I woke up with a start.

"Astrid! Let's go!"

I looked around, I had fallen asleep in the middle of my floor last night. I quickly changed into the RavenWood Uniform, and ran down the stairs.

"Are you ready, honey?"

My mom looked so sad-but why? I knew she'd miss me but she can visit me and I can visit her.

"Yep," I raised my half full suitcase, "I have everything I need from here."

My mom breathed in and returned to her normal stone cold look. "Let's go then."

My mom said bye in the car, not wanting to speak or see my father. I walked into the house and was immediately greeted by Levi.

"Astrid! Astrid! Astrid! I missed you so so so so so much!" He came running straight to the door, faster than a human and on his hands and feet, and jumped right up into my arms. "Astrid! Happy Birthday! You're 17 now!"

I smiled and caught him. It's lucky that he is small for his age or I wouldn't be able to do this.

"Yeppers, 17, a big day did you keep Dad and Carrie annoyed for me?"

"Of course he did." My dad walked into the room, "Are you ready to go, Astrid?"

"Almost just gotta pack a little more from my room."

He nodded and walked out of the room.

Levi crawled off of me and raced into the room we shared, I followed.

When I walked in Levi had pretend glasses on and a clipboard.

"Alright, so I've made a checklist of everything you need, I've already finished my packing so now it's just you." Levi said, pretending to be an adult.

"Let's do this then."

Eventually we finished and we all got into the car to go to school.

After a long drive to almost the middle of nowhere, we arrived. The school was 5 buildings, but 1 was 2 buildings connected by a skywalk on the 2nd floor.

There was a huge fence around the building with the skywalk and 1 other building, which means that's probably the night class's area.

The other 3 buildings were set up across the street of the fences area like a university. The entire lot was surrounded by a fence larger than the one on the night class buildings.

My dad stopped just outside of the gate, and let us out, saying goodbye, we were greeted by a bubbly teenager, maybe a year younger than me.

"Hi! I'm Stacy! I'll be giving you two a tour, welcome!"

She pointed to the fenced off buildings, "You two are night class, right?" I nodded, "Then that's your area, a night class student will show you around there. Us day class students aren't allowed in there ever. Although everyone in night class are the hottest, it's not fair you know? I mean look at you two! We don't get any of them!" She started whining and Levi looked at me, we were unimpressed.

"Anyways. This first building is the dorms for day class. The next is day classes, and then the one closest to the night class area is the library for both classes. Any questions?"

"Nope, thanks."

She nodded and handed us 2 ID cards. "These are your school ID's. You'll need them to get in and out of the library and night class area. Night class IDs are different that day class, each one has a symbol, I don't know what for but the night class seems to know. Anyway, good luck!"

She gestured towards the night class area and walked away, into the day class dorm.

"You ready Levi?"

"As ready as I'll ever be."

I took a deep breath and we walked up to the gate together.
