years old. She never had a close group of friends, instead stuck beside Emily Fields, who was her friend because of them both being on the swim team. 

( THAT IS ) until Alison Dilaurentis picked five girls out of the school to be in her little clique. Diana never really felt close to Alison, feeling more like she was manipulated by her for their entire friendship but she enjoyed feeling like she was a part of something and so didn't question anything. 

( HOWEVER ) when the summer before sophomore year, Alison went missing after a sleepover, she suddenly questioned everything. The five girls drifted apart without their leader and once a year had passed and there was no news, Diana accepted that they would never see Alison again. She was practically presumed dead. 

( BUT ) during junior year, the five girls are drawn back together when they start getting threatening texts and their lives were once again thrown back to Alison, despite her being gone.
