Three ➵ Reunited
"You first," I frown, confused as I hear the other boys walking around downstairs.
"Our last leg of the tour is in Korea, I wanted to surprise you. We were never in Mexico," he sighs and stares at my profound stomach. "You have some serious explaining to do, Lee Areum..."
"Please can we talk about this somewhere more priva-"
"Areum!" I hear the voice of Vernon shout as he runs up the stairs.
He's about to hug me but halts in his tracks at the sight of me.
"What on earth..." He mumbles and I feel tears grow inside my eyes. I certainly wasn't ready for this.
"Is Joshua here?" I ask.
Vernon nods and I curse under my breath. "Tell him I'm not here, please." I plead and return back into my room, shutting the door behind me and sitting on my bed.
It's quiet for a few minutes and I sigh in relief, thinking that they've left. I feel bad for not greeting the other boys but Joshua can't know yet.
I hear a gentle knock at the door and when I look up, I don't see my parents or Dino like I expect, but Joshua.
I can't read the expression on his face as he slowly walks towards me. I gulp when he sits beside me silently and rests his head in his hands.
"Is it mine?" He mumbles, not looking at me.
"Yes, he is yours." I sigh.
Before he has the opportunity to respond, the door shuts and I hear the turning of a key. I look up and so does Joshua, both utterly confused.
"We're going to the apartment for a few hours," Dino's voice calls. "Areum, mum and dad won't be home until late, they're visiting grandad. Hopefully you two will sort things whilst we're away."
"Dino, don't you dare!" I shout and try to stand but wince at the pain in my stomach.
Joshua glances at me worriedly but I ignore the gesture. I try to pull on the door handle but it doesn't budge. We're officially locked inside.
"Are you serious?" I groan and rest my back against the door.
Joshua looks sheepish as he sits on my bed. He looks different to when I last saw him, more mature almost. I try to stand for as long as I can endure but the ache becomes too much so I'm forced to sit back down beside him.
"I've really missed you, Ar. It's been so long."
"It has," I breathe, turning to face him. "I've missed you too."
It then turns silent and the atmosphere grows heavier by the second.
"When did you find out?" He asks, again, not looking me in the eyes.
"Not long after you left," I mumble. "I didn't want to ruin the tour for you."
"What do you mean?" He asks with a look of anger, turning to face me. "You didn't tell me because you didn't want to ruin the tour? I thought the company had told you to stay quiet."
I shake my head. "They don't know yet."
"What?" He exclaims, standing up. "I can't believe this."
"Joshua, calm down," I murmur, resting my hands on my stomach as if the baby is being affected by his loud voice.
"That's the most pathetic excuse I've ever heard!" He shouts but I don't retaliate; I know the shock of becoming a dad is probably furling his anger.
"I'm sorry," I say sincerely.
"Sorry doesn't cut it, Areum."
I wince at his words. I hate it when he uses my name instead of his cute nicknames. It's just a reminder of how annoyed he is at me.
"Who else knew before me?" He asks after a few ragged breathes to calm himself.
"My mum and dad, my Aunty and her son and husband, Wonpil-"
"Wonpil?!" He shouts. "That psycho you met at the hospital? You told him before telling me?"
"He's not a psycho," I defend the boy who's been so supportive for the past eight months. "He's helped me get through this."
"I could have helped you if you had told me!"
"How could you have done that?" I resort and he frowns angrily. "You were halfway across the world when I found out, Joshua. Newsflash, you weren't here and he was! God, stop being so selfish about this. I didn't tell you but right now, you shouldn't be focusing on who I told first, you should be focusing on your unborn son!" I shout, my hormones once again getting the better of me.
"Let me out of here," he mumbles and forcefully pulls at the door handle. "I can't believe this."
"Do you have your phone?" I ask.
"No, it's downstairs. Don't you have a spare key?"
I shake my head. "It's downstairs in the safe."
"Wow," he mumbles. "That's great."
He bangs at the door with his fists as if it will magically open. As his back is facing me, a sharp pain shoots up my stomach, worse than ever before. I cry out and he suddenly turns around, his anger still evident but a glimpse of worry flashes through his features.
"What's happening?" He frowns.
I look down and to my horror, I see a transparent liquid soaking the sheets of my bed. I gulp and look up into his eyes, scared.
"I think my waters just broke."
